  1. To qualify, we are still newbies. I do try to log our DNFs cause I think it helps out subsequent cachers. I notice when a cache has several DNFs and I hold off till another time for such caches as they maybe over my experience. But when I cannot find a a cache I do not presume to think the cache is missing just bc my inexperienced geocaching sense cannot locate the darn little container. If we can not find a cache we (I) would not presume it is washed away or missing unless under extreme conditions, and even then I think I tend to just post a generic DNF. The owner could judge for herself/himself. I think it is presumptious to post that the cache is missing or not in the correct place unless the cacher is really experienced and has some reason to believe the cache is missing (heavy, heavy rains, previous repeated DNFs etc). I guess really experienced is pretty subjective. Us new cachers do appreciate the patience of those more experienced. AND I do think we could be careful in what we note as missing Thanks :-)
  2. Hi I am from Northern BC, Dawson Creek. My favorites so far have been the VanDyke Reunion cache in Dawson, and the Leprechaun caches in Black Creek (not finished those yet though) Happy caching!
  3. I like the idea of the OFF wipes. I will keep my eye out for those. And I certainly could have used those a few times! I have found a CD that a cacher had burned music they like on it, that was neat. We found a leatherman style tool in one cache that was also really cool. I have left unactivated coins/TB tags in several and they always go quickl. Other items we have left: decks of cards, mini inspirational books, polished rocks, stress balls, folded up reusable environmental bags. My son has wanted to trade books however we have rarely found a cache that could hold that size, and also many of the caches have had some moisture in them. It is useful to take ziplock bags and dry wipes with you to put swag in, and to wipe out the cache if needed. And we enjoy finding activated travel bugs and coins. It is neat to look them up online even if we are not able to move them along. (We are not high volume enough to move them along very quickly) It is a great geography lesson for us all to see where they have travelled. Thanks
  4. Sexy! yeah, that crossed my mind. mmmhmmm! Crossed mine too! I appreciate the dialogue on this subject. While I do not find the picture to be racist I do understand some do and it is therefore inappropriate.
  5. I hear you. Would be way nicer to have much more caching time. Just not going to happen right now, but it is something I try to work into travel/holiday plans.
  6. We have no concerns about taking our children to cemeteries, and we enjoy the experience and history. I do think it is appropriate that the cache description eludes to the fact it is in a cemetery for those who do not feel comfortable there.
  7. Ow, that hurts. Very glad it wasn't your GPS or daughter!! Good story to tell I guess! ;-)
  8. Wow - Vegas - chill! It sounded like stealing to me! You said you "have access" to and that you "grab" the containers from the hospital where you work. I think that assuming you were just helping yourself to hospital property was a pretty logical conclusion. What is really cool is that, since they are being discarded because they are expired, is that you are actually recycling them. Very cool! I'd love to see a photo of one. The only thing that comes to mind is those clear sterile cups they make you pee in and I'm guessing you're talking about something different. Oh trust me I am chilled, very chilled Access and grab sound very different from stealing to me, I guess people just try to read into things. Helping myself to anything at the hospital is definitely out of the question because of the security cameras and check points. We do get some cool pens for free from time to time though, my favorite was one from Viagra It was actually the ideas of one of the Doctor's to use the containers since he knows I cache. They are about the size of a small coffee can with a large rubber o-ring on the top, they are only good for one use and if they are not used with 6 months they are tossed. I'll see if I can get a pic of one with all of the stickers and warnings and post it. Where I work this would not be an inappropriate question... expiried sterile containers, (how about expired risperidone for those that need it!), or any other hospital owned item still needs appropriate authorization to remove from premises. A docs idea is hardly authorization. I think the light comment on the appropriateness should be taken as meant - lightly.
  9. This is great, I laughed out loud! Love the thread, thanks everyone
  10. Seems to be quite slow for me as well, but happy it is up!
  11. This is refreshing to see. It is wonderful to live where such trust can occur. Altho it is likely some pilferage would occur here (as it would anywhere most likely...), for the most part this would work here. Our hospital cafeteria functions on the honor system for hours outside of lunch hour. Thanks for the post!
  12. Yes, welcome Rhainne!! I agree with previous comments... I, too , enjoy learning from the forums however am not comfortable when the bashing and negativity takes over (which is too often for my tastes).
  13. I have ordered from landsharkz and have been very pleased as well.
