I found that I had a similar problem using the USB connection with my 60CS. I think it was Garmin who suggested using the 4 pin connector for the GPSr and then adding a USB to Serial converter. That has solved my problems and I can upload anything I've needed.

I have a Garmin GPSMap 60CS that I love. I upgraded a year ago from a Garmin Geko 2.0, so this has been an incredible jump up.

I too wonder about this strange reference to viruses. My mom got pneumonia, but my Mac has never seen any trouble.

My two coming to Illinois are still out there. I hope they arrive soon.
They should be there Monday or Tuesday latest. I got them out late Friday, and the Postage Machine estimated two to three days.
I hope they come tomorrow. It's Wednesday and still no sign of the coins. Darn Postal Service.
I am now a week after the mailing date and still no coins. I am very much afraid that they have disappeared.
OK, so what do I do now? I still have no coins and I was really looking forward to receiving them. Do I still hold out hope that they will come in the mail or do I allow my creeping doubt to win?

I have a Palm Tungsten E and I use mobipocket to read my pocket query information. This works great in conjunction with my iMac.

Thanks for your notes, but I have no serial plug at my mac or iBook, only usb and firewire.

I don't have a serial plug on either of my Macs. That is where the Keystone serial to USB converter becomes the solution. Happy caching.

I have had great success using Keyspan's serial to USB converter in conjunction with Garmin's PC/power adapter. The Garmin part turns the four pin connector into a serial connector. I then use Keyspan's converter to change the serial to USB. I have never had any trouble connecting that way. I then manage waypoints with MacGPS Pro. My only complaint has been that Garmin does not make maps that can be used on Macs. I envy the maps available for City Select.

Everything worked fine until Garmin made a USB connector for their GPS's. Now there is no driver for some of these programs to work. I contacted GPS Pro and they told me that without a USB drive their program would not work. I just bought a Legend C
I regretfully have to go to a friends house and use his machine
to load my maps. I will just have to input my geocaches by hand until someone writes a driver for this problem. I have had no problem using the Keyspan serial-to-USB converter with my iMac and iBook. I have to admit that I envy GSAK, but using MacGPS Pro to manage waypoints and Mobipocket to load data into my Palm. All I lacked was the ability to load maps, as far as I could tell. That was a small price to pay to use a better machine.

Although I live well south of Lake Bluff, I believe it is a very nice area. Lake County has a large number of parks, so there should be lots of caches to choose from. GCE6BD- INCIDENT AT ROUNDOUT is west of Lake Bluff itself but could be a good starting point. By the way, the zip code for Lake Bluff is 60044.

I destroyed a brand new cache today

Out caching with Spyderuser in freezing temperatures around Thanksgiving 2004, we managed to accidentally destroy a cache. I very nearly could not hold the camera still enough to capture images of him trying to replace the cache hiding mechanism.
