  1. There is still a link on the profile page to "Search for geocaches near your home location" - click on that then one more click on the "Placed" header and the events pop to the top. Voila!

It does not work as well as the link for newest in our province. We love to know what events are going on all over our province and attend when we can. The method you mentioned showed 1 event compared to the 6 that are listed now. At times, the newest in our province has a whole page of events listed. We would never know what was going on.

Exactly. You don't see the events that way.

Sorry folks, we can beg and complain all we want. However, Mr. Irish and his people are going to do what they feel is best for us, not what we want. They have never been a company that listens to its customers. I've been with them since 2003 and it's just not going to happen.

  2. It would sure be nice to see www.geocaching.com ask it's customers what they would like sometime. Instead, we get told what we want. Good customer service begins with good customer interaction, but in my last 11 years of Geocaching, I have barely seen that happen if ever. We quite often hear, "It's their game and you're going to have to play it their way if you want to play it at all." That does not make good customer relations. So, now instead of selecting one link, I have to select multiple items, and create a new bookmark, that won't work for me on a borrowed computer. Okay fine, I'll adjust again, just before I throw you another $30 next month.

So, please explain how does this change make Geocaching.com better? Because, you wouldn't make changes, unless they made things better would you?

  3. Well, I thought it was fixed tonight so I finally paid the $10 and downloaded it for my Android. It worked fine until I had a Force Close, and now I can't log in again. I was afraid of this and c:geo was working great for me for FREE. But, I was feeling guilty so I installed the app made by Groundspeak. So $10 later and I am not happy.

  4. You may also notice something interesting. Under "Settings" there is a new option, "Find Filtering." If you select this option you can have the cache listings either show or hide caches that you have already found. For all of you that have requested this option, it is now in the free version but will be ported back into the other code bases and released. As you may recall I have said that getting things onto the carrier deck takes time. When this occurs I will post accordingly.

Can you clarify? Does this mean that ONLY the free version has this functionality right now?

I haven't "boosted" my phone in a while due to this feature so I can't test it myself and I want to be sure this is ready before I reactivate it.

    Thanks.

Yahoo on filtering finds!!!! :anibad: Now if we can just figure out this whole US Cellular issue. My manager said he got an email today from someone at GN asking for what version of software he was using on our Blackberrys. I assume then that someone is trying to work out the bugs.

  5. I got a reply from Rebecca at Trimble today, and we spoke on the phone. They believe the issue may lie in a change that my service provider has made. I feel better now, and Rebecca was great to work with! I hope they get it worked out soon, because it is a nice piece of software.

    Thank you schnider!

We really do want to hear from our users. We have received input from several users unable to operate Geocache Navigator software through US Cellular. We are currently troubleshooting the issues we have received; please provide us with your experience thus far using our software with US Cellular and any other carrier for that matter :anibad: We recently added new forums to the www.geocachenavigator.com website for our users to voice their opinions. Geocaching.com will remain a valuable resource for our users and we value their comments and opinions.

Thank you to the people at Geocache Navigator for working on these issues to make their software better.

I have just registered at the new forums at www.geocachenavigator.com, but I feel really dumb. For the life of me, I can't find an "add reply" button anywhere.

  6. I have a Blackberry 8830 on the US Cellular data plan, and I installed Geocache Navigator on it about 3 weeks ago. It seemed to work really good right off the bat, but now it is having serious issues getting a satellite signal. I am pretty sure it isn't my BB because I can use the Blackberry Maps application and that always seems to get a signal. As a matter of fact, the Maps application gets a signal in about 30 seconds every time. If I close it, and open GN in the exact same location (very clear sky area) it will sit for 5 minutes and not get even a weak signal at all.

I tried un-installing and re-installing the software on my BB. For the first 3 minutes it worked great again, then the GPS signal went totally dead again. I have sent an email to Trimble Support about my problem.

My manager at work has the same BB on the same network, and has been having the same issue, starting at the same time, I just can't seem to get any help.

Over a week ago I emailed support@GeocacheNavigator.com and didn't get a response. I did get a response from a tech at Handmark, where I bought my service. He has been trying to get someone from Trimble to help us since Tuesday. I just sent an email to support@trimbleoutdoors.com and hopefully I get some help there. I guess if I don't here from them soon, I will have to call Trimble. My one month of service runs out on Feb. 18th. I almost paid for a full year, but as of right now I am glad I didn't.

When it was working, I really liked it. It was pretty good for spontaneous caching.

  8. Any update on the "filter out finds" upgrade?

I've let my Boost phoen expire since I cache heavily in my home area and when I want to use this to grab a quick one it just pulls up everything that I've already found.

Filtered finds is the number 1 upgrade we are seeking to build into the next version. I don't have a firm date at this time for an upgrade though. I will keep eveyone posted once more is known.

    Larry (Trimble Outdoors)

At this piont, that is what I wouold like to see changed too. So will current users be elligible for the upgrades? I just don't want to pay for a year and not get updates.

  9. This is not the greatest, but it worked okay for me.

1.Open GSAK and Select the Geocaches you want to Find for that day

    2. Click FILE / PRINT

    3. Select Condensed HTML and any other options below you wish to have

    4. Click Print

    5. When the window opens to select Printer Print it to a PDF (if you don’t have a PDF creator download cutepdf it is free)

    6. Select location you want to save file and name it whatever you want

    7. Open MobiReader

    8. Select Import and select PDF for file type

    9. Browse to the file you just created

WALLA you now have only the caches you want for that day

They caches are sorted in the order they appear in GSAK

  10. I have been using wap.geocaching.com for at least 6 months now. Unfortunately there isn't service everywhere. I wish GSAK, CacheMate, GPZ Sonar, etc would make an application that works on the Blackberry. I have also tried to use MobiPocket, but it too has not impressed me like GPX Sonar on my pocket PC.

  11. I changed my email address and I funally got that PQ. The strange thing is that the eamil size for that PQ wasn't much different than my normal PQs. Oh well, I got it anyway.

  12. The only one that I am not getting is the "My Finds" one that you can only run weekly.

If that is the case, it's likely that your ISP limits the size of attachments (your MY FINDS may be larger than a typical PQ since you have more than 500 finds). Try sending it to a different email address and see if that helps.

Thanks for the tip, that is a great idea, but can I send the My Finds Query to an alternate email address? If so, how do I cahnge that one. I know how to do it on all of PQ's that I have created, but not that one

The MY FINDS PQ gets sent to the address that is setup as your contact email in your GC profile. Change it there to redirect the MY FINDS PQ to another account.

Thanks, but that was what I was afraid you were going to tell me.

  14. I have to decide on whether or not I want to add out a new icon for Iowa. I have messed around with a few ideas and came up with this image. It is the outline of Iowa with the Iowa map within it. I do not seem to be able to make the image any clearer than what you see.  going down to a 32 x 32 gif image you lose clarity.

So any thoughts on whether you think it would be good enough?

    IA2.gif

That would be great! Excellent choice for the icon.
