Does not charge *that type* of batteries while inside the device. The original Oregon 200/300/400 series was commonly referred to as the x00 series, while the update 450/550 models were known as the x50 series.
None of these models will charge batteries inside the device.
The 'second generation' 600 series, also known as the 6x0 series, a well as the third and final generation 700 series (7x0) can charge Garmin battery packs inside the device, as well as your own NiMH batteries when using something to press in on the button inside the battery compartment.
All of this information is available at GPSrChive.

Hey Atlas Cached,
Thank you for finding this for the community,
You wouldn't know what the latest version of Vantage point would be by chance ??,I live in Australia where Magellan I think went bust over here, and the website doesn't work at all,
Thanks,
James0116Try this link.

Yes, you can load geocache GPX files to the GPSMAP 67 like you do with the eTrex, but since the GPSMAP 67 operates in MTP Mode, additional software or steps will be required.
There are also additional options that may improve your experience, such as GGZ geocache files and GCLive loaded geocaches.

None of these Montana 7x0 options have any affect on device operation.
These selections are only available so that saved activities can be classified when imported into Garmin Connect.

Anyone suggesting the latest devices from Garmin are no more accurate than those created 20 years ago are not being honest with you, or with themselves.
Modern Garmin models with Multi-GNSS and Multi-Band are substantially more accurate and stable than previous models produced as recent as 5 years ago.
20 years ago you were doing well to see the device report 30 feet of accuracy, while todays Multi-Band devices can consistently calculate your position with 6 feet of accuracy.
The first Garmin 'Multi-GNSS' models allowed the user to select one satellite constellation to use in addition to GPS. Those options were usually GLONASS or Galileo.
Recent models employ more powerful 'Multi-GNSS' chipsets that use GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, IRNSS and QZSS satellite constellations concurrently to provide unsurpassed satellite availability and accessibility. Not only can they access all of these satellite navigation constellations simultaneously, they are also capable of using multiple frequency band signals from each GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS satellite, allowing for 'real time on device' atmospheric interference compensation.
On inReach devices you will not see the GLONASS option because it can interfere with potentially live saving inReach constellation communication. The inReach antenna does not affect device accuracy or stability on any model.
The GPSMAP 67 is an excellent choice with many great features previously unavailable. I would only consider the 67i if inReach capability is something you want or need. Either will out perform your mobile phone in many scenarios.

Prepare for everyone to tell you to just use your phone and not buy a GPSr.
Of the models you listed, the 67 is the most capable and the battery will last a very, very long time.

I don't think anyone has had enough time to get a GPSMAP 67 anywhere near 0% battery....
-
Technically, the newer eTrex SE has limited GCLive capability for only $150 USD. Examples can be found here.
There are more capable models, but most of them will start at twice that price.

Atlas Cached-The device I had wouldn't attach to the internet-defective. I have another one, but it still has the 1.0 firmware. Do you have a link to update it to 1.7. I have to do that before I can take it to 2.15.
Magellan eXplorist GC Firmware Update 1.6 for Windows.
Ver. 1.6 - 02/23/2011
Bad Nav Fields (related to bad positioning close to destination).
Position averaging bug when placing geocaches.
Smart Arrow slow down.Magellan eXplorist GC Firmware Update 1.7 v2 for Windows.
Ver. 1.7 - 06/23/2011
Messages were added to the startup screen to notify the user of the current activity. The messages are:
"Loading Track..."
"Loading Geocaches..."
"Loading Waypoints..."
"Recovering Database..."
"Indexing Database..."
A maximum of 1000 files will be read and loaded from the device. Any additional files beyond the 1000 will not be loaded. A message notifying the user will be displayed. The message will be: "1000 .GPX files loaded. Please consolidate additional files."
The priority of reading the files will be the following:
Tracks
Geocaches
Waypoints
NOTE: Maximum number of Geocaches is still 10,000.
Modification of the database loading and rollback process to improve on the load time. -
The suspense mounts.....
-
Perform a master reset on the malfunctioning device.

Magellan eXplorist GC Firmware Update 2.15 for Windows or Mac.
Details:
Ver. 2.15 - 10/31/2013 UI Improvement.
Support Groundspeak Geocache Favorites.
Allow to disable Awards & Merit Badges.
Supports additional post-sale National Geographic and Digital Globe Maps.
New Preloaded Map.
Shaded Relief for Map.
Allow enable/disable position-to-destination line with active Goto.
Additional Language Support.
Various bug fixes. -
Anyone who has owned and used an eXplorist GC will know the final update from Magellan for this model literally transformed it into an entirely new device.
The good news for those who still use these is that they are still relatively plentiful and inexpensive in the used GPSr marketplace.
Which firmware version is loaded to your replacement unit?

I have two eTrex SE and neither of them freeze or lock-up for me. They are a wonderful combination of simplicity with modern features that is very enjoyable to use.
People really shouldn't review products they have never handled or used themselves, Robert.

If you enjoy using your legacy yellow eTrex, I suspect you would very much enjoy a new eTrex SE.

Any updates to share?

I downloaded the custom symbols and installed them to the CustomSymbols folder on the GPS. Now how do you set up the Montana 700i to show these instead the default ones?
It will happen automatically if you have loaded them to the correct directory.

On my devices that only allow GPS + one additional GNSS constellation, I also select Galileo, which is much more accurate than GLONASS.
I also enable WAAS/EGNOS.
You would probably be better off with setting the track log to record Auto + More Often. This results in fewer spider webs at locations where you stop moving for any amount of time.

I thought for sure I had answered this post.
Please see GPSrChive > How To... > Geocache for a full list of methods for loading your Garmin GPSr with Geocaches!
-
Detailed instructions are available at GPSrChive > How To... > Geocache > Remove Geocaches.

If you are a premium member, simply register the Oregon 7x0 with your geocaching account and then load your PQs and Lists directly to the Oregon 7x0 wirelessly!

In my Montana it's: Setup --> Geocaching --> Geocaching Live --> the last option (on or off)
I guess it's the same for the Oregon.

Both your Oregon 450 and eTrex Vista HCx can still do the same job they were designed to do originally, and just as well now as then.
There have been many updates and improvements to the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) these devices use today, so more modern receivers will have added capability, including much improved positional accuracy and amazing battery life that is measured in days not hours.
You can compare most Garmin handheld receivers, both old and new, at GPSrChive.
If you have any specific questions, let us know!
