  1. I don't have a colorado or a MAC but I have an Oregon. The file has to be unzipped. I use "EasyGPS" free software to put in it the GPS. Don't know if they have a MAC version. Sorry.
  2. the map 60 offers the ability to plug in an external antenna which I have and use anytime I'm in the bush hiking which is twice a week. For geocaching I use my oregon 400t

  4. March 31 and no logs Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  5. Downloaded the PQ to my Oregon last Wed, Mar 31 and go no logs. :-(
  6. Map Source will not save GPX FILES using Vista. How can I download from my map 60 tracks and then save as gpx which I need for my DeLorme map program. Wai`anae CRider
  7. Yup, worked just fine. Tks
  8. All the "good" things mentioned about the Oregon are true. But....... If you cache in areas where getting a good signal is difficult the 60CSx has a better receiver and you can plug in an external antenna. Wai`anae CRider. PS I own both and often take both along on the hunt.
  9. Thanks, the delete make sense. I have used the pocket query function and it didn't seem to "over ride" existing caches. Will try it all tonight. Wai`anae CRider
  10. I have an Oregon 400t and some of the cache discriptions do not show the comments by other cachers. Some do. Any idea why? Been thinking about deleating all the caches and reloading the O`ahu info but I can't find a way to deleat all geocaches. Thanks, Wai`anae CRider
  11. I have the Map 60Cx and sometime , not often, the arrow doesn't even show. Turning it off and on makes no difference. It's happened 3 times in 2009. Wai`anae CRider
  12. Don't forget to get an external antenna if you frequent tall trees and or narrow valleys. Wai`anae CRider
  13. Thanks, Great place to start..... So far it looks like the Legend HCx may be what we go with.... Cabelas has the Legend HCx bundle for $299 ... is this a good $$$ or not ...Comments????? Get the 60 Cx as the bottom. External antenna is a great option for the 60.
  14. I have both the Oregon 400t and the 60Cx The Oregon is great until you get into heavy tree cover or narrow canyons. Then you'll wish you had the 60 with an external antenna. I"ve used the Oregon in open places and it is great and paperless. I've carried both in to heavy forest and the Oregon looses the sat's while the 60 and the external stay locked in. Think about that..... Wai`anae CRider
  15. Believe me, I'm not in this to win any popularity contests. I could care less what people here think of me. I'm just trying to understand why the double standard. THere are 16 caches out there that support the same agenda that someone else was told they couldn't have on their page. At least 14 of them have previously had SBA posts put on them. THose were summarily deleted. But the caches remained without modification. What gives? Cache Addickt???? This person just became a cacher on Oct 16th and is deep in this discussion. Said cacher has found NO caches to date. Me thinks he/she has an AGENDA.....
  16. Supporting the troops has nothing to do w/KILLING Iranian's or other middle easterners. I'm sure there are a few thousand who are in the U. S. armed forces...............
  17. NOT supporting the troops. Now that IS an agenda and it's anti-American!!! Yes I know all cachers are not Americans.
  18. This is an agenda cache. Supporting the troop IS NOT.
  19. Right on buddy. I once was one of them and am damm proud of it.
  20. This is a good topic. When traveling to an area far from home it is hard to get to the rural caches. You may not have a 4 x 4 to get there, or not knowing the back country it might not be safe to go there alone. That's were urban caches come in handy. BUT NOT the ones in parking lots. Urban caches w/a nice view, or near something really worth seeing like a beach, or nice park are what I like. Now for me I've hidden 80 caches on the island of O`ahu, Hawai`i. 90% are in the boonies, but they are well worth the hike. You'll get some history, see a great view, or perhaps see a really dark place. My favorite caches now are my "Entrance to the Underworld" caches. These are NOT in caves, but man made tunnels. Here is a link to one. You get wet feet, and need a flashlight. After entering the tunnel and making a 90 degree turn you have no daylight, but you hear running water. Hmmmmmmmm what is ahead besides the cache????????????? The Underworld
  21. Well as the #1 cache hider on O`ahu it's time for my two cents. As has been said before we don't need more WalMart parking lot like micro caches here in the islands. Although on trips to the mainland I will look for some just to get the most out of my travel dollars, most are not fun to find. Most have no reason to bring you to that location other than to find the micro. Although a few of my 80 hides are archived ALL of them bring you to a place you would have enjoyed traveling to even if there was no cache to log. I try to take you on an adventure to the top of the mountain, deep in the jungle to a water fall, or into the deepest darkest water tunnels I can find. I take it back. There is one on my property that is a travel bug cache and not in a special space except that you may meet ME Wai`anae CRider
  22. Anyone having trouble registering online? When I try the first thing it tells me is to update software from 2.1 to 2.2 This dosn't work, It only gets about 1% into the download when it kicks out. I tried to call them at 8:30 Hawaiian time and they said average waiting time was 30 min so I hung up and will try early Monday morning. Wai`anae CRider
  23. Let's see, here on O`ahu, Hawaii there are a few of what some might call Power Trails. One comes to mind the Likeke Trail which I did on Friday W/2 Canadian cachers here w/the Canadian Navy for RIMPAC. There were 7 caches on the trail put up by 7 different people over a few years. I myself have a few caches streached over a 6 or 7 mile hike that would take one at least 5 hours to do. I try to get people out to new trail by placing 3 or 4 caches over a distance of 6 or 7 "hard" miles. Not many would work so hard for a single at the end or a 3 stage multi.
