  1. This is my unregistered upgrade pack 7 disk set of Tomtom navigator 5 GB and Western Europe( no longer available as a subsidised upgrade from Tomtom ) They will work as an upgrade from an earlier version or can be used for a clean new install .These are the genuine thing and would welcome anyone who bought to do the instalation at my home near Usk to prove the fact, but I will mail them if required .I am looking for nearest ofers to £100 ...PM or mail me for my phone number to discuss dealoftheday2000-enquiries@yahoo.co.uk Dave
  2. Around £150 including 2 unlock codes was mentioned. Dave
  3. For all those waiting for Uk topo maps : I was a the Pocket gps world meet at Basinstoke yesterday ( great event) and Garmin had them loaded into a 60cs they looked pretty good (also the roads are routable on compatable units but the whole of the Uk take up around 1.5 gbs so not too much can be on your system at any one time .They are due to be released mid the late Jan next year. Dave
  4. Comet and Staples had them on Sunday also @£179 Dave
  5. Have you checked out the "TomTom One - MP3 and in-car navigation system" ?Its coming out next month @ around £270 I think... http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?...9736&highlight= what ever you get,if your going to keep it in the glove box make sure you stow the mount out of site as well..Gps theft from cars is on the up!! http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?...9561&highlight= Dave
  6. This thread gives a bit more info on City Select: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=110636 BTW you can't get Os maps that will work on Garmin Gps Dave
  7. Yes the backlight is a pretty handy torch!! Dave
  8. On the 60 series of gps the ones with "map" in the title should auto route with the base map and "city select", the GPS60 won't. I have been looking to pick up City Select and have seen a few on ebay but been to cautious to risk there being one unlock code left and anyway they seem to make strong money The cheapest I have found a new version with the car kit for my GPSMap 60c is Aspid shop at £150 so I am in the queue for a second hand one with a life left!! Dave
  9. Also make sure your not buying an "update" version, as you still require an original "full" version already installed on your pc to be able to use it! Dave
  10. Try this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-A-to-MINI-B-LEAD...1QQcmdZViewItem Dave
  11. As far as I can gather : "type A "is the male end that fits into the PC.."Type B" is the size that plugs into the larger USB devices.. "mini B" is the one that fits the 60c and digital cameras ..and then there is an even smaller one which may be called a "micro B" type that fits the key ring type digital cameras So the one you require would be : USB A to Mini B USB cable ..stanard usb cables do not have a choke fitted though ( maybe thats why the Garmin ones are expensive)..having said that ..Maplins are the same price and no choke http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...rldID=&doy=6m10 Dave
  12. The yellow has serial output ..I use mine as a gps mouse connected to my pda The colour version of the Etrex has no serial output!! Dave
  13. Quote: "it is similar to tom tom, and can do the 3d view. the bonus of city select it is the whole of europe, not just uk like tom tom (unless you get the tom tom 700)" ...Or an upgrade to TTN5 which comes on 6 CD's Dave
  14. Or even the BT338 ! .I went to the pocket gps world meet last week and and the folks who had them said they were the "dogs nuts" Dave
  15. Yep ! thats the latest one ,Oct 2003 .So thats my theory out of the window then. Dave
  16. I'm probably wrong but I was under the impression that 'battery save mode' just restricted the GPR reception to satellites that were 'high in the sky' not stop ALL satellite reception. If I need to have my Legend on indoors I can select the 'Use with GPS off' option. I thought that in BS mode the gps received signals some thing like every 4 seconds instead of every 1 second in normal mode but still had access to all visible sats and as you say you can turn the gps off indoors Dave
  17. I took the statement to mean : If you are not in normal mode useing a Garmin gps you are unlikely to get any waas correction,or am I reading it wrong ?? Dave
  18. Just in case those with Garmin units having difficulty in in getting the D's and have not read this taken from the Gps information site : "Be sure that your GPS is set to normal mode (not battery save) for this procedure. The nature of WAAS corrections precludes its use in Garmin battery save mode ". Dave
  19. I've had my yellow for only a month or so and was disapointed with its performance in our over grown lanes so I bought a gpsmap 60c. I am even more mift now as I took both units out this evening and ran them side by side! The 60c beeped and displayed that it had lost contact with the sats and the yellow still had a good lock on 4 of them .What is going on?? Dave
  20. If this is the case I find it strange that more and more WAAS enabled units are being produced, even the entry level etrex has it from version 3.0. Dave
  21. Even though I have the D's displayed on the other sat bars the WAAS sats never turn from grey to solid black ,does that mean they have not achieved a proper lock ?? Dave
  22. I live near Usk in Monmouthshire and on my 60c (only had it 2 days) seem to get Waas after late afternoon and for the last 2 nights it's been showing accuracy down to 6 feet although I did diasable Waas and it still showed 6 feet! .I think tonight I will run my yellow along side the 60c and get a comparison between the two Dave
  23. Try this Their tech support is very good Dave
