  1. You will also need to expand the time bar in the Top right of GE to be able to see them all - this had me puzzled for a while when only a couple of caches were showing
  2. I saw this on YouTube and it made me laugh, especially when it gets to the bit about muggles. I thought that with all the gloom around at the moment it would be good to share some fun to brighten things up a bit. Post any links that make you laugh photos or videos - no serious stuff!! Walk like a geocacher
  3. Waterproof trousers New boots Neck gaiter and some fantastic Ultra Activity Sealskinz gloves
  4. How does the cache information appear in the Dell, are they they same as web pages. What if someone has created thier cache page with HTML so they have tables etc included, do these appear as they do on the internet? I'm thinking about getting a Dell from ebay also
  5. Yes it's working for me too. Yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Something like your finders log is what I'm after - how did you import that tab into the excel?
  7. I'm not sure what else to add really. I want to some how be able to seperate the the different types of logs for trackables. so that I can get a list of cachers that discovered it, cachers who retrieved it and cachers who grabbed it. For each, I just need a list that has the date, the cacher and a link to the log. that's it really, nothing too complicated. I hope that helps - it will be good if you can do anything.
  8. yes, I am interested in being able to get a quick list of those who discovered it, in this case the the only person logging it in and out will be me.
  9. Click on "My Account" then under the heading "My Logs (last 30 days)" click on "Show all logs for "Bugs" you can then click on the following filters "Discovered it" "Dropped off" "Grab it" "Retrieve it from a cache" You can also do the same for caches and bench marks - it's quite neat, but a pity that the same filtering can't done on your own bugs and caches
  10. Thats a shame - may be something to consider for the future. It would be good to be able to filter the logs for th Trackables that you own in the same way that you can for the ones you have retrieved or discovered from other cachers.
  11. Sorry I wasn't very clear in my post, I do apologise. There are two parts to the misson Part 1) To accompany me on all my geocaching expeditions and Part 2) To be "discovered" by other geocachers that we meet along the way. so for the first part, I will "drop" if off into the cache I visit as I log the cache find and then straight away "retrive" again. for part 2, you are correct that it will be "discovered" but because it is a two part mission there will be several different types of logs recorded.
  12. I have just created a personal TB to log in and out of caches as I find them - as I meet other cachers as I'm out I will give them the number and ask them to discover it. Is there any way to sort the log data by type of log e.g. by "discovered it" or by "retrieved it" etc. Does any one know of a way to it online or through any sortware?
  13. Nice one seems to work for me too, thanks.
  14. It's still not working, so does anyone know how we can get the powers that be to sort it out, seems a bit pointless having a link if it doesn't show where the waypoint is. I expect that microsoft has changed something in the way that it works and will need to be updated in the links, probably a relatively small fix but who do we tell. I thought this was the place but with no response from anyone at Groundspeak I guess this was a wrong assumption
  15. For the last two days Live Maps have stopped showing the waypoints when I click on the Microsoft Map point link. Is anyone else having the same problem? It's a real pain as I always have trouble displaying google maps on my pc as they are very slow to download. Live Maps have very good satellite images and is quick to load but without the waypoint icon it is no use.
  16. Thanks for the tip off, got a few this evening on the way home from work.
  17. I've had a Satmap active 10 for 3 months, this is my first hand held gps devise so have no comparison to make against Garmin. I didn't originally buy it for Geocaching as at the time I hadn't heard about it, in fact I stumble across the sport as I was searching for a gps for normal walking. However, I have been using it for geo caching for the last few weeks and found it to do a cracking job. You can do paperless caching with it, if you use the GASK program. You need to carry spare batteries as the low battery warning is pretty hopeless but they will last for a mornings caching with the unit turned on all the time. The only disappointing thing is the time it takes to get locked on to Satallites (2-3 mins, but I've found the trick is to turn it on as soon as I park the car and by the time I've got my boots on we are good to go, then leave it on whilst caching but engage it's power saving mode to preserve batteries. Like you I was searching for reviews on which unit to buy and most reviews were very positive and I watched the channel 5 gadet show video on youtube where they were tested. Maps are pricy but I don't know how much they compare to other gps's devices, and when you buy them you can choose where you want the map centred on, but don't forget to take the price of these into account. I've also found that you can use microsoft live maps to create routes and then upload them to the satmap or vice verser. It also tracks your movement by laying down some red breadcrumb tracks and records stats about your walk as you such as speed, distance, time, elevation etc. http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/5155
  18. Thanks for the kind welcome. We got into caching as I stumbled upon it when searching the web for a GPS for walking. Since joining in the fun I've been amazed how big it is for something relatively few people seemed to have heard of.
  19. I downloaded it and unistalled it the same night, there still seems stuff wrong with it. It doesn't seem to support Iframes properly and visited a couple sites where it couldn't display. Very disappointed. When it did work well it appeared to super fast but will wait for the bugs to be sorted.
  20. Tara & Pip our two geohounds come out whenever they can, they are brilliant at keeping look out for muggles, when one comes in sight they bark to let me know. They also provide an excellent cover when a muggle passes by, no-one questions it when when you're in the middle of a bush when you have your dog with you. several times i've had to say to them "looks like we've lost your ball then!" But, what cover do you use when your out on your own in this situation? Apart from look slightly guilty and somewhat awkward! I' think there should be a Geodog Smilely as well.
  21. Thanks everyone some reassuring and helpful comments. Cheers
  22. I'm using the SATMAP ACTIVE 10. I bought it for walking and at that time I hadn't heard about Geocaching at all.
  23. I've got a SatMap Active 10 GPSr and have been using 1:25k (explorer) level OS maps with it for Geo Caching and it works a treat. But.... The 1:25k scale maps are expensive so was looking at buying a 1:50k (Landranger) scale card which will cover a larger area for less cost. But before I buy, does anyone have a view to whether the 1:50k scale is sufficient detail for Geocaching. Any views or expeiriences of using this scale are greatly received.
  24. I'd like all the Counties please, including Scotland & Wales.
