  1. Same thing happened to my 2 yr old Venture - Sent Garmin an e-mail asking what the price of the repair would be and their respose was that they would repair it F.O.C. Sent it away to them and it came back with a new rubber. Iain
  2. But it's far more accurate! I use mine (Set to KM/H) as a speedo when I'm driving in France
  3. If you aren't using the slots for anything else, I would recommend 2 cards every time - Saves you losing everything if a card dies on you. Iain
  4. Another hx4700 user here - If you can find one they are a fantastic piece of kit - I have owned palm devices (Palm III and IV) and several Toshiba PPC's and the 4700 knocks the spots off all of them. Iain
  5. Thanks for all your suggestions - Gives me some ideas to go back to the leader with. Iain
  6. I happened to mention geocaching to junior junior Sheard's Beaver leader (Beavers is a pre Cubs thing for those who don't know) and I now see that it has been included in next terms activities with myself listed as the parent helper! What would the more knowledgeable cachers recommend as the best approach to dealing with introducing 18 or so 6-8 year olds to caching? Should I set up something temporarily for them to find, use an established cache, or encourage their leader to set up a cache in their name. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Iain
  7. I use a RAM Mount ( http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ ). Very solidly manufactured and Garminesque customer service. Iain
  8. I too have used PC-Mobile for the necessary cables to connect my eTrex Venture to my old Toshiba PPC - No problems at all with either the servie or the cables. Iain
  9. Surely, if this stuff was so good, they'd be out using it, not trying to sell it? Iain
  10. I also have a 4700, having previously owned a series of Toshiba PPC's (E310, e330 and e740). The 4700 is a fantastic piece of kit, very well put together with a glorious screen. Some people don't like the touchpad, but it works for me. It is the most stable PPC I have owned and I wouldn't be without it. Iain
  11. I use mine as a digital speedo (Reading in Km) when we are driving through France to my In-Laws place. Iain
  12. Could it be that Garmin's 'Legendary' customer service is becoming a thing of the past? To be fair, I haven't even tried to find out how about getting mine repaired, so don't know how much they'd charge me. Iain
  13. My Venture is doing the same - If I don't use it for a while, it stops working - A few seconds of frantic wiggling usually sorts it out. Iain
  14. Once you've discovered your CF slot, you can pop over to http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/Kingston/...pact/Flash/Card and buy something to fill it up! Iain
  15. Yes you are - Check here: http://h200004.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support...11/lpia8011.pdf And look at items 15 and 16. Iain
  16. My Dad has the GPS, has been and found a couple of his local caches, always comes with me when I am with them and go caching, but won't take that final step and log his finds. I think he's in denial! Iain
  17. Our surname is Sheard and there's more than one of us - Imaginative aren't we?
  18. Izzardno1, Look here http://www.bug-geroff.co.uk What a great name for an insect repellant! Iain
  19. Nobody leaping to the defence of MK? It's really not that bad once you get used to it! Iain
  20. The reason this happens is that the fornt face of the eTrex is the only one without a grippy rubberised surface. When any other face of the GPSR contacts clothing as it swings, it grips and spins. When the front hits clothing on the swing it just slides. It's a constant annoyance to me! Iain
