What is the road like?
-
At MTRP, about 20 minutes. I hear there are geocachers camped out on the hills watching for new caches to be placed.
-
Oh, thanks for that info - I've somehow completely missed that discussion so I'll search the forums for it now! On edit: Found it - I have to digest how this would fit in with that. I don't think I'd want to have to manage who can see my "log blog". But if there's a downside to making it easy to read someone's logs (really, all this does is save them from clicking a few dozen more times and loading a bunch of unnecessary pages they can find anyway), maybe whether it shows or not could be a user preference?

Yes, since you access it through your account overview page. Knowing it was there is what prompted me to ask what you were looking for. MrCOgeo beat me to pointing it out. I kinda like the idea have having your logs listed on another tab in your profile for others to look at. I like reading the logs of my brother and daughter, but bouncing around in the caches the visited can be a real pain and I imiagine it doesn't do the server load any favors either. I think it would also be cool if the uploaded images were embedded in the log (like the ones that pop up when you mouseover them in the cache log, except no popping up necessary - but that size). The logs could be displayed 10 at a time, and you could page through them (like bookmarks, etc) to go back in time, if displaying more is too much bandwidth-consuming. Another tab on the profile page would be fine - it could be "Geocaching Journal" or something.

Thanks, that's actually very close to what I was thinking of (although, not being limited to 15 and paging to earlier logs would be a bonus) - how do you get to that page (other than the direct URL you pasted)? (never mind, found it) I get the feeling that that page can only be seen by you though, is that right?
-
I'm not sure how you'd get to it. Basically I mean a page of a user's logs, in descending date order, like a blog. Similar to what you see on a cache page.

TrailGators and I were talking about the GC banner photos today. FYI, here are the current photos in the queue: Large Banner Images Small Banner Images Trying to find local photos here shows the importance of having an informative photo caption! I did spot a couple SD photos though:

I have no idea how well one of these might work for geocaching, but I like where they are heading (phone, internet, camera/video, gpsr, cachemate in one device): HP iPAQ hw6940 Mobile Messenger Now that there's a windows version of cachemate, it's something to consider. It would be nice if it had one of those new SiRF chips. I currently use a Treo and a 60cs and it's a great combination but it is still two devices to juggle.

This is not at all a necessity, but I think it might be cool if there was a page that showed our logs in a "blog" format, similar to the Cache logs in the user profile, except with the actual logs displayed (sort of like the cache page logs, except by user instead of cache). Of course, it might not seem very appealing to those cachers who just say "TNLNSL TFTC" in their logs. Thanks for listening!

SDCET traffic jam at LAhZY P.S. Excuse the photos - taken with a cell phone!

Oranges Poranges! w/bonus benchmark I actually shot some video too, for a change, but too lazy at the moment to find a place to put it so anyone can see it.

Stop and Look at 3700 Indiana Jones (not really, Ancient Oak Tree Cache)

If you look at yesterday's webcam, and set it to animate (!), you can watch all the snow melt! Looks like it's gone now.

Depending on how early I get up, I may just try to catch the 395 caches and meet you at 76/15.

I found his specific thread on that, and used Mapsource to make my route and GSAK to make an arc filter from that. I don't think it's going to miss any caches because it's using the actual route, not just a couple of points. Normally I just keep the caches within 10 miles from home (ok, I have a LOT of caches to find still) in the GPSr and many times I'll find myself somewhere with no nearby caches loaded in the GPSr. I'm sure that becomes less of a problem once you've found 1000+ caches! I collect all the caches in San Diego out to the Salton Sea in my regular PQ's, so it's nice to make sure any that I might pass by are in the GPSr even if I stray off the planned route by a few miles. So in this case, an arc filter is exactly what I needed! Works well! Thanks to RM for the info!

Hey, we need some time to grab all the caches on the way to the meeting spot!
-
That looks like fun! Weather looks clear thru Sunday! Do you happen to have a GSAK arc filter for that route? Or how do you get all the caches along the route into your GPSr? Or I suppose, with all your finds, you can almost fit all the remaining caches in the county in your GPSr now!

I'm might manage to get out of my cave and join you for the morning part of this. What is the current snow level up there, if any?
-
Can anyone who frequents the desert keep us updated on how the flowers are looking out there? It seems we've had enough rain (and snow!) to make for quite a display this year and we want to make sure we catch them at their peak!! Thanks!

Hey! that's a great video. Guess I'll have to fire up my video editing suite. Just imagine, a Geocaching pitch from an auto manufacturer. Maybe we've hit the big-time. That's awesome TFTC! The possibilities are now endless..... Here's one to honor John & Jess's latest FTF:The adventures of John & Jess

Hehe, you don't even have to - you can make your own right there. I made that one! Nice work. I've held back on introducing video productions to this thread. So now maybe the ice is broken? I have Adobe Premiere Pro (not current version) - what suite do you use? It'll be interesting to see how we post video clips here!
