  1. was the unit standing up or did you have it laying on its back? I've read that this will make a bit of difference. Just curious. It is nice to know what the GPSr will do before you have to use it in an area that is unfamilliare.
  2. I have set out two Geocoins and they have both been hijacked. I wont be spending anymore money on a Geocoin because people keep them. I set them out to travel not for others to keep.
  3. The 60cx came with a 64MB card in it and I recieved an additional 512mb for a $1 more. Haven't put the 512 in yet not sure I'll need to. I have put all of NM, 1/4 of wTx., 1/2 Ut., 3/4 Az, 2/3 Co.Guess I could load the 512 card incase i go out side that area. I can see that the map areas are smaller back east so you would want to load more. using CS NA v7
  4. We have a magellin Platinum and realy like it. You can upload straight from GSAK (after creatinga pocket quarie) or you can use GSAK and export the quarie to magellan. Then use mapsend to load it to the gps. The difference is:Straight from GSAK adds new waypoints to the exsisting points on the gps. From mapsend: Delets waypoints on gps and loads the new ones. I'm sure someone will post a step by step. I'm not very good at that. Love GSAK thanks Clyde for all the hard work. and everyone that has contributed.
  5. Thats what i would think. Am i wrong in thinking that the card expands on the memory?? The original 56mb in the unit plus the 64mb of the card. 56+64=120 someone has probably already asked this. point me to the proper thread if someone will please. Thanks
  6. i want to remove all the maps from my 60cx so i can upload a new set of maps. I can't find any reference to removing a map. turn it on turn it off. set up. what info is displayed. but nothing about removing. I have a 64mb card in the 60cx so i should be able to put 120mb of info in the unit.( 64 from the card and the 56mb from the unit itself)
  7. I don't remember one in my C. I reset everything to default in the X but no keypad light yet. I'm one ofthose that will just go with out it because i hate going through the return proses. I'm going to keep looking to see if there's a box that needs check marked.
  8. just drove home in the jeep and was sitting outside playing with the c and cx. C lights up and the CX didnt. guess i may be finding out how good Garmins waranty police is. boy i just got the cx3 days ago would be bumb out if i gotta send it back for a week or two.
  9. just read your PM. I have not sold it. Let me talk to the wife and I will get back to you.
  10. I have a 60c and a 60cx. just noticed tonight that the x doesn't light up the key pad when I turn the back light on. The C does. Any one else have any small differences that they have noticed. Realy like how fast the X aquires a sat. lock and how well it holds on to it. I have noticed a couple of times the map screen will freeze and leave the arrow marker an easy 50ft short of my actual position. The lat/lon are correct but the arrow is not in the right place. If i power the X off and back on it will catch up so to say.

  14. Thats simple enough. thats how i put the pocket quires on my magellen platinum also. i dont load them strat from GSAK very often anyway. time to goto (no pun intended) offroute and get my order in.
  15. I just read a thread that said the 60cx is having a problem using GSAK (I'm finding it a little work to get things the way I want and somethings don't work with the Cx yet like GSAK) Quote from Milbank on Giving up on explorist 600. Any one else having this problem. I plan on ordering a 60cx today. I have a 60c and it has no problem with GSAK.
  16. each of the waypoints have a check mark next to them. My old pc that ran windows ME. would print the icons. My laptop and new pc are running widows XP. Something with XP? Thanks for the check mark check. I'm sure it's something that simple that I'm overlooking.
  17. if i use my mapsource for my garmin the waypoint markers print. must be something with mapsend by magellen. (topo and streets and dest.)
  18. I like printing maps of the areas i'm caching in. recently whne i print i don't get the waypoint icon just the name of the cache. i've checked the options in the map screen and on the print preview. using the sme printer. i have changed computers but my laptop and desk top do the same thing. any ideas what to check next? thanks
  19. I to say thank you for the help. just recieved my 60C. haven't got a chance to use it for geocaching yet. First impressions I think i like my E600 geocaching feature better. Just first impressions. Will post more as they develope.
  20. I've had my Ex600 since May 05. Yes the arrow rubbed off, but i still know what the button is for. toggling up is an aquired skill, but i have also learned to work with that. The filling system is very nice and the fact that you are not limited on the size of maps is really nice also. Had to get use to the slightly smaller screen than my platinum, but the overall size is much easyer to put in my pocket. I could have saved some money and gone with the 500. I seldom use the elect. compass but owell. I for one of the few am pleased with the E600. Just for comparison I just ordered a 60C. Thought it would be fun to compare the two or three side by each and see what they each do.
  21. I have the Ex600. Wife got it for my b-day in may 05. I really like the filling system and the ability to switch between maps. The size is just right to for putting it in a pocket when I have to scramble up a hill or rock when I'm looking for a cache. I was disapointed when I learned that I had to expand my mapping software to the t3d. The mapsend topo I already had would not load onto the E600. I dont like the short batterie life. My meridian Platinum seems to have a much longer life spand. I'm seriously thinking about a 60C so I can compare the two first hand. My concern for the 60C isthe mapping software. From what i have read its not as good as my mapsend. Most of my caching is in the mountains around Silverton CO, and the hills of Farmington NM and some rock crawling in Moab UT. Am I going to have enough room for maps and caches on 56MB. And I'll probably need at least two different map softwares to get topo and city wont I. I can get a 60C, vehicle suction cup mount and vehicle power cord for about $365.00 input and feed back is appreciated. P.S. I have a 128 card in the E600 and its almost full: sd 90%, internal 56%. to much info stored in one place I know.
  22. caching is a good excuse to go four wheeling. i have seen so many cool places that i never new where out there. i love the chalenge of a puzzle and the great out doors.
