  1. What software are you using on it? Also not sure what the phone supports but most support java so you MAY be able to use geocaching live (look at live.geocaching.com). If you can get it to work it's definately worth it as it's a great program. You can download caches directly to the program (over WAP). Give it a go
  2. It doesn't add them all to a map easily though []
  3. Like the others i'm a little lost - flickr r showing an "unavailable" picture so that could explain everything maybe. Regarding the title though, it would be useful. Personally I wouldn't run a PQ based on a user's caches but for filtering withing the google maps it would be useful. Just a few hours ago I was looking for a series and tried to filter them through the PQ preview but alas the option wasn't there!
  4. This could be a special version which is served by the same address. It is possible to both define a different layout with css (missing out some elements, using smaller images etc). The second option is to check the user agent of the device accessing and pass that a mobilised version too. As such, there doesn't neccesarily need to be specific address. You can sometimes notice this with a few sites (engadget is one I use reguarly) that it shows you the mobile version but there's a link to something like "full web version". Going to this normally adds "&mobile=false" or something similar to the address.

    i still want it

That was my reason for asking
  6. Did you ever get your PQ today? And when I say "today" I mean PST I got mine about 19:30 GMT - about 10 hours later than I normally get them but tisn't a problem - glad it's back up again
  7. I find it quite useful, if I can't find the cache with the coords I often find the previous logs reveal more about the location etc than the clue's do. For example a clue like "base of tree" in a forest doesn't really help too much, but someone's log describing the tree, or possibly a photo helps confirm you're in the right place - especially on multis

A ) i happen to be catching up in the writing of my logs. do you REALLY have nothing more useful to say, o wise and venerable knower of all things? B ) no, there isn't such a button on the log edit page, which is what i'm talking about. try to keep up. I've reread the entire thread (as I did before I posted a reply to your "request" which you also call a demand - that's why i responded how I did because of the way you approach the "request" - similar to how a three year old would) But all that aside, if you're wanting a new feature I think the first thing you need to do is make sure others understand what you want. I know a few have mentioned they understand but I don't and I imagine there could be a few others, possibly even a few lackeys, who'll be the ones coming up with what you want. Could you write down the work flow of how this feature would fit in. ie You arrive on the first cache's page, add a log, upload photos......and then? How does the first and second logs link together etc
  9. I know now which mistake I made and why I did I did not find the state_id codes in the source I had looked at - I was looking at the wrong file, stupid mistake. I am now able to select all provinces of Austria separately in a direct way. But I still fail in selecting the whole country at once. I tried to add &state_id=-1, but that did not work. Did you succeed in some way? Cezanne I've not had any luck yet, I even tried repeating the steps by submitting everything that would be submitted in a request like the button being clicked etc but it doesn't work. I imagine for this it is checking the viewstate maybe....i'll keep looking but not holding out much hope:(

A ) do you REALLY have nothing better to moan about? B ) There is a View Log button....what's the difference between this and your Visit Log button?
  11. 1) I'll have a play 2) - Steiermark is http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...mp;state_id=263. You need to view source and fill in the relevant country and state ID's
  12. No, if you have the caches you want on the device on screen, then choose the menu GPS>Send Waypoints and then it should send all in that view (you can say don't do child way points) and also you can limit the number to send
  13. Which cache(s) are in the list?
  14. OK, when you download a PQ you get a zip file with two gpx files, one is the cache locations and the other is "child waypoints". These child waypoints can be parking, stages to a multi, trailhead, LOADS of different things. I believe you can run a filter to only show the parking waypoints etc. When you're sending to your vista you can choose it to not send any child way points by unticking use defaults and there's a section about child waypoints. I don't have GSAK on this computer as am at work so if you're still stuck I will post again when I get home
  15. They should move them to the UK then, we're still yet to see this mystical "sun"
  16. I normally receive mine about 9:00-9:30 GMT but not had any today
  17. I haven't use the iPhone app but have used Geocaching Live on Windows Mobile. Personally I use both, premium and live as they both have different strengths. The premium membership allows you to plan your trips with ease, and get all the information you need (through GSAK) exactly how you want it. Me and my brother both got GPS's and a 1 month premium trial each, when we got to the end we were both convinced that premium was definitely worth it and renewed. I can't think of anything worse than downloading LOC files now! Even though I have the premium membership I still use Live sometimes, although this is more for checking logs etc, which I can't get (or don't put) on my etrex venture. The GPS isn't accurate enough on my phone (and friends who use iphone say it isn't accurate enough either) to allow proper geocaching. I visited a cache the other day which was a micro next to a 100 ft long set of railings with a clue "railings". I tried first with my phone and it had me ages away, got out etrex and it had me spot on. I imagine in a forest it would be even worse with the phone. I imagine you're friends will realise this and come back to premium as well I would say that the phone applications supplement, not replace the need for premium membership - hence the price

    site down!?

It's working OK for me now, before though I was getting the Error.aspx page - anything I went to it redirected me to there :S Weird.
  19. That's what I do . Each cycle I delete the records with an older "Last GPx" than it should be

    site down!?

I can't get to any page on Geocaching - I just get redirected to the error page?
  21. I keep a complete database of the UK. The easiest way is to run the PQ by date (ie show all caches between 1/jan 2000 and 1/jan 2002 etc) this results in currently 100 Pq's, and I expect a new pocket query to be required every 3 weeks ish, possibly less during summer due to more people putting caches out. I run the pq's for the whole UK, deleting the ones just run and adding the next 5 so I always have 40 queued up. On top of this to make sure i've got very upto date data I run weekly a nearest 500 PQ's (as these I am most likley to just go out to get rather than planning the trip too much) and a new caches from the past week PQ. It's a bit of a pain but if you keep on top of it it's only a few minutes a day
  22. I use an iPod touch for paperless, although it's more I had a touch and i decided to use it rather than getting it especially for paperless. I don't use the geocaching app because I believe the power behind it is internet connectivity which I won't have most the time. There's a number of apps that let you receive and view files on the touch, so i use GSAK to export cache listings as html and copied those onto the touch for use that way. There's two i've used so far... "FileAid" - this is good because it allows you to copy the files by cable rather than wifi, so only takes a couple of minutes to copy 10000 or so entries - very fast! it takes some time to open and there's no search facility, so you're stuck either browsing the files or using the index pages gsak creates. I also used another program which I can't find now but that only allowed me to copy files over wifi so was slow BUT you could search by filename (which is the GC code) so was great in that respect. It was also quicker at loading. I would say that iTouch is great for paperless, although I also use it a lot for music on the go and in the car, so if I'd got it JUST for paperless I may have been disappointed maybe...

    Cell Phone

I assume the extra cost and logistics for providing this world wide. I imagine there would be some uproar if america got text included but other countries didn't
  24. I guess since there's no need to edit an archived item they've shut it off that way. If you're wanting the contents of the short and long description though you can right click the page and click View Source, scroll down and you'll see what to copy and where
  25. My guess is memory map? Those blue dots look familiar...
