  1. If you want to get a comfort level going ... go to the site and log out. Then go to the page and view your log. You'll see it as anyone else does ... without those links. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  2. Don't forget knocking down spider webs on that early morning cache hunt! The first time I saw someone in Linville Gorge with a set of "ski poles" I thought it was kind of weird looking. Once I used one (I usually only use one, just a personal preference) ... I was hooked. Noting better than a extra balance point when negotiating a steep trail with a full pack. Of course they might just come in handy to "whack" anyone that might call me a sissy as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!

  4. That's the one! Geesh ... thanks guys ... I appreciate the quick response. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  5. Several months ago ... either in a forum or just lurking around the internet ... I saw a sight that sold low cost GPS antennas ... similar to the Mighty Mouse style antenna ... lower cost ... could get short wire or long wire version. Does anyone know the antenna I'm referring to? Know the link? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  6. That's great ... I love the "accidental" cache you created by having a waypoint for your home. You should let the officer you spoke with know how it "found" it's way home. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  7. During CacheHunter 1's big 100th cache celebration hunt ... he was faced with a bored rock with a hidden clue. This was a little treat from Huggy and Triffid. It was done at Triffid's factory with some heavy duty equipment. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  8. I just saw it myself ... last month, for the first time on a hotel TV in Shanghai ... Dubbed in Chinese! Have no clue what was said ... but I recognized the face! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  9. Yeah, when I was opening it up .. it caught me off guard .. there is no wiring connecting the batteries to the circuit board ... actually a very smart assembly friendly solution. Look at this picture and in the red circles you can see the terminals from the battery compartment and the terminals on the circuit board. Hope this helps ... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!

  11. It's a nice concept ... but personally it gives me flash backs from every anal retentive "human resources" manager I've ever encountered in the last 26 years! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  12. It's just a slight goof in manufacturing design. The way it's assembled ... it's darn near guaranteed for a high percentage of failure. When I say failure ... I mean it comes lose as it gets torqued during assembly ... not enough to fail ... but it will eventually ... a little at a time in the best case scenerio. I bet one of the product engineers noticed the flaw. I mean it's basic production line common sense. Sorry ... it's the engineer gene kicking in. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  13. Well ... "this guy" ... had one of the first units. It never was subjected to extremely high temperatures but I hauled it all over South America, Zimbabwe and parts of China with no failure of the rubber parts. While removing it ... it was securely attached. Re-attachment was done using the residual adhesive on the band. I have a rubber/plastic adhesive that I'm keeping to use if it starts to loosen up. The trick was the vinyl tape to seal it from water ... but still let the buttons function ... and keep the adhesive gunk out. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!

  16. Thanks for all the emails ... 32 so far. I'm going overseas for a while so I won't always have a good internet connection. If you want a copy of the PDF file you can find it here. If anyone has any suggestions or finds any of it confusing ... let me know and I'll see if I can help or refine the instructions. Robert's going to also post these instructions on keenpeople.com so you should be able to find it there soon. Hope it helps. Remember if your unit is under warranty ... I'd let them fix it. But if you're past that point and want to save the bucks ... a little patience and a steady hand ... pays off big time. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  17. Well I'll be darn ... I'm on 3.2 right now .. I've not had the lock up problem ... but that's probably a good reason to take her up a notch. Wonder why I've not run into that problem before? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  18. That's pretty interesting ... how limited is the free version ... feature or time wise? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!

  22. Hooking up a serial cable to a USB port is more than a cable ... it's a bit more compliated than that. I've never taken one apart to see what's in there ... but, I actually had to install a set of drivers to get the laptop to communicate with the scanner. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!

  24. There's another problem to watch out for ... scratching especially by kids can cause a nasty little problem called Impetigo... it can really get serious. So watch the little ones! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
  25. It seems if you go to a string that has not posted recently ... all the Posts stats say 0. Post to it and all the posts go back to the correct count.
