  1. I decided to take my time and drive down from PA to Dallas for GW4. I used Yahoo maps to plan my route down but I just bought a Garmin 60cx which has autorouting. The autorouting really cool but the route that Mapsource City Select v7 gives me is quite a bit different than Yahoo maps. Has anyone used autorouting for an extensive trip? If so how did it do?
  2. I like the idea of a friends list. There is a few of us that are constantly checking each others profiles for recent activity.
  3. Interesting but it wouldn't be approved. Caches that you have to email the owner for the coords. are not allowed.
  4. What a chance of a lifetime! Glad you decided to go instead of selling the tickets.
  5. I know I can hardly stand myself sometimes.
  6. Is it worthwhile to add more confusion and controversy to something that so obviously works well the way that it is..........................NO.
  7. This kinda reminds me of the Geocachers Creed saga from a while ago.
  8. This is simple to do if you use GSAK. Load all you pq's in. Then do a sort from the coords of what you want to be your center point. Choose how many you want to send to your gps. The legend will hold 1,000 waypoints so load 950 or so in and have at it.
  9. I have to agree that I don't see the need for this. I think we'd be making an issue out of a non-issue.
  10. I don't think too many people do it. What fun would that be. Of course people lie at golf too.
  11. I tried to go geocaching on my motorcycle last year. I have a Suzuki Katana but there was no way to mount the gps to the bike. Regular handlebar mounts won't work because it has the low clip on hanldbars that arn't round and I tried a suction cup mount but it didn't want to stay on.
  12. You can find plenty of geocaches without waas. Mine has it and I leave it turned off.
  13. Good luck all I can say is be prepared. I happened to see Lep on his co-record run at about 3:00 am and he looked pretty whooped.
  14. You know, I kind of like your tropical fish analogy. It fits. That's probably why after my tropical fish died I switched my tank to a Bearded Dragon habitat.
  15. Yep you lift up the flap, and the end kind of slides on and locks.
  16. TBs can and do go missing - it's a fact of life. If you're really worried about one going missing then don't bother buying the first one. This would be fine if new cachers recieved a warning that thier tb's will more than likely come up missing and there's nothing that Groundspeak or anyone else will do about it. The problem is that I think that most people that buy tb's are excited newbies like I was when I bought my first few sets. Only after their tb's get stolen or placed in someones personal collection do they see the futilility of the whole situation.
  17. Not trying to start a war here but why are you against Garmin? Any experience with them?
  18. I'm in the same boat. I realize that people forget about them, lose them etc. but I have a bug that's been in the same guys hands for over a year and won't respond to my emails. I will no longer buy any tb's. I feel that if Groundspeak sells them they should try to help us in a case like this. Maybe suspend the account of the cacher that has the bug. I bet that would get the bug moving along.
  19. Congrats by the way, for the 2:45 AM FTF! Yep, we're all addicted to this wacky little hobby. Thanks! It helps that I work 3rd shift during the week so on weekends I don't sleep much.
  20. City Select v7 is the last one available. They have replaced City Select with City Navigator v7. From what I understand City Select will no longer be supported in 2007.
  21. Those covers look pretty good. I just ordered one. Thanks for the advice.
  22. You'll love cachemate combined with GSAK! Once you get used to it you can load 500 caches in your gps and all the info in your palm in about 5 minutes out the door.
