  1. I made one similar by attaching a water proof match box to an old golf ball with a screw. It is hidden on a golf course. I made another with a softball that is hidden in a ball park. Just don't hide them in an easy place to find.
  2. It would be nice if Tracy of TnT would do something like Jake has. Seems that TnT geocoins presale was a total criminal act of internet fraud as she has shut down their website and disappeared after taking money for the orders that were created.
  3. I found a cache that had a dog theme, there was a toy dog house inside of a HUGE ammo can that vibrated and made a barking noise. It was in a big pile of rocks under an over hang. Another cacher found it later and thought it was a rattlesnake making the noise. I have a cache that is in an old out house, I started to put a motion activated halloween skeleton inside sitting over the port hole, but I was afraid someone may have a heart attack. I don't think that booby-trapping a cache is a good idea. I did set up a wildgame trail camera near a cache once because it was getting muggled. I caught the person that was doing it too. So if you are reading this post ,and you know who you are, I know who you are also. Did'nt know that you got caught did ya'?

  5. I WILL CALL...WHAT IS THEIR NUMBER? TnT Geocoins 304 Piney Ave Piney Flats, Tn. 37686 423-737-6351 Good luck, seems that the BBB here in North East Tennessee can't even reach them. Looks like I'm the only one that has a complaint filed against them. I have called Tracy SEVERAL times (10+ actually) and left a message every time...no response I am calling BBB tomorrow 1/20/10 I hate to tell you this, but the BBB can not get any response from TnT geocoins either. I already tryed that and my case with the BBB has been closed. Try filing a complaint with the IC3 Internet Crime Complaint Center as I have. I am also speaking with an attorney, as many of us that have been victimized by the company we can possibly file a class action law suit against them. As the link that was used to place the orders from TnT Geocoins was through www.quilttrail.org which is part of the Appalachain RC&D Council, it makes them somewhat partners. Seems that Tracy can still sell on eBay(tnt_enterainment), and contact anyone but her customers. She should at least post something to let us know what her plans are, not just rip-off & run. I may be wrong on the identity, but it looks like they are still around trying to do business elsewhere. But their feedback looks just as questionable there as it does here. Link Yes, this is the same person. They also have an active account on pathtags.com Always the same sad story, no matter where they post. Just like the Nigerian scammers wanting people to feel sorry for them. Then they rip you off and end contact.
  6. I got mine today, I am very pleased with them.
  7. We make several trips a year to QIB in Cherokee, Nc. I had to have these geocoins when I saw them for sale. They are real nice. I am very proud of my Native heritage.
  8. I thought that sock puppet accounts were against Groundspeak policy? That would be cool to have one, that way I could post "needs archived" on some caches, or post things that CO's would not like and not have to worry about poor sports muggling my caches. I dropped one of my missing geocoins in a missing cache (GC9718), SOME locals do not want the cache archived because it is old, but they are not willing to maintain it. Why not use it as a grave yard for missing geocoins?
  9. Wow! That is a really cool coin. I had never seen one until last week on eBay. There was also a Cache Reaper coin too. I normally just collect geocoins with tracking numbers, but that Bell Witch coin is cool. I had to do some research on her, sounds like she did not like "Old Jack Bell" at all! I would like to read the book about her.

  11. When I found the link to TnT Geocoins @ www.quilttrail.org and saw that it was connected to a local organization (Appalachain RC&D Council), I thought it was great and placed an order. Now after 11 months has gone by with no contact from the vendor, and all the bad posts about TnT Geocoins that has flooded the forums, I don't think that I will ever recieve my order, or a refund. This all sounds like one of those 419 things from Nigeria to me. I contacted the BBB, they could not get a response from the company. Then I contacted the IC3 Internet Crime Complaint Center and filed a complaint. I still had some of the TnT geocoins that were unactivated that I planned to resale that I had bought from another collector, then their web site disappeared last December. I did not know how to activate them, so I posted a thread last week. A user GeocoinGuy posted that he had spoke with Tracy of TnT Geocoins on 01/16/10 and was going host TnT's activation codes on his site, GeocoinDesign.com Maybe this means that we are all going to get our orders? I don't know about the rest of you, but I am going to go stand by my mail box and wait on them so that the flying monkeys do not steal them when they arrive!
  12. I did not have any luck with the BBB, so I filed a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). Any help from anyone that feels that they have been a victim also will be appreciated. Just send me a PM with a name and contact, or may I suggest that you file a complaint also. Thank you. correction and addition: 8) J 'N' K order: Name of coin: 7 coins in total - all Quilt Coins: Nolichuckey Bend, Chery Hill Farm, Masters Farm, Bailey Farm, Woodgifts Farm, Appalachian Fair, Allandale. Name of Vendor: TNT Geocons Date Ordered: 01/16/2009 Shipment Due Date: originally Feb 09, then March Ordered by: J 'N' K - "Not yet received" 10) Pastor_B ordered and paid for three coins: Cherry Hill Farm Quilt Trail coin; Nolichucky Bend Quilt Trail coin; Master's Farm Quilt Trail coin (all XLE coins) – ordered/paid 2/27/09 I (Pastor_ have sent numerous emails and have called Tracy 10+ times --- no response I have some TnT geocoins that I have bought from other collectors that are unactivated, with TnT's web site being gone now I did not know how to activate them, so I opened another thread in the geocoin discussion forum. A user GeocoinGuy posted that they had spoke with Tracy of TnT Geocoins on 01/16/10 and had agreed to host TnT Geocoins activation codes on their site at GeocoinDesign.com I have no idea what TnT's plans are, and don't know anything about GeocoinDesign.com other than what I found in THIS thread and on the rate the vendors site on Geocoin.net Check this out for yourself, I found it quite interesting.
  13. This is good to hear, I was at a loss with Tracy not responding to any of my emails and the web site disappearing. At least I know that she is still around. Maybe I will recieve my order that I PAID FOR from the presale last Febuary, and now I know that the geocoins can be activated, if I ever see the ones that I PAID FOR last Febuary.
  14. I have some geocoins that are not activated that are from TnT Geocoins. Some have been purchaced from sellers on eBay. I have tryed to contact TnT Geocoins to receive the activation codes, but their web site is no longer available, I think they may be out of business. Is there any way to activate these geocoins, if so, will the icon be the same as the other Follow the Quilt Trail geocoins?
  15. A homeless persons camp with trip-wires around it. I thought it was a meth lab at first. Just me and my dog, in the woods. When he barked at a tarp flapping in the wind as I was watching my step back tracking myself... I had a flash back.
  16. It's like becoming a Free Mason, you don't ask to become one, they ask you, then it's all done in secret. "In search of more light" From Virginia. Not to stray too far from the topic but that post needs answering. Freemasons (not Free Mason) cannot ask or invite... in fact our motto, widely publicized for hundreds of years and one of the first lessons a Freemason learns, is "2B1ASK1" meaning "To be one ask one". Every Freemason stands ready to help any interested applicant petition the Blue Lodge whenever asked, but we won't ask you. No, I mean Free Mason, not Freemason. We have a secret handshake that we use when we pass a Mason jar of moonshine. "In search of more light" means that we are making a beer run. But I'm sure that you Freemasons would not know that, because it's secret. You have 2BA Hillbilly 2B1.

  18. I really do it just to support the site. I am more into placing caches than seeking them. Some caches that I place I make them PMO to keep the traffic down, some are 5/5's that are not for everyone. PMO's seem to get muggled less, weeds out some of the geocoin snatching newbies.
  19. I have a Dachsund that can find ammo cans. He is used to hunting and firearms, so I'm quite sure it is the ammo that was in the can before that he is smelling. He likes to sign the log by wizzing on the can.
  20. Keystone can correct me if I have misunderstood the situation. In plain language, it appears Keystone had someone attempting to submit a cache that violated the ALR portion of the guidelines. That cacher then sited a few existing caches as evidence that his cache should be allowed. Keystone checked the caches mentioned. This cache was found to be in violation of the ALR portion of the guideline. Keystone posted a note on the cache concerning the issue. The owner posted a note, but did not change the listing. The local reviewer then disabled the cache listing until the change was made. The cache owner then made the change by adding a few words in red letters. That's the way I read the situation. It seems to me that Keystone alerted the CO as he should have and then allowed the local reviewer to take over from there. It also seems to me that Keystone did not single this cacher out. Quite to the contrary, it appears to me that another cacher pointed the CO's cache out to Keystone. I do not see Keystone on a witch hunt to ruin the CO's fun. I see the CO ruining his own cache by made a big stink instead of just making a minor change and bringing his cache into compliance. O.K. That's another thing that I did not understand, that the moderator is also a reviewer. That's what I was missing, thanks.
  21. O.K. I have a better understanding of it now. I think that I just saw the corrected verision of their cache. Is there such a thing as a challange cache that promises a reward of a special path tag after finding and logging say 15 of 20 cache placements, but there are never the required number of caches placed, so no one gets the said prize, would this type cache be considered an ALR cache? The reason that I ask this is because I am currantly involved in two caches of this type in my area now. Thanks.
  22. Konnarock Kid & Marge have some of the best earthcaches in my area, I enjoy all of their caches, the one in question is really funny. If I am reading this thread correctly I do not understand what a moderator for a Groundspeak Forum in Pa. has to do with any of this unless it is somehow a personal issue. We have great local reviewers that do a wonderful job and are very helpful to me if I ever have a question. I'm at a loss of understanding....? Anyone out there that does not have a very extended elaborate vocabulary that I can understand in plain "Virginia country boy" english care to try and explain this one to me?
  23. I have caches hidden. I would not for one moment consider avoiding the proper use of a tool because it might make some nutjob mad and he'll go after my caches. I'm fairly good at irritating folks, though never by design or intent. I wouldn't dream of going around on tiptoes scared something I do or say might upset a whacko. Live scared like that and you make yourself hostage to the imagined whim of a minute lunatic fringe. Call yourself lucky. Its not about being scared, it's about doing what is the least problematic, like contacting the reviewer directly instead. Exactly. You would think that geocachers with 5000+ finds that host events would be more civil when it comes to understanding and playing by the rules, other than make-up their own.
  24. I posted a needs maintance about a month ago on cache GC9718 which is missing and got some PM's from some locals telling me to leave things be that they wanted the cache to stay because of it's age, being one of the oldest in the area. The CO is no longer a registered user and does not geocache anymore. One of the local cachers has reaveraged the coordinates and replaced the old cache container over six months ago and has offered to maintain it. It is in a good location and others are interested in placing a cache near the site. I don't want to post a needs archived because I have already upset some users with the needs maintaince log, which another user posted a needs maintance log a long time ago, seems they had the same thing happen to them with the locals. Is there any way to adopt a cache like this one and leave the pictures and posts so that no one gets upset?
