  1. Who can say what the heck is going on these days. I am 3 for 3 in the stolen cache business. I am beginning to think that it is almost as big a game to steal and collect caches as it is to just find them. I agree about the sense of loss over the log books-therein lies the biggest bite for me in all this. And, once again just as I think ah, rats I'm chuckin' this game cause someone came along and stole my cache-same day I get an email that my puttin' out a new cache at The Troll site inspired someone else to renew one of their plundered sites. That inspires me to do it again...one more time.. What will be, will be Team Teasel []

  9. I have been wondering what the ages of Geocaching players are. So I have formed this informal poll to see. This is effort number two-so here goes... Click your age range below. Is this meant to mean anything?-no, it is just for interesting fun. [This message was edited by Team Teasel on August 16, 2002 at 11:15 PM.]

  12. I know of two in Southern California. One is supposed to be easy but, I bought a climbing rope for protection the next time I try to find it. It is supposed to be on this desert slope that is full of yucca plants. Those bad boys hurt when they stab you, as my first attempt proved. The other dangerous cache was purposefully place on the face of a cliff! The author clearly tells you that you better be a darn good climber or a pro to go after it. I believe him! In closing, I am a scuba diver and am contemplating doing an underwater cache. Obviously you would have to be a certified diver to go get it as it will be too deep for most people to even attempt. I guess pearl divers are excluded but it will be in cold, cold water so maybe not. I do not want it to be any more dangerous that recreational diving already is-but there's the rub. A diver's cache does have its dangers. Seems then there are two types of dangerous caches. Those that could be dangerous unintentionally and those that have advertised, known dangerous elements in or about them. Come to think of it, I just read about a cache on Mt.Hood In Oregon, where the author put the cache in some rocks and reported that it is in a really snakey place and for cachers not to put their hands in the rock holes to look for the cache but, to use hiking sticks!!! I don't know if this is the type of response you were looking for-hope it is! This is Easel of Teasel signing off. Team Teasel []

  14. Hey gang-thanks for so much imput. I am really flattered by your effortful and thoughtful responses. Especially Nice to hear from Jeremy, Charles and Precocious!!!! A note to Jeremy; I had was wondering if Groundspeak would be interested/willing to run a page for folks to log plundered caches-patterns can lead to prevention... In the mean time thanks to you good folks, I am back in the game. Just reading all your enteries was so refreshing I got pumped to cache all over again. In fact I recent replaced the Troll cache now Teasel's Troll Treasure Trove II-same park, new location. On another thought, I was imagining the poverty of the soul(s) that felt they needed or wanted to plunder caches. No offense to anyone, but my realizing there has been no cache I have seen that I wanted it all, brought it home to me once again, to how good I got it and well, perhaps, how bad those that steal, don't. But, my goodness there does seem to be an uncomfortably lot of those souls about. It seems like everyone has had a cache plundered. Tends to make me wonder how often it really is happening. Another idea I had was to lock my cache container in place and lock it closed. You find it, give me the cache code # on the container by email and I will give you the combo to open it. Yeah it is a 2 step process, but...but...but! Sure they could still steal it but, the less than charitable side of me says that at least they would have to work really, really hard at it...and for what? I am definately feeling better about all this you guys. You are the Best! Keep on Cachin'-I am! This is Easel of Teasel signing off!!! Eek Team Teasel []

  16. Our Team uses two. A year ago we started with our Team Teasel Traveling wooden coins with our name, town & State and the date with a tag attached requesting cachers to log in where they find it and put it later on. When the tag is full the last cacher is requested to mail it to our postmistress and she passes it on to us. Feed back on the coins is revealed by watching the web log ons at the sites at which they were left. We later began our Traveling Stars that carry our email addresses requesting that cachers email us directly. This has provided fairly immediate responses and just a whole lot of fun. We like both items. In southern California DredPirate Roberts leaves pirate items as a signature item and prize to first finders and there are a couple of fellas that leave autographed copies of their book as their signature item. This is one of the most fun aspects of the game for us as long after we have left the field the connection to the game keeps on going! At one site, these guys left a picture of themselves at that site and slipped their pic into an envelope with email add on it and a request to move their impromtu hitchhiker along. We added a pic of us imitating thier exact pose as friends of "the hitchhikers" and passed it all on in another cache! Way Fun! We are proud owners by the way of a prized "stump"-thanks tons Bryon and Anne! This is Easel of Teasel signing off! Team Teasel []

  18. Another cache of ours has just been looted. Worse, we just got word that somebody has looted someone else's cache but left the log book with the last entry using our name and saying we did it!!!! We've never even been to the cache in question. This is burnin' us up and wrecking the game. Is anybody doing anything about Looters? Tell us what we can do to identify and/or stop the bums-please! Team Teasel []

  20. Thanks for the replies-you have hit upon what it is that we seek. Will be visiting some of those caches this summer. Look for a pic of Kujo in the Pet Pics cache soon. Am interested in more! This is Easel of Teasel signing off!

  22. I am interested in locating theme caches anywhere on the West coast (California, Oregon, Washington). For example: shoe tree (a cache where you put a shoe or two in a tree), charlie Brown's tree (where you put anything that will stay in the tree), key chain cache, zoo cache etc..
