Library Offering "gpsr" for checkout
brainandbraun replied to BareFeat's topic in General geocaching topics
In our area, there is a city that has a check out policy for a gps with information on local caches through it's visitor's bureau. It's a great way to get people to check out the city and the game without the monetary investment. -
You are addicted when you discover a new cacher is placing caches in "your territory", and it's on! Racing around creating and placing willy-nilly so no one else can encroach on "your territory". Oh yeah, this is just a game... then WHY DO WE KEEP SCORE!!! Yup, it's the truth, a noob placed 2 in a park that we had hid in prior, only to have this cache muggled. How did we handle this encroachement? By looking at every concievable location, then hid two and bought a dozen bisons to counter this menace...serenity now!

stinkin double post...

did it for both brain and braun. If you want to check results at any time, all you have to do is open the link again, like you did when you entered your info, and then click on "view stats" rather than entering an age.

Caches Found by Non-Geocachers?
brainandbraun replied to geo climber's topic in General geocaching topics
I don't think "a find is a find". Intentionally searching for and locating a specific geocache is quite different than accidentally finding that same cache. Really? I didn't ever realize that Groundspeak had a way of logging "found it by being a completely lucky individual who happened to stumble upon a silver ammo can in the woods while out for a walk with the dog" or "found it with a great deal of work and struggle"? I was under the impression that it was "found it" or "didn't find it"? Am I missing something? -
Caches Found by Non-Geocachers?
brainandbraun replied to geo climber's topic in General geocaching topics
Hey, a find is a find. If finding a cache on accident gets someone to log on and join rather than trash the cache, then good. What difference does it make whether the find or the join comes first? -
Egypt doesn't like GPS to be in civilian hands
brainandbraun replied to Roarmeister's topic in General geocaching topics
This is a good reminder to check to see if GPSrs are allowed in a country before you travel. You don't want your mondo expensive new super-garmin to be confiscated. At the very least, I'll be investing in a cheapo geko before my Russia trip. They know the truth, they did not build the Sphinx or the great pyrimid, the guy in charge of digs is especially protective of those monuments even-though ground penetrating radar has proven the existiance of spaces under both monuments. Until times change we won't know the truth. Sad, the legacy of humanity may go far back into history. Still, it remains to be seen, what really happened? -
We like exchanging t.b.s', most swag is fast food toys...

How Many Hides Do You Have?
brainandbraun replied to downtherabbithole's topic in General geocaching topics
We enjoy hidding as much as finding. We take great pride in the fact that if you come to Janesville Wisconsin you will find a variety of caches placed by us. -

How do you prepare your Ammo Can?
brainandbraun replied to Turtle_Sask's topic in General geocaching topics
that's the best reply yet!!! -
I love moving trackables, best part of this game! I take however many trackables I can if I can help them on their mission. They should'nt be left in a cache for long! They are TRAVEL bugs. We have a t.b. hotel, drop as many/take what you want is my rule, it's a game not a dictatorship
-
I agree, too well traveled areas are not a good place, we have one well off the "beaten path" of major through-ways so a dedicated cacher will find and swap, not muggles who are curious. I check it at least once a month and move along any stragglers to another "safe" cache.

Micro caches are getting out of control
brainandbraun replied to 3costcoguys's topic in General geocaching topics
The economy sucks, 2 wars and unemploymet soars. Are micro's really that bad? -
We would like to add some of our caches to current bookmark listings. One example is, we have some cemetary caches and there is a bookmark listing for WI cemetary caches. How do we add ours to it?
-
I didn't, thanks.

That rocks! The wife will be in Madtown for work soon and she plans on caching w/o me Trackables and their story are my fav. part of geo-caching. I'm asking "Santa" for some travel bugs.

Caching outside the container?
brainandbraun replied to brainandbraun's topic in General geocaching topics
Oh, my goodness! I can't imagine losing two so close together. I'm so sorry. Hopefully, when the time is right you will find new family members - not to replace those who are gone, but to share in that joy of getting to know someone new and sharing in new adventures. -
Man, comp not working right. Didn't mean to double post, I love moving trackables around, even have our own t.b. hotel (Natureland Hotel). So if anyone knows of any in so. WI we would love to know to help move 'em around!
