  1. I personally have a Garmin Nuvi 250W. I drive big rigs and it seems to work pretty good for the rig, the car and of course caching. Not always super accurate but once you get to know how it operates, it will get you within 5 feet at least. (Adds to the hunt I find). hope this helps. They do have others out there. You may want to check out the web sites to these GPS manufacturer's. Good place to start.
  2. In an instance like that, I wouldn't feel comfortable looking for it. With that said, I have done cache's in cem's but they were not on a grave. I have learned a lot about the history of the area I live in because of some of these cache's. I think that there is a tasteful, respectable way to do one. Historical cem's for instance is a great place as long as its not on or near a grave site. Just my two cents.
  3. Good point. I made a note on that cache page that there are a few trackables that are not there anymore. The last log in the booklet was dated Dec. 5/08 and it mentioned moving some trackables, but didn't note which. I visited the cache and had two rookies with me. ( I was teaching them how to cache). I will make a note of that and mark it as missing. Hopefully it isn't lost for good and just in the hands of a cacher that hasn't logged it yet. Thanks for your tip. Have a safe and happy holiday and happy geocaching.
  4. I thank you all for your quick and helpful responses. For the record, I do restock my cache's periodically and I don't fully expect everyone to be of good honest nature. I understand that some people are for the taking, and others like myself are for the trading and more so for the thrill of the hunt. (I always like the excitement that goes with it. You can get some great stories doing this). As for the TB and GC's, I put my coins out with the hope but not the expectation that they will survive. I'm glad to see at least one of my coins make it to New Zealand,....way beyond my expectations. As for the other I was only curious as to a time frame for marking it MIA. I'm not that concerned that it not show up anywhere, I'm sure if it got stolen or went missing, whom ever has it or finds it, will no doubt have a great story to go with it and enjoy it. After all, isn't that the point? I only asked because curiosity got the best of me. Thanks again. Have a happy and safe holiday, and happy caching.
  5. OK, I have only been doing this for about 6 months or so. I have hidden 4 of my own caches and helped my daughter hide one of hers. I have a few questions regarding procedure on TILI and logging trackables. First off, I placed a large cache in an area that is frequented by the traveler. I placed items in there that would be of used to them. However, I have discovered that the cache has been emptied of its contents with very few people putting in for what they take. Is this typical and to be expected? I was always under the impression that you take only if you place something else in there. And if it is a theme cache, you stick with the theme as best you can. Am I wrong? Second, regarding trackables. I have two geocoins that I let loose on the world. I know where one is through the postings of logs and emails, but another is MIA. It shows that it is in a cache, but I had visited that cache and its not there. The last log was from two weeks ago. How long should I wait before I claim it MIA? And is there any way I can find it? I understand that sending out a trackable is risky, I know that there is a chance it will be taken or go missing. I was just wondering. Thank you for taking the time to respond to this. Happy caching.
