  1. T-"L"-TC...Do you mean TFTC SL? Thank-you For The Cache Signed Log, TLTC...never heard of it, try Geo-Lex, or here Welcome aboard!
  2. Interesting. My page has a "List newest in United States" with United States as a link to page where I have to select a State to see a list of caches. The list appears to be the same as when I go to the "Hide & Seek a Cache" page then select "New York" from the "by State/Province" select list. That will also give you the newest caches in a State/Province and since it will include events in the future they'll always be on top. I have tried the advanced search, it only brings up caches nearby...and not the newest published ones. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Also..my friend is a premium member, and has his home cords set. He's a newb, first year caching...not that that should matter, So not sure as to why he has no link on the "My" page, been scouring for a way to set it up, or perhaps this is an old feature grandfathered out? K my next step is the support forum, was hoping there was a simple solution answer. K TY
  3. Tonight was out caching, me and my buddy use geosphere, love the app, still use the official GS app, but Geosphere is just a good paperless option. Any rate, he had gone on vaca, and while gone had no til=me to load them into G-sphere. I told hime, just go to the profile page, and in the "search Options" box just below the favorites box is a link, that will list the newest published for a specified state, in my case it's RI. He says it is not there, so I looked, and sure enough he had no link like mine. I have cached since 08. Have always seen the link, so have no clue how I have it, as he wants it added. My page has the following: Search for nearest geocaches from your home location (filter out finds). List newest in Rhode Island View nearby benchmarks View nearby waymarks View nearby challenges His omits the first link..(In bold) yet has all the underlined links. Does anyone know where I go to add it, is there a preference setting I am missing? K TY Cache on! tttt
  4. I am not having the same issue... I can not get the PQ to D/L. what I get when I d/l is a .ashx....THE ACTUAL FILE TITLE: 7868052_&quot.ashx, Not sure why, last night was able to get the data just fine... but not today. Hope it is fixed soon.
  5. I started geocaching with a NUVI 200...have seen folks caching with a NUVI unit of sorts a few times. I will say that they will get you near the CC, however, they are not the most desirable for off road...but are good for the on road driving portion, otherwise, leave it in the car. I do not miss my first few weeks caching with just the nuvi 200...still have it, as well as a nuvi 255w. Tried it again during geowoodstock IX, because my Oregon went on the fritz, and remembered the no joy of the earlier experiences, it will get you near, but the radius is up to you to find the coveted CC! Use the smartphone, or get a new handheld, till then... fine tune your geosense, if you cache with a NUVI...it makes for a great practice in the geosense category!
  6. Well not sure how earthcaches work, but I know you can use GSAK, and with a macro , you can generate badges, I have them on my profile. I'll have to find the macro, think it;s badgegen.gsk.
  7. moun10bike 913 As you can see, not much action except for my moving it from time to time. It does state that: "Have you found this coin? A special cache for finders will be in place soon! For more information on Moun10Bike Geocoins, please visit this page. This coin may be kept, traded, sent traveling, gifted or otherwise enjoyed by the holder. I do, however, retain the right to delete virtual logs or other bogus logs. Also, no sales of this geocoin are allowed." Still curious as to what cache will be coming soon! And for the life of me...what secret code is embedded? Arrg...Mou10bike...Arrg!http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif
  8. This peaks my curiosity. I started geocaching in July of 2008. I went to an event, just like any other noob, to get a few questions and feel for this new hobby. K nothing unusual so far, however, that day, there was as at any event a contest with coins or swag as prizes. well I won my first coin, and apparently it was a special one, as I was being handed the coin, they were quite persistent about me holding on to and safe guarding this coin, and seemed like I was quite a popular guy that day as scores of folk wanted to see..er discover, even trade me for this coin. That coin was a Moun10bike coin, and have had it since, esp when I heard that it supposedly holds clues to a secret cache hidden. Which I still think is well a bowl of wheaties. Since that day, I had a few emails but after 2009 the coin just seems like any other, except it is a Mou10bike coin, the original geocache coin creator. So now who has 268 of em? Would love to see the list, as I have always been curious as to what to do with this coin I possess.
  9. jjred's break them into different files because each POI file can only have one icon type. If you don't mind all types of caches (and child waypoints) showing up as the ammo box, there's no need to switch to jjred. What GPSr do you have? I have the Nuvi 255W, Nuvi 200 and Oregon 450t. The problem I have encountered as of lately...is that pilotsnipes macro, appears to work, but then you start to open the POIloader, and some databases go through, while others pop up a message stating invalid files blah blah. Also experiencing the same issue with jjreds. As I live in NE...so I have 3 primary state databases, as well as a couple misc, usually a mystery solved and a my finds. P.S Macro, has worked up till like about 2 weeks ago, I had to load fresh PQ's, and they all went thru except the misc databases, tried a new state, nothing but the message, confusing indeed! I just can not figure out the error codes or what is causing the all of a sudden in-validness of the files. I will be on the look out for a new macro, my hope is the jjred's will perhaps allow for that single file option, I have no need for a huge set of categories, just want the out of state data at hand. Tried GSAK forums, no dice there, they directed me to a macro, that bypasses the POIloader, which is fine...but again breaks and dissects all the data into categories...to me seems a bit of overkill. K..well back to googling, not sure how to set up macros, both are great macros, wish I had the scrupuls to code one myself!
  10. Someone found out that the HTML color tags are messing with either POI Loader or the Nuvi itself. But if jjred works for you, it's probably best. Well. D/L'd JJreds, it worked fine, on a couple databases, but others not so, much like pilotsnipes. I am no good at figuring out macro code. I like pilotsnipes better, just because it was a two file output, and covered all the databases, children and parents, where jjreds seems to output a lot of files, breaks it down to every imaginable category and then when on the nuvi, well, each state database, is not under one heading, so results in allot of scrolling. At least from a home base perspective, perhaps I'll give it a field test, maybe that'll change my mind. Both...when working, are fine tho. I'll check back to hear more on this html color tag issue, as I am really confused at this point, the pilotsnipes worked fine for me this past year or so, now...well I am lost, esp w/ my mystery solved data base just can not seem to process thru, so gonna have to look around for a solution, sure something will come along! A challenge for all the code crackers out there, one I have no clue where to start!
  11. I had a 400t, just beware of that rocker wheel! After about a year and a half, it just fell off, wore out , then I tried to get it refurbished, but the cost was a bit high compared to the part, 145 bucks if I sent it to garmin. Otherwise, a good unit did not play with it much, so basically just loaded the .gpx and went caching.
  12. Well I too have been using the pilotsnipes macro. Till recently it will not process thru the poi loader. tried new data, and some went thru, while others are just being stubborn (Others = databases), so will give this newest one jjreds a shot, as I am not any good at tweeking a macro. Like the pilotsnipes macro, did just what I wanted and was clean, so hope this one does the same, looks similar, but will have to see, and post back later.
  13. I have about 4..3 I created, of my 3 one was 2 have a completion, and the ranks up/down, barely a drop in the bucket...unless they work on it to where they show up in a PQ, and treat them like a cache, ownership, the like... think they are going down in flames. I was for them, and still am, but with the way they are now, just not working, and just in case anyone is interested...there is a separate app for the challenges, quite a lame app, but it is there, seems like Waymarking all over, not virtuals! I still try them from time to time, and think they could work, if they get listed as a cache type, show up as a cache in a PQ, etc, but we shall see, the frog seemed quite adamant that they would remain, so time will tell!
  14. I don't know who found it but it looks like it was found in Maine, in between Tennants Harbor and Port Clyde. I was in that area a couple of years ago and I suspect that one would have to be pretty familiar with the area to find it considering all of the clues were in New York. I personally, almost headed to Kennebunk ME, after watching the live slide show, as all the clues led up into VT, but it was in ME, and then the guy came in placed a stump, and a pic of the "Call" sign, but had no clue as to who to call, but see the number in the winner video, guess I should of been a bit more patient! LOL But the feed seemed to stop, so the last clue Call...Had no clue and it was along the coast,a ways from Kennebunk, I think bout 250 mile estimated guess. either way a ways up, from RI, well hope Mellissa is a cacher, she now has a sweet ride! go to youtube.com/dodge...shows the "Winner", and location. I posted earlier...about the "Cop incident"....I heard the second journey...was "Found" by a cop who was in charge, or assisted in road blocks..."found" it, but never claimed it...lotta internet grapevine stuff. So whether or not it was found am not sure, so that is the best I can do to clear that up for now.
  15. Just heard about the journey that is to be un raveled this week-end, and thus far...heard VT, and now this...if a true real bonafide geocachers nudge, leads me to a pretty cool spot appx 200 miles away! And if where they located the others is any indication, I may have an idea, as there is a very popular destination nearby! Question is, is it real, and worth the drive based on such an early hunch! Such fun still, a 1-in million chance at a kool geomobile! Adding: Well apparently the cat is out of the bag! I was trying to not post a spoiler, but that has already been accomplished, so let's see a second geocacher get this one, and hope a repetition of that cop incident does not transpire a second time!
  16. OK..While there are several ways to load a 265W, I use GSAK, and a macro that creates a POI or a .GPX that loads onto it like a POI. The macro I use is Convertnuvigpx, there is another, but I only used it once, the one I listed here, works quite well. I created a folder for each of my GPS'rs as I have the Nuvi 200 and Nuvi 265w, and a Oregon 550T. The cool thing about this macro...is you can customize the Icon...the macro will generate 3 files. I take the .GPX and .jpg, the .jpg, can be opened in paint, and resized or edited, then just open the Garmin POI Loader app. K hope this helps, it is really easy to do, and works great!
  17. A BIG HUGE THANK-YOU I just sort of stumbled across this the other day, and D/L'd V.8.91 Beta...but it really is a great upgrade, love the way in connects to GS API, simply awesome, again TY! I just posted the very same query in the GSAK forums, "Noob" questions, basically got the answer was to save from V.7 and restore in V.8, but the admin explains it quite well here Here is the actual reply: 5) You can transfer everything easily: open Version 7, go to File>Backup, choose All Databases and All Settings (this includes your macros). Save the file somewhere on your PC. Now close V7 and open V8, go to File>Restore. Select all databases and all settings. Your V7 data and settings will now be imported into V8. K well GSAK is full circle , can not see how it can get any better, simply awesome!
  18. TY...I re-posted mainly because, I just can not figure out why the error page, Yes, I have cleared the cache of cookies, and re-booted, but it just re-appears. Figured had a new app...figured I'd put up a video...sure it ain't the greatest, but I am no film director, and so am pretty shocked at all the "reg" critics. Of course...guess I should of known, but that is how these forums work. K well now I know...It is on my end, just was curious if anyone else had this happen on a regular basis, for the last 2 weeks or so, no big deal, just an extra couple of clicks.

  20. +Geocaching..GL..As stated earlier...gotta REALLY listen to the silent signal that women expect us men to hear so clearly!!
  21. K...Guess it is just me...here is the link that I get for every Travel Bug, or Geocoin .....You then have to hit the back button and re-submit the lig page...NO ONE ELSE has this issue? Hmm.....The last 50 bugs I have logged has been directed to this error page, and it looks like that update, had no affect on this.
  22. OK opened it in Npad, looks like there are actual caches, so looks like it is on the GSAK end, I'll try a new database. Curious though, now that I know you can open these in a Notepad....is there a way to work the data... I have not much in experience in programming, and even so, not sure as to what I would do! OK well back on to my op, see if I can't get this worked out, but think the .GPX will be fine to place onto a GPS, from what I have seen in N-Pad, TY Knowschad. ------------------------------------------------- OK..tried your last suggestion...a bad database. Opened a new one and it worked out fine. Guss I learned a few new things today! Never knew a GSAK Database could go "Bad", and that Notepad! Kool, appreciate the assist Knowschad!
  23. You can open these in Note Pad? Good to know. I opened them in Basecamp fine, so has to be a GSAK Issue, Hav'nt posted to that forum yet..as it was working fine all the time, over 465 days, with out any issues. But now to look at the notepad. TY
  24. Have you looked at the actual .GPX file to see what it looks like? I have only tried to open the .GPX with in GSAK, About to try Mapsource, still wary to try them on the GPS. Never seen this happen before, just not sure what to do.
