  1. Doh! Must be the filters then. They will always appear in the list if <100 miles away, and on the map if filters are set correctly.
  2. Because the GPX file with the geocaches is in the wrong directory....
  3. Ballard1911, The seraview - BMB0ERN.gpx file is NOT in the Garmin/GPX/ directory. As previously stated, it is in the Garmin/GPX/Current/ directory, which is the wrong place for it. MOVE it to the Garmin/GPX/ directory. NEVER put any files in the Garmin/GPX/Current/ directory.
  4. You should never put anything in the GPX/Current directory. Please visit GPSrChive for tons of great info about your new Oregon 700.
  5. That is a parking child waypoint, and will always appear as a waypoint. That is not an actual geocache. There is nothing wrong with your Garmin.
  6. GPSrChive > How To... > Benchmark provides a ton of Benchmarking information as well as multiple methods to get all those Benchmarks on your Garmin GPSr so you can search and find them just like Geocaches!
  7. GPSrChive > How To... > Geocache covers all of the current available geocache download options.
  8. You have to be a premium member to download GPX. You may need to reset some browser cookies, or try an incognito window.
  9. We're all batteries removed when you performed the forced USB mode connection by holding the power button down? Are you using a USB port directly on the computer? Try a new cable and a new USB port, then try a different computer.
  10. The eTrex 32x operates identically to the 30x, and has virtually identical specs other than increased memory to make room for the included TopoActive maps. Any process you were using with the 30x should carry over seamlessly. If you can share more details about those processes and precisely what is not working for you with the 32x, perhaps someone here can get you over that hurdle? I can see how this could be a reasonable response to one of their top of the line flagship devices, like the Montana 7x0 or perhaps even a GPSMAP 66, with all their advanced features and functions sometimes becoming overwhelming for some users... But for an eTrex? These are (and always have been) by far the simplest devices Garmin produces.
  11. Appears the eTrex x2x only offers 4GB additional memory and TopoActive maps over the eTrex x0x. GPSrChive
  12. Yes and No. You can compare all of their individual features against each other at GPSrChive.
  13. Simply deleting the txt file (and empty trash on apple products) then rebooting the device will solve it. The SQL database does not contain any information about this txt file. The geocache_visits.txt file is present for one single purpose, logging finds at geocaching.com.
  14. The issue was the corrupted txt file. Simple as that. A soft reset does not make any changes to this file.
  15. Not the issue. The GPSr simply adds to the existing files each time a cache is logged.
  16. Except: Was the file actually deleted? Was the recycle bin cleared before disconnecting the GPSMAP 65? If not, the same file would have still been present on the device when reconnected.... Further more, What does that text editor do to the source file when opening? ANY change will corrupt it....
  17. Glad you have it sorted out! I suspect when you opened the file the very first time using the MAC, the file structure was changed/corrupted, and once that happens, the GPSr will no longer write to that file on the device. The firmware update and device reset cleared that file and a new, uncorrupted file was written. So long as none of your text editors make any changes to that file, you should be good to go. Should you run into the issue again, simply delete the file from the GPSr (and empty the trash on the Mac) and reboot the device, it will rewrite a fresh new file for future cache logs.
  18. Certainly, but first we must change the topic to be more accurate and correct, as the current topic is in fact completey incorrect and deceptive. The users GPSMAP 65 does in fact actually track found caches, and the REAL issue is directly related to the use of a MAC. A much more honest topic would be "My MAC has trouble reading the geocache_visits.txt file on my GPSMAP 65." Now, as you say, let's stay "on topic".
  19. That's the big elitist lie Apple continues to spread... Everyone I know that use apple products are constantly suffering from compatibility and/or lack of support issues that simply do not exist on Windows PC's. In fact, most of them still have to keep a Windows PC handy for just such occasions.
  20. So many times, on these and other forums, when a MAC is involved, the MAC is the issue. If you do anything other than read this file, on any machine, you are very likely to find that it in fact no longer records your geocache visits, in which case, simply deleting the existing file and letting the GPSr write a new one the next time you log a cache will resolve the issue. Also, not using a MAC helps. A lot.
  21. The Oregon x00/x50 and Colorado x00 are all capable of running Wherigo cartridges. But they do not always work perfectly. I prefer to use software on my phone to run Wherigo cartridges. Could this be an option for you?
