  1. The Hide and Seek map works pretty well. And I will go Premium, thanks. Building a relationship with my volunteer reviewers also makes sense. Thanks!!!
  2. Wow, some great inspiring ideas people! Thank you very much. And I will go learn by doing and hunting.
  3. I am new to this but really dig hiding caches more than finding them. The 500-foot rule makes total sense but is there an effective way of researching previous placements in the target area before I go to the trouble of planting and posting my cache only to find out that it's too close to a previously planted cache? So far I've been lucky... :-)) Currently, I pull up a listing of local caches by entering my zip and inspecting the resulting lists (pages worth!) and GOOGLE map. But I often worry that there is one I have missed... Thanks for your help! Hernando
  4. Hey all. I'm new to geocaching though I've used my GPS for mountain biking in the OC for 11 or 12 years. But I've been bitten by the bug and picked up a 60 CSx and have discovered the joys of hiding more than finding. I suspect hiding scratches some unmet creative itch...I've hidden four in two days and have a bunch more ideas. I've been pretty uninspired as far as hiding my caches, often placing them under rocks and such. So, give me a quick primer on more creative ways to stash my caches to make it more fun and perhaps challenging for my hunters. Thanks in advance for your ideas!!! Hernando
  5. Two completely n00b questions: • What is a GPSr? Just a plain GPS receiver used in conjunction with a cell? • Is the 3G iPhone's "GPS" more accurate than the original's? I have the original iPhone and it's pretty sloppy because of the way it bases locations on cell quadrants. Thanks!
  6. First of all, congratulations on your new 60! I recently acquired mine after ten years of light use of a III Plus (mostly for mountain biking in the OC when I lived there). I'm no expert but the way I use the Compass page is select the cache via Find then select Go To. I keep the red pointer as close to the top center of the compass page as possible. When there's no direct head-on route towards the cache it will point to one side as I pass it but I try to find the first opportunity to head in a direction that will re-align the arrow with the top center mark. I sure hope what I wrote was clear and makes sense to you... Good hunting! Hernando
  7. Thanks Ron. My memory must be failing! I spent all night obsessing on getting the geo caches not to show. Ha ha. Silly.
  8. Hi all, a newbie here. It seems to me that when I first got my 60, the geo caches would not show when I used a Find / Waypoint. They only showed when I used Find / Geo Caches. Now they show mixed in with my plotted waypoints whenever I do a Find / Waypoint. Did I mess something up or is it just an overactive imagination and failing memory? And if not, how do I restore things so that geo caches do not clutter up my waypoint list whenever I Find? Thanks all. This is a neat new interest of mine! Hernando
