  1. Thanks so much everyone!!! I did what you said and it worked....Thanks again and have a nice weekend!!
  2. Originally posted somewhere else. I think that this is the best place for it now.... Hey all!!! Quick question...I have been having trouble getting geocaches sent to my garmin etrex venture hc. I hit the "send to gps" button and it says that it downloaded successfully but nothing is in the geocache section on my garmin. I can get it to work once in a while if I keep hitting the "send to gps" button. The "send to gps" function works fine with my nuvi. I unplug it, plug in my venture and it doesnt transfer. I just intalled new batteries as well. I have updated my venture (didnt need anything) and the webupdater as well. I have windows vista (but it worked fine a couple of months ago). Thanks in advance! Weird....just decided to do something,,,,I tried sending caches to my venture that were all in my the county that I live in and they transferred fine. I then went to where I am going tomorrow (about 2.5 hours away) and they wouldnt transfer...went back to my area on the map and they transferred fine...am I an idiot? what the heck is wrong? Just tested it again and it seems that it doesnt work for the area that I am visiting tomorrow. I can transfer any cache in NY state except near the Lake George area. What could possibly cause that?

  4. Thanks for your quick reply but I have no idea? I think GPX and software? Im sorry I cant help YOU with your questions. I never had to do anything with sending to either one of my two garmins (nuvi and venture hc). I just always hit that "send to GPS" button. It has always worked....just not lately with my venture...

  6. Just checked Navicache..Searched my area and the closest cache was 11 miles away, which is WAY wrong. Plus, the cache has not even been there for over 5 years! Just checked Terracache..On the site for a few minutes, I was confused and still had no idea what I was looking at. The forum was a joke. The latest post was on March 31 and it had the most replies of any thread in the forum with a wopping......4! I think that I will stay here but thanks anyway...
  7. I don't usually go after LPC's. The only two that I have done in my area, I did without a GPS, basically by accident, while shopping. For both caches, I was getting out of my car and remembered that there were caches placed somewhere in the parking lot. I kind of remembered, from briefly looking at the map a couple of weeks earlier, where they were in the parking lot. In both instances, I just walked up to the "suspected" LP, lifted the skirt, and there it was...Wow, that was hard. I looked around, took in the beautiful view of the parking lot, took some pics of the gorgeous scenery, traded some SWAG, and really felt that I accomplished something. Yeah right....LAME in my opinion!
  8. I have placed 5 caches in cemeteries. These all are old, forgotten, and uncared for. For each one, I have done extensive research (local library/internet) to place in the listing/cache. Each cache has a theme, they are not just placed there. I also include a typed list of EVERY person who is buried at the cemetery and include that in the cache itself. The caches are all towards the back and well away from any tombstone. I have always received great feedback from the logs with the most popular quotes being, "Thanks for bringing me here, I never new it existed" and "Thanks for the History lesson!".
  9. Hello all, I have a question about Multi Cache's. Is there an unwritten (or written for that matter) rule about how far away each stage of a multi should be or am I just worrying too much? Kind of hard to explain but here goes......I want to place 4 stages (including the final) around a small pond. The pond is just off a trail system that has two entrances. The pond is directly between these two entrances. I wanted to make it easy to do from both ways not just one. The length of the journey (the stages only, not the hike in) would be about 1/4 of a mile. Is that too short to have 4 stages? From stage 1 to stage 2 (415 ft), from stage 2 to stage 3 (670 ft), and from stage 3 to Final (345 ft). The places that I have chosen are perfect and cannot be changed. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it. Todd
  10. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. Wish me luck!!
  11. Quick question for you all: What do you think about hiding a micro inside a gazebo at a local park? There is a catch, however, I noticed today when I was "researching" the spot that the gazebo is in MEMORY OF two people that passed away a couple of years ago.. Does that really matter do you think? It is a small 4"X6" sign that is located at the top of the gazebo. Thanks in advance.
