Did something break with site integration recently or have I messed something up unwittingly?
I currently get a long list of maps:
OpenStreetMap Default OpenStreetMap German Style OpenStreetMap Black and White Thunderforest OpenCycleMap Thunderforest Transport Thunderforest Landscape MapQuest OSM MapQuest Aerial Stamen Toner Stamen Terrain Stamen Watercolor Esri WorldStreetMap Esri DeLorme Esri WorldTopoMap Esri WorldImagery Esri OceanBasemap Esri NatGeoWorldMap OpenStreetMap Hike and Bike Google Maps Google Maps Satellite Google Maps Hybrid
which doesn't bear any relation to my GME prefs - in particular seem to have lost OS.
Haven't investigated to see if I can see what's going on yet - will try later.
-
Looks like they're not as the link above nolonger works...
Trailing full stop in link - try:
http://www.ukgeocachers.co.uk/catalog/Large-Long-Grass-Ready-Made-Micro-Cache.html
-
Scroll down to read logs?
Specifically this one: http://coord.info/GL8VD9PW

@Gitchee-Gummee thanks point taken, if you know the area it is flat grass land with very few stones so to find something that looks like stone henge is not very difficult. A wild fire has passed through the area and the cache was left in a 1lt plastic yoghurt container, I assumed it was burnt. I will now know in future to just log a no find.
Container appears to have changed based on logs... (so no longer plastic)
The picture dated 29/07/2012 appears to be post fire. (and shows the container)
Have another go (I'd recommend trying a few more before making up your mind)

I'm not a great fan of moving map so my preference would be for north up with pointer.
But both options sounds like a fine idea
-
Well it makes a lot less sense here contextually but fair enough...
-
I have a phone with a magnetic compass. Google (et al.) use this to display my (well, the phone's) orientation on the map. Can this please be integrated into the [navigate to cache by map] and [view multiple caches on map] maps. (If there's a setting I've missed or a previous request my searching failed to find please feel free to advise...)

See https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk/overlays/olympic_venue.kml
It's not a circle from the centre of the stadium but a minimum of a mile from the stadium - more obvious if you look at the Olympic Park or Excel or (especially) Dorney
Looks like you'd need to go about 100m north (though I'm not sure if that map is to be taken as gospel)
-
Could you unpin the other thread then?
('Real' threads seem to start a long way down the page at the moment - if the others could be rationalised at all I would find it an improvement...)

Cough.Marathon.Cough
-
"As a result we will be temporarily disabling all geocaches within one mile of event venues and race routes"
(bolding mine)
I suspect there's room for a bit more red on the map.
-
Grumble... a mile's a long way in London.
Now can I get away with http://coord.info/GC2ARTM & http://coord.info/GC2ARTF ...?
-
metoo (Nokia version)
-
It's exponential!
Oh no it isn't...
y = 36.695x3 - 194.18x2 + 584.11x
is a pretty good fit though
R² = 0.9984

If events don't count then I've picked up 4/5 favourite points I shouldn't have...
I currently have 2359 finds of which 50 are events (46 regular events plus...)
So according to your logic I should have 1+230 favourites and be due the next one in 1 cache time.
http://www.geocaching.com/my/default.aspx says:
Logs Until Next Favorite Point: 7
Total Favorite Points: 236
I maintain, as previously on UserVoice, that the problem comes from initially logging a find that requires cache-owner confirmation by writing a note and later editing it to a 'found' log. It's a trivial issue but I don't buy the explanation given.
-
Perhaps there could be a category for those who have found the ten oldest active uk mainland caches
Ah, mainland... now I see why you say 7 when I thought 6.
Get thee to http://coord.info/GCED4 !

I apologise for not writing the feature request in an implementation agnostic manner...
Goal: reduce clicks on map load to set up as desired.
Fringe benefit: reduce server load caused by initial undesired map tile pull.
-
The benefit of also having it as a url parameter being I can easily bookmark (or otherwise load) specific maps already filtered and not worry about session... (given the map frequently seems to forget who I am - which may well be my setup) maybe there's a better way of doing it than my suggestion but there's definitely room for improvement.
-
Almost every time I (re)load the map the first thing I do is click the personalisation buttons to filter my finds and hides.
I'd much rather this was remembered - the easiest way as far as I can see would be a f=1 (or similar) parameter similar to:
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?[sTUFFHERE]&f=1
(Ideally the cache types would be exposed too)
I'd like it if "refresh session" also remembered the options I'd chosen.

Right. v0.3 of my script is now live on userscripts.org - see Geocaching Map Enhancements. Now works for me on Firefox 5, Firefox 3.6 and even Chrome!
Just upgraded to Firefox 6 with Greasemonkey 0.9.8. Ordnance Survey Maps still seem to work. Phew!
Well that's a vast improvement on my hackery. Very nice thank you.
-
No one else has found all ten but Pyoung1s and aB5dEglYeS5P have found seven of them
Someone said I'd been mentioned so had to find myself (sigh)
Just a minor correction - only 6 so far (though I've done 7 of the 11)
(Numbers 3 and 4 shouldn't be too tricky for me though)
While I'm here, on the wider point...
Yes, it's another grid to fill but also the older caches on average tend to be above average in enjoyment for me so any excuse is a good one.
I wouldn't want to see something being unarchived just for the stats though. Although somehow that wouldn't bother me quite as much as 'fake' placed by dates (where the code is clearly out of sequence).

(For want of a better place to post this)
I see there is some form of pre-release testing ( http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/1211519-try-a-server-update-on-a-seperate-system-or-page-B )
Can I ask how many people this currently involves - will you invite more people?
(Yes I'd consider volunteering...)
PS - I'd love to see the issue tracker opened up to the community but I'm not hopeful.

GCNKPD was archived 4 years ago and was in the US so who knows why it's here.
They gave away the location of #3 (GC2R3CV) in a similar fashion before #1:
51.431283 -0.229833
(assuming not red herrings)
But I think I've decided against looking for these. The Berlin response is quite amusing:
http://coord.info/GC2NY98 (18 NA logs... nice )

Is it possible to use Ad-Block Plus or a Greasemonkey Script to fix the fixed-width issue?
No, I don't think so. I'm sure if it was we would have at least a half dozen scripts or rules to choose from by now. That is something driven by the site wide CSS.

Geocaching Map Enhancements
in United Kingdom and Ireland
Posted · Edited by aB5dEglYeS5P
Ah, should have investigated more first clearly...
Seems to be a change to GC little helper that I failed to notice - it's even in the changelog:
New: GClh now overwrites the layercontrol of GC Map Enhancements (can be disabled in settings)
(No, you're right about the list - the additional options didn't interest me much)
Thanks for the reply and again for the good work with the script
