  1. Thanks JRI for everything that you do to keep this script alive, I'd be literally lost (excuse the pun) with out it!
  2. I use a compact Canon Powershot they give pretty good photos and don't weigh you down. https://www.flickr.c...geocachetrails/
  3. Is anyone using Windows 10 and GME with Bing OS maps working. Before I upgrade to Windows 10 I want to make sure that I'm not going to suddenly be without OS maps on GC.com Thanks
  4. Google Social Hiking or check out http://www.shareyouradventure.com it's a social hiking website mainly used in the UK but it's amazing. It tracks your location on a map and when you tweet it shows the tweet at your position on the map. So people chat to you via twitter whilst you are walking it will also show photos from twitter or Flickr too. Video also if you have bandwidth and audioboos. It creates a multi media record of your caching trip. I've just begun using it myself.
  5. I'll try to put a fix for this bug in the next version of GME. As a workaround, you should be able to make the exported route work in Basecamp if you open it in a text editor and delete the <name>, <desc>, <author>, and <time> lines from near the top of the file. However, this won't necessarily help you see an altitude profile of the route, as the file exported from GME doesn't have any altitude information in it in the first place. You will need to import the GPX into an application that can look up the height data online. GME can look up spot heights, but it isn't practical to extend it to try to get elevation along a route. That works fine thanks and basecamp seems to add the altitude info on import so all good. Thanks - great job
  6. The route tool is great but I'm not sure of the best way to use it with Basecamp. I am saving it as a GPX file but it won't import into Basecamp I get an "unknow error opening import file" I have found that I can use gpsvisualizer.com to convert the file which will then import into basecamp. However, there is no altitude data so I can't see a profile graph of the route. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to use the Route Tool / GPX file with Garmin Basecamp.
  7. It works for me! Enhanced searching was one of the things that was broken by the recent website update, but should have been fixed in GME v0.7.0. If you have already updated, it could be that you still have an old version installed too. I will shortly update the troubleshooting pages to cover this possibility. I have noticed that searching by GC-code is still broken - I will fix this in the next update. If the above doesn't help, you will have to give me some more clues: What are you trying to search for? Which search page are you using (geocaching.com/map or geocaching.com/seek)? Which browser are you using? Downloads: https://openuserjs.o...ap_Enhancements Main documentation: http://geo.inge.org.uk/gme.htm Troubleshooting: http://geo.inge.org.uk/gme_trouble.htm Custom map examples: http://geo.inge.org.uk/gme_maps.htm Custom map technical configuration: http://geo.inge.org.uk/gme_config.htm Thanks, I was on 6.9.2 which was the last version that automatically updated. I tried updating in manually after you replied to my problem by search for updates via Firefox add ons but that failed. I then clicked on the link for usersripts.org on the greasemonkey user scripts page but the site was down and the only way of getting onto it was with this url http://userscripts.org:8080 but 0.6.9.2 was the last update.. I then clicked on the download link above and it took me to a new site with version 7 which I installed and it now works. It looks like userscripts has been down for some time and perhaps you have changed hosting sites. Any way all working now, hopefully the automatic updates will recommence. Thanks great script and invaluable.
  8. I'm noticing that "SEARCH" no longer works, I have to turn off GME and refresh the browser to use the GC.com search.
  9. If you use firefox then you can use the brilliant Geocaching Map Enhancement plugin that bring full 1:25000 OS maps for free. There is a tool on it where you can plot a route and down load a gpx file. You can use Garmins Free Basecamp to convert it into a track if your gps doesn't use routes.

    Maps not working

As I see it, the issue is that Groundspeak made a change to the website and that introduced a bug that stops maps working properly with certain routers. The routers themselves are not at fault in my opinion, but a workaround for those who seem to find themselves with a problem is to turn the firewall off on the router. Everyone that I have suggested it too has found that it solves the problem. Maps may work when you are not logged in even if you have not touched your firewall. But if you log in and they don't work try switching off the firewall and if they start working again then it supports my point that it is.a bug that affects users that are logged in. The changes may have also affected access in other ways. At a guess it is affecting users with older modems. My big grouch is that there seems to be very little response to the issue from Groundspeak.

  13. Hi Bumbles, check out my website http://www.geocachetrails.com it has a map of the UK and where most of the trails are located, most of them are suitable for walkers rather than drivers. You may be able to locate some in the vicinity of public transport. Hope it is of some help to you.

    Maps not working

What router do you have and have you tried turning off the firewall on it? I have turned the Firewall off and it appears to be working OK. I have a SNA5630NS/05 badged as TalkTalk but possible manufactured by Phillips. Should I leave the Firewall off or is there something else I should do? Thanks for your help At the moment if you want Maps to work then you will need to leave the firewall off your router, if you are able to, it could be worth seeing if there is a firmware update that you can apply that may fix your router . You should always have a firewall to protect your PC from external attacks but if you have an antivirus software with a firewall then you should be ok until Groundspeak fix the issue. I think that this is the 3rd type of router now that I have heard that blocks the website, I do hope that Groundspeak are investigating the problem as it does feel very much like the problem stems from the recent changes to the map tiles. I think that is the 3rd make of router that has a problem, I hope that Groundspeak are looking at it.

    Maps not working

I agree, I'm reasonably happy leaving my firewall off the router because I have a software firewall on all my machines but you could always turn it off and on as you need to use the maps until the Lacky's find out what is causing the issue. Further thought, check your router has the latest version of the firmware. Unfortunately mine is an old model and I can't get it to check the latest version so i have just emailed Belkin as the have a life long guarantee against defects and workmanship, I don't know how I will stand with this but worth a try.

    Maps not working

Hi eaglegale, in the command window after running tracrt, right click and select "mark" then you will be able to highlight the text and then ctrl-c and ctrl-v into a notepad to email. Re the firewall, I have a firewall on my router and a firewall on my anti virus and have windows defender running so think that I'm protected. If I were you i'd try turning off your router firewall to see if that is the same cause to the problem. For a short time whilst you test gc.com you should be ok. I tried turning off webroot first and still no map. I then turned off my router firewall and bingo instantly fixed it. I knew it had to be something like that as it was the only think common in my house for two seperate PC's that would not display maps. good luck

    Maps not working

Thank you Raine for all your help yesterday on email. This morning I tried several more things but eventually pinned it down to my routers firewall. As soon as I turned it off it started working again, fingers crossed it will continue to work. I have a belkin router it's quite old now but don't know why it has suddenly began misbehaving.
