  1. For some reason none of the tabs work while looking at either my public, or anyone else profile. I can click the links but they don't do anything or take me anywhere.
  2. It's not just emotion that is invested...there's money involved here, too; most likely adding to the "investment". Please remember these things just don't pop-up out of thin air, people actually have to purchase the TBs and Coins in the first place. I agree that people shouldn't spend themselves into the poor house buying these trackables; I also agree that people finding them in caches should realize the trackables have some monetary value (to the owner), and treat them as such. Time to dust off my ticket stub analogy. Most trackables cost in the $6 to $15 range. Coincidentally movie tickets are in the same range depending on what type of show you pay for. I.E. matinee, 3D, IMAX, etc. What you attach to a trackable might or might not have more monetary value, but who goes to the movies and doesn't buy popcorn, candy, soda, or water if not all of the above? In the end, an outing to see a movie for just one person is going to cost more than most trackables. Can we all agree on that? Now, save that ticket stub, the empty popcorn tub and soda cup and see how far they get you next time you want to see a movie. Ya spent good money on all that stuff right? Face it. When you activate and cast a trackable adrift you have just gone to the show. Everything else that happens is extra value added by another cacher who voluntarily agreed to provide you with continued entertainment. Sometimes the show lasts for many years. Sometimes the show gets cancelled.... It doesn't matter. You got what you paid for which is a tracking number and a trackable web page. You can always relaunch that number. You are gonna get tossed out of the theater if you try to reuse that stub. So, we spend more money to see a movie, yet we don't lament the cost (much) even if the movie sucks worse than Freddie Got Fingered. But we spend less money on average for a trackable and get butt hurt when it goes missing, gets held too long, goes in the wrong direction, sits too long in a remote puzzle cache, etc. The list of opportunities for butt hurt and angst over trackables is pert near infinite. It's a matter of perspective and expectation with a sprinkling of entitlement. I tend to think of more like gasoline. If I pay $5-$15 for gas I can expect to a couple of gallons to half a tank. I expect that gas to get from point A to B to C and so on and so forth, but then return me back to point A eventually. Now let's say I only got to point C and what was left in my tank when I got back was mysteriously gone? I would be upset and have to go spend more money too continue my journey. We get upset over having them disappear. I can deal with not moving quickly, at least I know where my money is sitting. When they disappear though you are forced to sit there and hope they come back our goo spend more money again. EDIT I put gas in my tank to accomplish a goal just like I put a tracking bug out to accomplish a goal. When either of them disappear before that goal is meet I would get upset.
  3. The person may just not have seen it. I would give it some time a and see what the next cache log says. Or, you could just go check the cache yourself. But don't give up! I just located a few travelers that have been missing for five years. Will be getting them back on the move shortly :-D
  4. Well I got ahold off the people that had the stuff and they said they remember the tag that was attached to the Jeep, after I described it to them. They will take a look around and see what they can find. So possibly some good news :-D. How long should I give it for the owner of Clover to get back in touch before cutting him back loose into the wild once again?
  5. Well I think I found where the Green Jeep came from, went missing around the same time "Papoose Peak (ID)" Green Jeep Travel Bug from Riverfront Park-Grandmas Birthday. Going to contact the people I got all this from and see if they can find the tag for it. No way to contact the owner due to unverified email. If no luck will purchase tag to get her back up and going.
  6. Found this one,Clover, at a yard sale 5 years after it disappeared! Attempting contact with owner for instructions, if no contact during the next month I will send him on his way. Also, found a patch and a Jeep sans TB. Working on finding a missing Green Jeep TB in the area if no go then will get a new tag to send it on it's way.
  7. Yep that's the one. If I can't find a possible owner, I'll get a new TB on it and send it on it's way Hopefully it will have some fun adventures. We have quite the bug blackhole around here it seems. I will start doing my best to get bugs moved out of it when I can Maybe instead of finding a way to stop the thieving, we as a whole should start watching our local caches and if certain ones seem like bug killers, we move bugs to safer territory for their travels to continue. Just my 2₵.
  8. After doing a little research the patch is not trackable, but the Jeep seems to be a Green Jeep Traveling Bug without it's tag. Couldn't find a missing Green Jeep TB on the archived cache will start working out from that one and the first missing one I find I will email to see if he/she wants the Jeep for a possible copy tag. If no go will try the next 5 missing out from there. If still no go will purchase a bug for it and send it on it's way!
  9. Posted in the graveyard, but also in here for input. Sent an email to the owner but he hasn't been active in a couple of years it looks like. What should I do if I can't reach the owner? Ok so the missus wanted to go visit all the yard sales in Lewiston, Idaho on this nice sunny day and low and behold what do I see sitting on the table? A bag with a TB and a figurine attached to it, a little green jeep and a geocaching patch. I asked where they got it and they stated they didn't know. I explained what it was and they said I could just have it (Thanks you guys)! So I looked it up and Clover from 5 years ago in an archived cache from 5 years ago. I have never brought a bug back from the yard and was wondering, do I try to contact the owner and see what he wants done with it or send it back into the wild?
