  1. I think we lost the Tigger's Expedition TB either on the Sandy Creek run or the Bear Valley run. I'm hoping it's somewhere in the house and just didn't make it into the truck but if anyone does those caches can you look around the obvious parking spots? We haven't done any caches since we picked it up at the Forbidden Forest except those - and didn't want to leave any TB's in those anyway - but did open up the box with the TB's in it to put in a TB we picked up at a SC cache and also to take out our own TB at one of the BV caches. It's very sad because it was a very special TB (take a look at it's page). We put the other TB's in The Forbidden Forest last night so there is a slight chance it ended up back in that cache, but I don't think so.
  2. Oh, excellent! Thanks! That's one for the "scrapebook"!
  3. Hehe, everyone was too busy hanging on in Bear Valley to use the camera (unfortunately, all I had was the Treo)! I think a lot of the photos of the Sandy Creek trip might be spoilers as well, so they probably won't show up in a public place.
  4. Yeah, I've been eyeing that cluster for a while (having driven by it 6 times in the last month or so).
  5. Harmon, you might try to plan your lessons so they appear on the posts that are multiples of 50 + 1 so that they'll be easy to find. Like maybe in about 45 more posts?
  6. This is a simulation of our Bear Valley run (since I didn't take any pictures) - it's not our actual truck, we don't have that license plate (tempting though) or frame, but that is Bear Valley! Thank you all for helping us score more caches in two days than we usually score in 4 months!
  7. This'uns 'specially fer the Sandy Creek Cowboys:
  8. I'm assuming you mean tomorrow. Dayang! Shore is hard to keep up with you ladies!
  9. What caches are along it besides it's namesake? Are they more of a hike from the road than the ones today? I'm not worried about whether the truck can handle it - it's whether my family handle it! Although, I suspect it might be some time before I convince them to join me again on any back country cache events!
  10. I got a nice'un 'n th' skidplate coverin' th' front diff'rential, th' tires look like they gotta good workout and I did stick mah mirrors in th' shrubbery a coupla times t' see what might be lurking in thair. The rest of th' invent'ry will have t' wait 'til I can actually see th' paint!
  11. B.R.A, Trailgators, Miragee, SmilingLady13, Duganrm & Jess and the four Ahimsas (did I miss anyone?) made the Bear Valley run today. It was our first off-pavement experience in our truck - what fun (for me!)! The family burned out on the 3-hour jarring ride and after the umpteenth decon container so we turned around at Bearly Halve (only took an hour to get back!). The rest of the event team went on to (hopefullly) complete the loop. We saw PassingWind and PW Jr. heading down the trail as we headed back. Saw a jeep that looked like Dan-oh's a bit further down the road, but wasn't sure if it was. Ok, for you 4WD afficionados - how does the road being contemplated for next weekend (Old Burma Road) compare to Bear Valley? Preferably from someone who doesn't feel comfortable driving a PT Cruiser on those roads! Hehe, I was expecting something like the road through Sandy Creek ("sure, you can drive a PT Cruiser on it") - boy, was my family surprised! I think they were happily surprised to know our truck can traverse that stuff - considering I only hit the skidplate once! (Harmon, good point about picking th' thangs up - can't do that with our truck) Thanks for organizing this - I really enjoyed it! Hopefully someday I can complete the series - maybe when the gate is found unlocked!
  12. I have to say, after having driven most of Bear Valley Road today, that I find this a bit hard to believe! How much of that cruiser did you leave behind?!
  13. Someone deserves kudos fer findin' an' replacin' th' Sandy Creek Cowboy Cache #9 (I think) today - I just don't know who! Patcher self on the back!
  14. Reminder for the Bear Valley jaunt: I hope the ride isn't as wild as the elevation graph indicates! I don't want to scare my kids!
  15. Hey, it was great to meet y'all today - Duganrm, B.R.A, Miragee, SmilingLady13, Chuy, Dan-oh, PassingWind, DHSundance, etc. Looks like I got 18 caches today and it's barely noon! Looking forward to another adventure tomorrow!
  16. Don't worry, you aren't obsessed yet - if you were, you'd have left an hour ago to pick off some parking lot micros on the way... hello, hello? duganrm? you still there?
  17. I don't understand that pie shaped part of the route on the left - it look like you can just cut over to the 8 from GCNXRQ -> GCNXQM -> GCNTZB (assuming you can start from the southern end - maybe not a good assumption). I was going to bring the family along Friday so I don't want to do anything extreme! I wonder if I can get the ones south of the gate tomorrow, if possible, so I don't have to double back for those Friday, but that's probably a bit too optimistic considering how little time I'll have.
  18. Lookie here: Bear Valley Road (16S12) Open Descanso San Diego Cty There is a locked gate approximately 1 mile northwest of Buckan Springs Road.
  19. Oh, never mind - google turned that up out of context - here's the current status: The Cleveland National Forest is currently in High fire danger. No mention of closed gates there. They do close the Bear Valley gates when the Fire Danger Level is Extreme
  20. Hehe, no, just reminding anyone who didn't know (like me) to dress warm!
  21. I'll add my vote for Forbidden Forest - that was great fun!
