  1. I have had mine not find enough to acquire a location a few times upon start up, but each time if I just waited a little while and moved around a bit, it locked on and I was fine.
  2. I doubt theres a new model, Amazon just made a mistake. I just bought the 60CSx through them and it was the same old one everyone else sells.
  3. Im not sure you can expect much better from ANY consumer sold GPS unit on the market today!
  4. Def go with the 60CSx! It really is the best bang for the buck and a tried an true unit and in all my research it was the only one that could be said about. Thats why I went for it.
  5. All the Garmin handheld GPSr are rated to IPX7 IPX7 - is a European system of test specification standards for classifying the degrees of protection provided by the enclosures of electrical equipment. An IPX7 designation means the GPS case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. During your warranty you can have the unit replaced if it does not perform to this standard. Yea I thought I remembered reading that! So then your pretty safe if you drop it in the water providing that its not too deep and you get it out quickly.
  6. Wouldnt a Ziploc bag be just as good?
  7. Ha! I have a Blackjack II also, Ill have to give this a try!
  8. Good questions, I was wondering some of the same myself!
  9. I cant wait for min to get here! I ordered from amazon for $299 and got the case for another $18 I believe. Should be here Tuesday.
  10. Glad I read this thread! I will be updating mine as soon as it gets here then! If it doesnt already have 3.70 that is.
  11. Umm, what were you expecting? Why did you even bother ordering it? Sounds like you just wasted shipping charges. I know there are reports of a 2.70 version coming on some new units, but don't you think if Garmin has a magic version that fixes everything, they'll release it to the unwashed masses, too? Well actually I didnt find out about the issues with the Vista HCx until after I ordered... On top of that shipping from Amazon is free and they will pay for the return shipping if the item is defective or if you are dissatisfied with the quality of the item. So I lost nothing
  12. What's your privacy worth? Now the sponsors of mygpsdeal.com can pay for the Nuvi that they "gave" you by selling your contact information to a bunch of telemarketers who can now call you without being in violation of the "do not call" legislation. HA HA HA!!! Seriously! Thats what I was thinking!
  13. Yes Im pretty sure it saves the compass calibration after a power off, at least the Vista HCx did. But after a battery change, I too would recalibrate it.
  14. With all the known issues with the Vista HCx I suggest you go with the 76CSx or the 60CSx and never have to deal with any of the problems so many others have wih the Vista HCx.
  15. I would highly suggest going with a unit that offers expandable memory... You never know what kind of a trip you'll be taking and you might fill up that measly 24MB quicker than you think...
  16. After receiving my Vista HCx from amazon yesterday and confirming that it did indeed ship with the problematic 2.60/2.60 firmware/software and after learning of all the people having problems with the rubber banding around the edge coming off inevitably, I decided to just return it (already boxed it up and printed the return shipping label), not waste my time with possibly iffy units and ordered up the 60CSx to go with a tried and true device.
  17. FWIW I just ordered a Vista HCx from Amazon and got it last night, powered it up and it was 2.60/2.60. I took the batteries out, boxed it up, printed the return shipping label and ordered the 60CSx. Done.
