  1. Some of us geocachers have public jobs and like to keep our private lives private. That is why we use screen names and not our real ones. I like to take photos and post them, just not of my face. I am glad of the new change. It gives me new freedom to explore more EarthCaches.

  2. Tell this to the owner of GC14TVP and the local reviewer that stood behind the CO that deleted my log today because you can not see my face in the photo that I posted. The CO went as far as to reword the logging requirements today to futher violate the new rule and sent me a rude email telling me to read the rules on EC's. I did appeal it.

  3. I just had a log deleted today on GC14TVP because you can not see my face in the photo. According to the new EarthCache guidelines as of 01/11/10 in rule number 6, it clearly states that requiring a cache visitor to post a picture of their face is considered an ALR and should be optional, and that CO's can not delete posts because of ALR. But the local reviewer went along with the CO. I have sent the reviewer some info that may be helpful and appealed their decision. Would anyone like to comment? I would like your input. The new guideline seems very clear to me. I found it while getting ready to submit my first EC.

  4. I found a cache that had a dog theme, there was a toy dog house inside of a HUGE ammo can that vibrated and made a barking noise. It was in a big pile of rocks under an over hang. Another cacher found it later and thought it was a rattlesnake making the noise. I have a cache that is in an old out house, I started to put a motion activated halloween skeleton inside sitting over the port hole, but I was afraid someone may have a heart attack. I don't think that booby-trapping a cache is a good idea. I did set up a wildgame trail camera near a cache once because it was getting muggled. I caught the person that was doing it too. So if you are reading this post ,and you know who you are, I know who you are also. Did'nt know that you got caught did ya'?

  6. Name of coin: 7 coins in total - all Quilt Coins: Nolichuckey Bend, Chery Hill Farm, Masters Farm, Bailey Farm, Woodgifts Farm, Appalachian Fair, Allandale.

    Name of Vendor: TNT Geocons

    Date Ordered: 01/16/2009

Shipment Due Date: originally Feb 09, then March

    Ordered by: J 'N' K - "Not yet received"

Last email received 03/14/2009 entitled "DELAYS AND CATCHING UP" said " To those who have ordered the new quilts, I have them back going and should be

here soon. Again, sorry for delays I am several weeks behind on things."

I have sent several emails since then, but have had no reply.

I have receiced coins from them before with no hassles. I have a phone no. for them, but live in New Zealand and don't really want to add to my loss at this stage ($81.44). Anyone living in Tennessee keen to ring on my behalf?

I WILL CALL...WHAT IS THEIR NUMBER?

    TnT Geocoins

    304 Piney Ave

    Piney Flats, Tn. 37686

    423-737-6351

Good luck, seems that the BBB here in North East Tennessee can't even reach them.

Looks like I'm the only one that has a complaint filed against them.

I have called Tracy SEVERAL times (10+ actually) and left a message every time...no response

I am calling BBB tomorrow 1/20/10

    :):o:(:D:angry:

I hate to tell you this, but the BBB can not get any response from TnT geocoins either. I already tryed that and my case with the BBB has been closed. Try filing a complaint with the IC3 Internet Crime Complaint Center as I have. I am also speaking with an attorney, as many of us that have been victimized by the company we can possibly file a class action law suit against them. As the link that was used to place the orders from TnT Geocoins was through www.quilttrail.org which is part of the Appalachain RC&D Council, it makes them somewhat partners. Seems that Tracy can still sell on eBay(tnt_enterainment), and contact anyone but her customers. She should at least post something to let us know what her plans are, not just rip-off & run.

I may be wrong on the identity, but it looks like they are still around trying to do business elsewhere. But their feedback looks just as questionable there as it does here. Link

Yes, this is the same person. They also have an active account on pathtags.com Always the same sad story, no matter where they post. Just like the Nigerian scammers wanting people to feel sorry for them. Then they rip you off and end contact.

  7. I'm not sure if it is possible. I have a sock puppet account that I adopt all my missing coin to so that way they are not in my profile list. That's at least one thing you can do.

I thought that sock puppet accounts were against Groundspeak policy? That would be cool to have one, that way I could post "needs archived" on some caches, or post things that CO's would not like and not have to worry about poor sports muggling my caches. I dropped one of my missing geocoins in a missing cache (GC9718), SOME locals do not want the cache archived because it is old, but they are not willing to maintain it. Why not use it as a grave yard for missing geocoins?

  8. Wow! That is a really cool coin. I had never seen one until last week on eBay. There was also a Cache Reaper coin too. I normally just collect geocoins with tracking numbers, but that Bell Witch coin is cool. I had to do some research on her, sounds like she did not like "Old Jack Bell" at all! I would like to read the book about her. :(

  10. When I found the link to TnT Geocoins @ www.quilttrail.org and saw that it was connected to a local organization (Appalachain RC&D Council), I thought it was great and placed an order. Now after 11 months has gone by with no contact from the vendor, and all the bad posts about TnT Geocoins that has flooded the forums, I don't think that I will ever recieve my order, or a refund. This all sounds like one of those 419 things from Nigeria to me. I contacted the BBB, they could not get a response from the company. Then I contacted the IC3 Internet Crime Complaint Center and filed a complaint. I still had some of the TnT geocoins that were unactivated that I planned to resale that I had bought from another collector, then their web site disappeared last December. I did not know how to activate them, so I posted a thread last week. A user GeocoinGuy posted that he had spoke with Tracy of TnT Geocoins on 01/16/10 and was going host TnT's activation codes on his site, GeocoinDesign.com

Maybe this means that we are all going to get our orders? I don't know about the rest of you, but I am going to go stand by my mail box and wait on them so that the flying monkeys do not steal them when they arrive!

I have some TnT geocoins that I have bought from other collectors that are unactivated, with TnT's web site being gone now I did not know how to activate them, so I opened another thread in the geocoin discussion forum. A user GeocoinGuy posted that they had spoke with Tracy of TnT Geocoins on 01/16/10 and had agreed to host TnT Geocoins activation codes on their site at GeocoinDesign.com

I have no idea what TnT's plans are, and don't know anything about GeocoinDesign.com other than what I found in THIS thread and on the rate the vendors site on Geocoin.net

Check this out for yourself, I found it quite interesting.

  12. FYI - I will be hosting ALL ACTIVATION CODES for TnT Geocoins shortly.

I spoke to Tracy today and I have agreed to host their codes at GeocoinDesign.com

It is not my business to get into hers, so I am not going to get into the middle of any arguements concerning her business.

I will post when codes are up.

This is good to hear, I was at a loss with Tracy not responding to any of my emails and the web site disappearing. At least I know that she is still around. Maybe I will recieve my order that I PAID FOR from the presale last Febuary, and now I know that the geocoins can be activated, if I ever see the ones that I PAID FOR last Febuary.

  13. I have some geocoins that are not activated that are from TnT Geocoins. Some have been purchaced from sellers on eBay. I have tryed to contact TnT Geocoins to receive the activation codes, but their web site is no longer available, I think they may be out of business. Is there any way to activate these geocoins, if so, will the icon be the same as the other Follow the Quilt Trail geocoins?

  14. A homeless persons camp with trip-wires around it. I thought it was a meth lab at first. Just me and my dog, in the woods. When he barked at a tarp flapping in the wind as I was watching my step back tracking myself... I had a flash back.

  15. Hi all,

AFAIK one gets nominated to become a reviewer.

What can I do to get nominated  ? I really want to get some responsibility...

    Regards,

    SH

It's like becoming a Free Mason, you don't ask to become one, they ask you, then it's all done in secret.

    "In search of more light"

    From Virginia. ;)

Not to stray too far from the topic but that post needs answering.

Freemasons (not Free Mason) cannot ask or invite... in fact our motto, widely publicized for hundreds of years and one of the first lessons a Freemason learns, is "2B1ASK1" meaning "To be one ask one".

Every Freemason stands ready to help any interested applicant petition the Blue Lodge whenever asked, but we won't ask you.

No, I mean Free Mason, not Freemason. We have a secret handshake that we use when we pass a Mason jar of moonshine. "In search of more light" means that we are making a beer run. But I'm sure that you Freemasons would not know that, because it's secret. You have 2BA Hillbilly 2B1.
