  1. Virginia State Parks have started placing a Wildlife Adventure series of caches in their State Parks, they also welcome others to place "approved" caches at no cost (they even supply the VSP approved stickers) in their parks with proper permission. Of course they also rent GPS units to persons that might want to try geocaching while at the Parks. I am really glad that my home State is geocache friendly, unlike some other States.
  2. I spoke with Roy Settle of Appalachian RC&D he advises all of us contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Pretty simple process http://knoxville.bbb.org/consumers RC&D has parted ways with TnT also we should contact the internet fraud website: http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx More information: TNT Geocoins 304 Piney Ave Piney Flats, TN 37686 Tracy & Tank 423-737-6351 Been there and done that already. BBB says they can't help, no word from IC3. Tracy still operates a sales booth at the Bluff City, Tn. flea market. The RC&D really got a bad name because of her and the rip-off presale scam. I'm not sure that the address is correct, seems that no one can reach her except Roy Settle, and he has not been any help. I will presue legal actions, but it's hard to get someone in front of a judge without the correct contact information. People like her that take money from people then try to use a family hardship as an excuse make me sick. She is no different than any other "please feel sorry for me" scammer, except she is in Tennessee and not Nigeria. She has never offered to refund our money or tryed to contact us, just took our money like a thief and dissappeared. Anyone defrauded by her does need to contact the BBB and IC3. It may not help us, but scammers don't give up, and neither do I.
  3. Thanks for the info, I submitted this one on the Waymarking site also. I just thought that there may be some other way. Seems that Waymarking is just not as popular as Benchmark hunting.
  4. That's what I did with an old 1944 TVA benchmark, and may be getting ready to do the same with a 1934 USGS disk. I opened a thread in this forum about what should I do in cases like these.
  5. I found another benchmark (this being my third) that is not listed. The two others that I found were a 1944 TVA and an old TDOT brass disk, but this one is a 1934 U.S. Geological Survey marker. I would log it as a find. What should I do?
  6. The same needs to be done with TnT Geocoins, their link was through the Appalachain RC&D web site. I thought that the RC&D was a reputable orginazition? Watch who you send money to through the internet. Any advise/input?
  7. I do not have a problem posting a photo of me at an EarthCache to prove that I was there. I just have a privacy issue with posting my face on the internet. I won't use Facebook, MySpace, ect. Other members of our team don't feel the same way as I do. We use one account as a family. Behind the camera of Manville p h
  8. I am sorry, but this is simply not true. When I appealed to Groundspeak, Sandy Barker replied to me the she was sorry, but I would not be able to log the cache as a find because I had not met the logging requirements. I did not answer the questions correctly. I resubmitted a different picture and answers to the CO which were much closer to what he was asking. The CO let my post stand, he was not forced by Groundspeak to do so, as you can read in the other thread. The cache was retracted and then republished by Geoaware because the CO had posted that a persons face must be clearly seen in the pictire, or the logs would be deleted. I just think that the CO was unaware of the new changes about the photo option, and he and I both lost our tempers trying to prove who was right. He was NOT forced by Groundspeak to let my post stand. It was worked out between us, by me providing a better photo and closer answers to the required questions. This is the first cache that I personally have logged, normally my husband and the kids do all the geocaching, I just go along for the ride. I was at the Park for training and my husband asked me to take a photo of the EarthCache to log on our account. I am camera shy and just don't want my face in a photo on the internet. Please see post #145 in the Photos required for logging EarthCaches thread. This should clear things up that the CO was not forced by Groundspeak to accept my find to his EarthCache.

  11. Some of us geocachers have public jobs and like to keep our private lives private. That is why we use screen names and not our real ones. I like to take photos and post them, just not of my face. I am glad of the new change. It gives me new freedom to explore more EarthCaches.
  12. Sorry, make that GC14TVP. Fall Creek Falls EarthCache. I sometimes see numbers and letters backwards.
  13. Tell this to the owner of GC14TVP and the local reviewer that stood behind the CO that deleted my log today because you can not see my face in the photo that I posted. The CO went as far as to reword the logging requirements today to futher violate the new rule and sent me a rude email telling me to read the rules on EC's. I did appeal it.
  14. I just had a log deleted today on GC14TVP because you can not see my face in the photo. According to the new EarthCache guidelines as of 01/11/10 in rule number 6, it clearly states that requiring a cache visitor to post a picture of their face is considered an ALR and should be optional, and that CO's can not delete posts because of ALR. But the local reviewer went along with the CO. I have sent the reviewer some info that may be helpful and appealed their decision. Would anyone like to comment? I would like your input. The new guideline seems very clear to me. I found it while getting ready to submit my first EC.
  15. I prefer Sumo over the Gorilla. It expands less.
