  1. I completed the AGT challenge. I know of the all counties and Delorme ones also. Can you please tell me where to find others?
  2. Can you plz explain how I get caches on Google map for offline use?
  3. I like the geocaching.com app. Is there a way to populate the caches on a Google map for use offline without buying an additional app? I would prefer to be able to use just the Geocaching.com app. Thank you
  4. I haven't cached in a few years and really miss it. I have since upgraded to a Droid RAZR M. I was do excited to see that there is a Geocaching app for my phone. It even allows me to save caches to an offline file. This is awesome because I am used to caching with Garman vista hcx, a palm pilot, lots of print offs, etc. My phone can now do everything in a dead zone, except for show the caches on a map. I live and cache mostly in a dead zone. Can anyone recommend an app that will show caches on a map. Also any other recommendations for caching with phone are appreciated. Thank you
  5. I am interested in putting some more caches out there for people to discover. How do you know where you can place a cache without having to ask permission? It looks like State Game Lands are the best option. But how do you know you are for sure on SGL's? I went to the Game Commission website and viewed maps around me. It looks like areas in green are SGL's? Are those places I can put a cache? Are there markings that say it is game commission land? I have seen trees with white paint on them. Sometime those are on SGL and sometimes I think they are on State Forest Land. I would really appreciate some help on this. Pennsylvania is beautiful and I would like to bring people to areas I enjoy.
  6. I accidentally said that I dropped one of my own geocoins somewhere, when in fact I had dropped off a TB I had found. The names were similar. Is there any way to erase the info from my own coin. I don't want people thinking it is there and going out of their way for it. Plus I bought this one just to have it, not to drop it off.
  7. Thanks for the info. I guess it is back to a PC for me.
  8. I recently bought an ipod nano, because I got a mac hand-me-down for Christmas, and wanted an mp3 player. I had been using cachemate and GSAK with my GPS and palm on my PC (which died). I can't keep the palm battery from dying, so I was going to buy MacCaching software and use my mac with my ipod and GPS. Now I think I am going to go back to using a PC, found a really awesome deal on a laptop for $400 at Staples. Can I use GSAK with my Ipod? Or should I just stick with the mac and use my ipod?
  9. my closest unfound cache is .5 miles....BUT I would have to drive approximately 20 miles to get to it. There is no shorter way. And that is mostly on dirt roads with no maintenance.
  10. ok I figured out how to use the word art to get the text to circle around, but how can I get the top of the circle to say one thing and the bottom to say another? All being right side up. I tried the two half circles but that didn't work. Like I want my user name on the top half and my town on the bottom half.
  11. I bought round labels to put on poker chips to leave as a sig item. I am primarily using a mac, but can hook up my PC to my printer. Does anyone know how to make text wrap around in a circle using word or neooffice? The template on the website I got the labels from is of squares. I am really lost. This shouldn't be so difficult. I would really appreciate help.
  12. I thought it was strange to get two of them. I guess one is a back up in case the other one wears off or you get another vehicle. That makes me think. I drive a wrangler topless may-sept...maybe I should put the decal on the jeep itself, rather than the roof.
  13. I just ordered a bug decal. Two decals and two tags came in the envelope all with the same code. What am I supposed to do with the second decal? put it on another vehicle? That seems odd.
  14. I am looking for firefighter coins. If you have any you are willing to sell, please email me.
  15. MacCaching will do this. macaching.com I found out that I do not have the virtual PC program on my comp. he put it on my mom's. I will check out maccaching thanks.
  16. that is a good idea too. I was also checking out bottle caps. I have found waterproof labels for $1 a sheet, plus $5 for shipping (62 labels per sheet) This seems like a good solution for designing poker chips. That would be around $60 for 500 chips. Then I don't have to put all 3 of our names on one, we can each have our own ones, and with different designs (3 of us cache together). What kind of sticker do you put on your guitar picks?
  17. Where does everyone buy their wooden nickels or poker chips? Or even the labels to put on chips or nickels? It looks like poker chips wouldn't be too expensive if you put the labels on yourself. I am interested in buying 500 or 1000. Plenty to trade and leave behind.
  18. These are prices I am coming up with right now (I think), still looking pathtags $2 each (or less if you buy more than 50) wooden nickels about 10 cents each for 1000 (then you can leave them everywhere big enough) poker chips if you have them made about 75 cents each poker chips if you buy them and get labels made about 25 cents each I am still looking though. Not sure if I want poker chips or nickels.
  19. I have been looking at wooden nickels and poker chips to get personalized. These are the items I like to find the most in a cache, so that is what I would like to leave behind. It would be nice to be able to leave something small behind, even if nothing is worth taking. If you have personalized wooden nickels or poker chips, can you please let me know where you got them or where you got the items to make them yourself? I have found sets of 500 poker chips (clay) for about $30. If I could get a decent quality sticker made for them, preferably water proof, I think that is the way to go. I thank anyone in advance for their input.
  20. The other option is to continue to use GSAK via a Windows emulator on the Mac (there are several out there). Many people report success with this. I will have to ask my bro about this. I think he said that he has some kind of virtual PC program on the Mac. I was using GSAK to upload multiple caches at a time to both the palm and the GPS. What program would replace that?
  21. I had been using a PC with a GSAK and cachemate with a Palm PDA, loading PQ's. My bro gave me a recent IMac, which I have now realized will not work with at least GSAK. My GPS in a Vista HCX. What is a comparable suggestion for a Mac? I also recently bought an Ipod 8GB Nano, which I have read is also a possibility for geocaching. It is smaller that the Palm and my Palm's battery is unreliable. I would appreciate any suggestions.
  22. Thanks everyone. I will just keep doing what I am doing. Thanks FTF Whore :-)
  23. I leave all 4000 in GSAK, then use a filter to load a bunch (800-1000) of caches to my GPS. I have all 4000 in my Palm. I update the 4000 in the palm so that the logs are recent, to include DNF's or essential info. If I am going to an area beyond 45 miles from home, I erase all waypoints from the GPS and load other ones in for the area I am going to. Is there a more effective or better way to cache in areas both 45 miles from home and various areas further away. Once or twice a month we take a day trip more than 45 miles from home. I just didn't know if it was bad for the GPS to erase all, add all, erase all, add all.
  24. There are not a lot of caches near me that I have not gotten, so I tend to make a day trip with my family. Currently I have all caches within 45 miles of home (900+) in my GPSr. However, if I do a daytrip I am going 60+ miles from home. So, I erase all waypoints from my GPSr and load all from the centerpoint between home and the farthest I will travel. I have the Garmin Vista HCX with a 2 GB card in it, but it will not allow me to load more than 1000 waypoints/geocaches. When I get home from a trip I reload the 45 miles radius back into my GPS so that they are there in case we get a few hours together to grab a few. Like yesterday we got 6 of them 20 miles from home. That is considered close for us. I am using GSAK and have the 45 miles that I just reload every time I get home, if I have erased them. Is it ok to erase all waypoints and reload them? Sorry if this is confusing. I am also using a PDA Palm m505 with cachemate to store all 4000 caches within 110 miles. I update it before heading out, so that the logs are recent.
  25. I live in Benezette, Elk County. If you have not been here you should come check out the Elk. There are geocaches placed in area perfect for viewing the Elk.
