  2. I travel all over the country for work, and this unit is great! I fine buy! Kind Regards, LogJam
  3. Found some cool Geocaching designs at: Bumble Buttons - http://www.bumblebuttons.com Cheers, LogJam
  4. Due to the cold winter months and my high amounts of travel this time of year, I have not been able to go Geocaching for awhile. If I do not log a find for some time, will my account be deleted? Are we warned first? Kind Regards, LogJam
  5. Thanks for the responses. I will try the repositional disk, and as a back-up I have the mounting mat on the way! Kind Regards, LogJam
  6. Hello All: My recently purchased GPS V comes with two adhesive disks to put onto the bottom of the dash mount - one permanent, and one called "repositionable". Has anyone had luck (or problems) with this "repositionable" disk? Is it hard to get off the dash once it sticks? Is it hard to get it to stick to the dash? I ask because I have a company car, and often use rental cars for work and cannot permanently mount this anywhere, since I'll use it all over. I have considered getting the Garmin Portable Friction Mount, which uses the current car mount, but instead with rubber pads, i think. Thanks! Kind Regards, LogJam
  7. Good to know, good to know. Thanks, friend! Kind Regards, LogJam
  8. I recently received a Garmin GPS V. Quick question: If I install the software onto my work laptop, and later get a new laptop, change careers, etc. - am I stuck? Do I have to purchase a new unlock code or can I install to a new computer later? Thanks! LogJam
  9. Thanks for the cable link. I noticed there is none for the Gecko 101. Is there any way to upgrade the "firmware" for the 101, as well? Thanks, LogJam
  10. Did one today: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5-E6B357D7E5CA} Kind Regards, LogJam00
  11. Never one that close to my home, but several 0.5 mi away! Kind Regards, Mike
  12. I use my Gecko 101 and it has never failed me for Geocaching. Also, it looks like a cell phone, so if you are trying to be discreet - no problem. Plus, it is inexpensive, so if you break it, lose it, etc... then you are not out too much money. Kind Regards, Mike
  13. I've seen these kinds of things before. They are simply a pin with a blinking red light to be used as an attention-getter for the product in question - in your case Bud Light. I wouldn't worry. Kind Regards, Mike
  14. I have one of those "Page-A-Day" Calendars, which gives a cool website to look at each day. Just this month was a page about Geocaching.com. I had never heard of this activity until this calendar. I only have a handful of finds so far, but we all have to start somewhere, right? Kind Regards, Mike
  15. I definately would not put my GPS unit into my checked luggage. I put it into my carry-on. I fly every week, 3-5 days a week, and when you see the way luggage is handled you'll never want to put breakables or valuables into checked luggage. I once had a cell phone charger taken from my checked luggage. Never again will I put it in my checked stuff. Kind Regards, Mike
  16. All of semi's where I work have GPS on them so we can tell at anytime where they are located. We ship a lot of product that needs to be refrigerated, so time is of the essence. Of course, at this time of the year, its a lot easier! Kind Regards, Mike
  17. Geospotter, What link did you recommend? It doesn't seem to work... Thanks! Mike
  18. This is all very useful. Thanks. Oh, and I have no idea who that RubberToe is. Kind Regards, Mike
  19. Well, well, well... This IS good news. I will get the GPS V. Thank-you very much for the help. Kind Regards, Mike
  20. Interesting.... but is the Garmin GPS V also good for Geocaching? Thanks, Mike
  21. This was all very helpful. Thank-you to you all for your responses. I will probably go with the Meridian Gold - there is an all-in-one pack which includes the GPS, expansion card, software, and strap. This should work for both Geocaching and my work. Kind Regards, Mike
  22. Hello All, I hope it is OK to post a question of this sort. I really am overwhelmed by all of the GPS choices available. I read the FAQ's regarding, "Which GPS should I buy?" and looked at various other websites. I have narrowed my selection to either: eTrex Legend eTrex Vista Meridian Gold I want to use my future GPS for Geocaching, as well as in my car when travelling - since I travel quite a bit (all over the USA) for work. Anyone who could provide insight as to which of the above would best fit these needs, I thank you kindly. Kind Regards, Mike
  23. Hi All! I am brand new to your site and new at Geocaching. I am about to order my first GPS, and have been reading many of the forum posts. What dangers can be involved with Geocaching? Are many caches on private property, requiring special permission to access? I read in some posts about getting ticks and having to check each other after going into a tick-rich area. This may sound silly, but ticks are the thing that scare me - some are scared of spiders, some are scared of snakes, some are scared of clowns - for me it is ticks. Are ticks a common part of Geocaching? Kind Regards, Mike
