  1. Oh and what do I do about maps...if I have 500 caches listed in my GPS and my Dell axim how do I know how to get to the next one.......I've been printing out directions too and hadn't thought of that......
  2. Ok...I have read and read until my head is killing me.....between GSAK, cachemate, plucker....ect... what do I really need to get my pocket queries into my GPS and PDA (just bought Dell Axim X30..my GPS is an Extrex HC) Will I need all of these programs? Will one of them do everything I need them to do? Thanks for any help!
  3. I pick out caches in the direction I'm going and download them into my GPS. I then print out the cache page along with any hints and directions if I need them. It may get costly for printer ink at some point but eventually I will go paperless with a Palm Pilot. (I'm only able to get a couple here and there so I haven't really seen the need for one yet.) Hope this helps!!!
  4. Replies here are just people's opinions. The only answer that will matter is from your local reviewer. Email him or her with your prospective coordinates, and explain that it's a duel-use park. So how do I find my local reviewer?
  5. Basically I have a question on the guidelines. After reading the guidelines I found that I am unable to place near a school. How far away from the school can you place a cache? The place I have in mind is a public town park which is beside school property. The students during gym class use the playground equipment but this park is fairly large, which includes a walk track at the opposite end of playground equipment. The place I had in mind is about .20 miles away from the playground equipment......what do ya'll think??? Too close? Basically, will i be wasting my time by trying to publish this cache? Thanks!
  6. I hate to say this but it just takes practice! I'm still learning myself but it does seem somewhat easier with each cache i look for. However, i looked for about an hour today for one in the woods, with NO luck! UGH! Good luck!
  7. Is there a link for info on hiding caches?? I'm ready to hide my first but want to make sure I hide it correctly! If it is public property, who do I get permission from or do I have to?? Thanks!
  8. Welcome to the addiction!!! I purchased my Venture HC off of amazon about a month ago for around a 113!!! Good Luck!
  9. I'm glad you asked this because I'm having the same problem! I wish we lived in the same area and we could partner up! Thanks everyone for the ideas!
  10. Well we do have a 3 year old son....and he is 120% boy....someone has to stay home with him! ) I've took him on a few of the easier ones but I couldn't imagine chasing him through the woods..... Even though my hubby "doesn't get it" he would go with me because I wanted him to...but it's just not the same as someone who is just as eager to find the cache...ya know what I mean?
  11. I found this hobby a couple weeks ago and I am now hooked! (along with my 10 year old daughter) My hubby and friends, however, are not so enthused. Do any of you come across these "types" who are like, "What's the point?" I just hate to go trekking through the woods alone but have figured out a nongeocacher is going to ruin all the fun!!! I guess I need to just show up at one of the events and befriend someone who shares my passion in geocaching!!! How do ya'll deal with this???
  12. Hi, I'm new to this too! I just received my GPS today! I ordered it from amazon.com. It is a Garmin eTrex Venture HC and it's on sale for around $113 with free shipping! (It is normally 199!) I'm not sure how this one measures up to the others but we went caching today and it worked great! Good Luck! Brooke aka "The mailgirl"
