  1. No dislike of Micro caches per se and this is certainly NOT an indictment of all micros and their owners... However, they are largely unimaginative and typically placed as a drive-by by the cache owner. I look forward to the hunt, the walks, the excersize, the outdoors. In most cases, I don't get that with micros (unless you consider dodging shopping carts excersize). I see geocaching as an oppotunity to introduced to "off-the-beaten path" attractions/locations that I may have never known existed otherwise. In my mind, a guadrail or lamp post does not qualify as an "attraction." Additionally, I've seen many ocassions where, due to their ease of placement, the owner has countless hides. Not an issue in anmd of itself, however, it is nearly impossible for the cache owner to maintain their extensive inventory. As a result, the caches fall into disrepair or go missing and the owner doens't have the capability to verify field status. The cache's page is never updated to reflect the actual physical status of the cache. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a difficult hunt but is very frustrating to hunt a cache that simply does not exist. My thoughts, though they may not be popular.
  2. Signed log = a find I've had to get creative. On one occasion, I've used a small stick and mud to sign a log. It worked!

  4. wrong! I may be travelling, I may camping, I may busy with the family delaying my post. I still found the cache. Since when did geocaching become a competitive sport? If that's the way you play the game, you can have it! If your "I win, I win, I win" attitude boosts your fragile ego, then have at it. Hmmm... what's next? Full contact geocaching? If it helps, you may have my FTF's. I don't need them. Leave me alone and let me enjoy the outdoors in a relaxing manner!
  5. Wow... you have a distorted view of first to "FIND." Who found it first? end of story... I could care less if the geocacher never logged the find. The website is a tool, the hunt is the game! Frankly, your obsession with a FTF is a bit disturbing. Relax! Enjoy the game...
  6. WOW! There is no limit to the beauty this world possesses. Thanks for sharing. I am humbled... Fndrs-Kprs
  7. Short-Lived Travel Bugs I released a Travel Bug the other day. Several Chachers had visited the cache and posted with no reference or update on my T.B. Curiousity got the best of me so I stopped by to check on its status and found it to be AWOL. A comment from a self-described newbie declaring this their first cache noted that he had retrieved the T.B. His visit has never been logged on the website nor has the TB's travels been updated. Total Miles Accumulated: 0 Any other short lived travel bugs out there? As a side note; this was the first T.B. I've released... Imagine that. Guess I'll have to saddle up and try again. Take care and happy caching! Fndrs-Kprs
  8. Near Moulton and Buckland...
  9. Glynwood, Ohio Wapakoneta mailing address, St. Mary's School System and a Buckland phone... (See "St. Pat's Cache") No one claims us! It's a great area. Fndrs-Kprs
  10. I found a problem with easyGPS and my Gateway computer. My Gateway has a single external serial port. An internal port (COM2) is occupie by a dial up modem. This causes a conflict that can not be rectified, rendering the GPS/PC interface useless...
  11. No... I'm not using any PDA with my computer here at home.
  12. Hey all, I have an etrex Legend and would like to download waypoints (simple request...). the problem is that there seems to be a com port conflict with my computer. I am attempting to us "EasyGPS" and all seems to work well until I send the waypoints to my GPS. At this time I get a "Could not open Serial Port COM2" flag. I have a Gateway and the modem is using COM2 currently. When I try to reassign the COM port through EasyGPS, the field is inacative and won't let me change it to COM1. Help?!? Thanks in advance. 13. I've come across this situation on a few occasions and I'm curious. Upon finding a cache, I've discovered multiple travel bugs (5 in one case). I do not feel right taking all of the bugs. I ussually take one or two, logging just those and leaving the rest for others. My questions are... Do you log those left behind as finds? (afterall, you located them) Do you log only those you take? Should you only take one or take them all? Fndrs-Kprs
  14. I was just there on Monday... But if you need someone to get teh ball rolling, I can swing back by. Fndrs-Kprs
