Garmin geocoin promotion:All coin versions now released.
mandarin replied to slimey's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I've just merged JustAlan's topic posts into this main Topic regarding the Garmin UK geocoins promotion, so that all the comments regarding distribution are in the same place. mandarin -
What happened to GeocacheUK?
mandarin replied to DutchGeek & Lollypops's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I'm closing this Topic because it's already being discussed over in this thread: GeocacheUK Topic Thanks. mandarin -
As the UK Reviewers have now responded to the OP's request and this thread is now going off topic into a Sing-Along, I think it's time to close it. mandarin <quack>

As the OP has been answered, as has the follow-up question, this thread is now going off topic so I am closing it. mandarin

Using a handheld garmin and driving
mandarin replied to minstrelcat's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
That gave me a chance to practise my merging powers - Hopefully we now have all the posts in one thread. mandarin -
Thanks to all who've added their posts so far - I know a couple of other groups have this in their "pending tray" to do later. MrsB

This thread has now gone round in a complete circle. It has wandered on and off topic. I would like to repeat my previous comment about the use of inappropriate words - "Intent is all" - For what it is worth this is the instruction l received from Groundspeak. I've decided it's now time to close this thread. Thank you to all contributors. mandarin
-
Yes, that's fine.

Bumped to keep this in view until local groups have noted it.

I've been following this thread carefully and some parts have been very interesting but my feeling is that not only is it now straying Off Topic, it's also straying well away from being Geocaching-related, which is what this Forum is about. I don't want to close the thread (although I will do so if I feel it's rambled enough) - most posts have followed forum guidelines well - but I want to get back to some relevance to Geocaching. Would any following posters please get it back in the required direction, please? mandarin

I've been asked to create this new pinned topic - All the regional forums have one in the above format. I think it's self explanatory: The GAGB is probably the best known of our UK organisations - they may like to post their brief introduction, then refer readers to their other pinned topic for more detailed news. All our other local forums are welcome to also post their brief details to introduce themselves to new geocachers. If any more explanation is needed, then "self" will try to explain mandarin <edited to put a little orange exclamation mark over on the side because it doesn't get used very often and was feeling neglected>

This topic is to let you know about the U.K. and regional geocaching organisations near you. Some of these groups hold Event caches and/or have on-line forums where geocachers in the same area can get to know each other and share information. Geocaching organisations can play an important role in maintaining good relations with local land managers where we play this game and getting involved in your local group is a great way to make new friends and find answers to questions about your local caching scene. It is up to representatives of the organisations to maintain this thread as a list of links to the geocaching groups in the U.K. Please feel free to write a brief post about your group, giving its name, the area where most of its members live and a link to the group's website, forum or mailing list. If your information changes later on, post a follow-up post. Please do not use this pinned topic to promote individual events or initiatives that your group is undertaking. You may wish to start separate topics for those. Finally, please note that this thread is not an endorsement by Groundspeak of any organisation. It's just a convenient list of links.

For future reference, I will not be editing out every usage of d.amn (with its moveable full stop). If it is used in a post, I will look at the over-all context of the usage and act as I see fit. As others have commented elsewhere, the "intent" is all. I'm rather hoping that this whole good words/naughty words debate will soon run its course and we can get on with discussing other, more interesting, geocaching related matters. mandarin

I ask all posters to consider the following: Respect: Respect the guidelines for forum usage, and site usage. Respect Groundspeak, its employees, volunteers, yourself, fellow community members, and guests on these boards. Whether a community member has one post or 5,000 posts, they deserve the same respect. Thank you mandarin

The Hornet (Lactodorum as was)
mandarin replied to Us 4 and Jess's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
This thread is getting out of control. I wanted to leave it open for the Hornet to respond but peoples actions are now to the point where I don't feel it can be left open until then. I am closing this thread for 24 hours. At the end of that time it will be reopened with the understanding that people behave and act like adults. If not it will be closed again and not reopened. Please do not open another thread on this subject during this time. mandarin -
My apologies for addressing the ewe as a ram. I couldn't tell under that thick fleece.

I have been quietly watching this thread through the evening: I am happy for it to remain open as long as it stays on topic and the posts are civil. Thank you. mandarin -
