don't expect it to be as good as a sirfIII. It will get you to within 10-20 meters. Useless under tree's. Use a iphone in conjunction with your garmin.

I have a Garmin Etrex Venture HC, Using Mapsource 6.15.6. I cannot save just 1 single track file out of the unit. The closes I can come to is to make a new document in mapsource, select transfer-receive from device but it pulls all the tracks on the GPS.. Note: When the unit is plugged in it does not show up as a drive. Is there any way to save just a single track ?

Garmin Venture HC works just fine with NIMH batteries (selected in the menu). Try restoring factory defaults and / or reload firmware. Corruption in your POI / Waypoints the most likely cause.

It's not up to anyone but the TB owner to decide if their Travel Bug needs "retiring". Looks like the owner of these is also a cacher and the logs are all pretty much normal everyday travel bug logs. Depends what your meaning of "retire" is. I read it the less literal why and understand the post. Replace "retire" with "checking out and not checking in again" and you get the idea.

I find it interesting to read one thread about people not pickup up travel bugs and then in another thread a member complaining about someone not checking the wishes of TB before moving it along (moving in the wrong direction in the process). People can have it both ways. Just be happy it has not been muggled.

Is it OK to log a "drop coin at" then a "picked coin up at" at the same time ? so the coin is not left at the cache, just a quick visit.

Sounds like you entered the co-ordinates wrong. The Nokia 610 should get you to within 5 meters of it.
