  1. Yes, yellow and blue caches aremuch more common over here. I don't have a statistic at hand, but you can easily check this by having a look at the GC.com map: http://www.geocaching.com/map/getmap.aspx?lat=50&lon=10 (Zoom out to max, and click off the TBs)
  2. I suggest adding an automated note to the locked caches explaining why they have been archived and locked plus a link showing the way to Waymarking.com. This would be a great service to all those who are neither owners of LL nor regular forum readers and would be great advertisement for wm.com. Cheers, BS/2
  3. There was a (short) description when I archived this listing on Monday 26 Dec evening UTC (= before 0800 AM PST). After the archival process I have of course not been able to alter the page, so it must have been altered by someone/-thing else(?). Strange, isn't it? Edit: adding screenshot from the "my" page:
  4. Any news on this topic? Have you found the bug? I haven't been able to see the missing text on my description for the cache Urns since two days. TIA, BS/2
  5. Please explain why these are linked. They could be linked, if the servers produce an error while accessed at a certain time. If this time is a time where very few US-based, but more EU-based cachers try to access the site, this could look like its a "European problem". What I hadn't read at that time was the other "missing" thread started by webscouter. So - it's just a wild guess. Using a modem to access the Internet. Then fizzymagic's "dial-up" explanation is probably not correct, as I'm not using a dial-up modem. HTH, BS/2
  6. Oh, all I'd expect is attributes being defined, so that they can be used in a standardized manner, where users of the gc.com can know how to interpret them correctly without contacting the owner of the listing before heading out for the cache. This seems to be an insurmountable effort.
  7. This could lead us back to the question already posed here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=117549 Oh: and what do you mean by "dial-up"?
  8. Happened similar on my "my account" page yesterday afternoon (UTC): only the left frame was visible (no text in there, of course) and no contents in the main central frame. Went away after an hour or so. I'm using Opera 8.51, by the way.
  9. Looks like I should have stayed in bed today... : Thx anyway.
  10. Ah yes. But it's still 5 in the afternoon, right?!
  11. Isn't it rather UTC+8=PST (or PST-8=UTC)?! So one in the morning in Seattle could be around five in the afternoon here, right?
  12. In case there is a regular shutdown (or something similar), could you please tell us the time (in UTC) - seems like afternoon to me. TIA, BalkanSabranje
  13. Sorry Jeremy, I must be somehow blind. Could you please direct me to the page where the attributes are explained/defined?? Or is this just some sort of (pre-)xmas riddle? TIA, BalkanSabranje Edit: changed one word to get a more friendly tone.
  14. Obviously, Groundspeak wanted to express something different, else they would have said somethin about snow, not about winter. We're about the same northern latitude as seattle and have snow from october 'till may/june - so there's no real connex to winter. Others might have winter and no snow at all...
  15. Maybe there is some odd way that sentence structure can determine whether you can do the cache in the winter. @ Jeremy: The attribute "available in winter" (icon showing a snowflake) is a very good (and widely disputed around here) example, because the wording of this attribute is SO absurd I higly doubt it could be worse. Most of the cachers falsely interpret it as "can be found despite snow". It all leads back to some simple questions: Is there any cache that is unavailable in just this period between dec. 21st and march 21st (resp. june 21 to sep. 23rd if your on the souther hemisphere)? If so, why isn't the cache simply temporarily disabled by the owners for the three months? If its about snow, why doesn't the title of the attribute say so? And how could the owner decide if others are anble to find the cache despite snow? etc. etc.
  16. Well, I do have different experience: http://arts-states.7to.de/gc-forum/viewtopic.php?t=1343 The "kid friendly"/"reommended for kids"-Icon is one of those that can be easily interpreted in very different ways: How old/ are the kids, is it a recommendation based on age or on interest etc. etc.
  17. I like the other changes, but this sentence is somehow irritating. As long as there is no definition of what those attributes stand for, it is quite difficult to use them. BalkanSabranje
  18. Multiple possible reasons: * Easier use of the HTML-code for another cache (as welch already pointed out) * Correction of errors (typos etc.) * Hiding of spoilers usable for other caches * Complete reuse of puzzles for another cache * Rearranging caches in series so that they fit to the layout of the other caches etc. etc. When there was still the option to "not show" an archived cache, this was not so much of a problem, but since they all show, you sometimes have to rearrange them to fit to your actual "impression management".
  19. THAT is still possible (just tested it with one of my old event caches).
  20. I rarely read sig lines; on the other hand I was happy to remember the time when I first read mine (must have been when I was 15 or 16).
  21. How can it be deleted as long as it is still viewable? And you won't tell us how one can use the archiving function for abuse, will you?
  22. I feel like rembering that I was able to edit my archived caches; now it's not possible anymore. Do I remember right, and if so, why has this been changed? TIA, BalkanSabranje
