I have now had a magellan colour, magellan meridian and explorist 600....and recently purchased a garmin 60Csx unit and appropriate mapping software for Australia. Trust me..although people say a personal choice etc...i have found the garmin unit much more robust, many more maps available, and tons more features in the standard software....... I should have bought this unit in the first place..... Your choice..most folks stick with a brand..i have used both..and i must say from my early Wow factor with the Garmin compared with top of the range Magellan unit...i would go garmin. I am sure many mfolks would disagree, however i have an explorist 600 sitting next to me that now refuses to turn on.... cheers, Derek

Unfortunately, i have managed to place some scratches on my explorist screen and was wondering if anyone can give some advice on liquids or techniques to remove them. Thanks for your help, Derek

Just wondering if the LIon batteries as used in the explorist 600, are similar to any digital camera batteries on the market?? Anyone found one yet?? Cheers, Derek

if there was one screen that would be really good it is the screen on the meriplat that has the moving compass at the bottom. This screen i have personally found very helpful, due to the fact that all of the information fields are fully able to be customised for personal use. Derek

Having just purchased an explorist 600 and being used to all the screens available on the Meriplat, compared to the 4 on the explorist..one of which is the satellite screen...i hope there may be plans in the firmware upgrades to provide the additional screens..this would make the unit a superb bit of gear. Love to hear from magellan on this one. Dernel

Having seen a Explorist 200 recently, the shop assistant put 2 x standard AA cells into the unit. Based on the case molding being the same..i would assume the 600 unit will be the same. Cheers, Dernel
