Thanks everyone. We had sooo much fun. My 4 year old loved going "hunting for treasures", it was GREAT! It was a learning experience, and we all kept that in mind. We laughed at walking with the GPS and going this way, no that way, no this way, no that way. We could only imagine what the people thought who saw us. We were lucky and found all but one that we were looking for. I think we ended up finding a total of 6 out of 7.
I was amazed at how many caches are in that area. We were able to walk to two of them, which was really neat.
Chuy, that night cache sounds Awesome. The trip looks like an event not to be missed. I will come and say hi in the San Diego threads, and hopefully we can make it to the next event!
NYPaddleCacher, thanks for the advice, I am not sure how to list where I am going by waypoint ID, but I will figure it out by the next time.
Ladyleo191, very good advice. I totally thought the GPS would take me to the exact area. It was basically close, and once we realized it was not exact, we stopped being worried about it and had fun looking around the area. After the first couple we felt more confident and relaxed. I also printed the simple format of the pages and that helped a bunch.
Wild Thing 73, I grew up camping in Ocotillo Wells (70s-80s) and loved that area. I told my Mom to move there when they moved away from the city (San Diego) but they moved to Salton City.
All in all it was a wonderful trip and fun for everyone. We will be camping again at Christmas (not sure where) and will be out caching again, we are all looking forward to it.
Until next time,
Debra
