  1. Try this., pages 60 & 61.
  2. I think you'll be quite satisfied with cachemate. That's all I used for the longest time. I downloaded GSAK about a month or so ago, and now use it to sort and filter caches for potential hunts, and then download the caches to the GPS from there. As you said, with GSAK you can sort the gpx file and convert them to cachemate format, and then sync them to your PDA. If you decide to try GSAK, I think it's still free, you just have the option of paying. A lot of people have.
  3. I have said to myself that I wasn't going to enter anything that got political, but, before this one gets shut down, just my 2¢ worth: It's almost funny how pre 9/11 we had neighborhood watch and not too many people thought of Big Brother or Hermann Goering. Now, post 9/11, if we want to watch out for our neighborhood, some seem to get some heavy duty Orwellian thoughts. Yes, we do need to watch that we don't start spying on one another, but yes, some eyes outside aren't bad either. There are bad people out there, whether dope dealers or terrorists or just plain crazies. I'd like to know my neighbors are watching out for me and I will watch out for them.
  4. I'd quit with the mobipocket and go with Cachemate and GSAK. There are others out there that are being used, but I find this combo great.
  5. I'm going to chime in with my agreement that yes, a PDA is a very useful tool. There have been several suggestions of what software to use, and I'll give my vote for GSAK (go to paypal and make a $15 donation), and Cachemate, one of the best $7 you'll ever spend.
  6. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - After a series of delays prompted by technical glitches, the Delta 2 rocket scheduled to launch Tuesday from the Cape now will fly Wednesday, according to Boeing. The rocket is due to carry a Global Positioning System navigation satellite into orbit for the Air Force. It will join a constellation of GPS satellites whose signals are used by civilians and soldiers alike to pinpoint their location by latitude and longitude. The 27-minute launch window will open at 7:22 p.m. EDT Wednesday. Workers needed more time to install a new part for the steering system. Previously, a faulty pump on another Delta 2 - which will carry NASA's Aura spacecraft from California - prompted a replacement on the rocket scheduled to fly from the Cape. Previously, workers also were looking at an issue with a wire harness, which is a conduit for electronics, according to rocket-builder Boeing. - Chris Kridler, FLORIDA TODAY
  7. Sometimes watching out for us, like government is supposed to. I really wouldn't get too concerned about Big Brother over this test.
  8. If in doubt, send pc-mobile an email sony2@pc-mobile.net and tell them which Clie and which Garmin you've got and they'll tell you which cable you need. I originally ordered the wrong cable, but within moments, realized I had probably done so. I promptly sent them an email, they cancelled my original order and redid the order for the right cable. I got part # GEST6 for the SJ-22 to Legend. edited to add part #
  9. I have a Legend and a SJ-22 and a cable to link. I use Cachemate. I've not had any trouble with the downloads. Do you have the most recent version of Cachemate. I've got v.3.5.2 and again, no problems. The cable is in the truck, so right now I can't hook it up to see what happens and try and give you any suggestions, just wanted to let you know I'm having no problems. If you are, I'll try later to offer any suggestions.
  10. OK, my turn, Male, age 52. Loved fishing when I was a kid in South Dakota, took up surfing when family moved to Florida (and quit fishing). Veteran, USAF. Divorced with one adult son. Always had dogs as a kid and hated cats. Now I have a cat! (Still like dogs, just don’t have the time for the maintenance.) Average intelligence, and the old hippy in me will always argue that the best music was from the sixties and early seventies. Besides geocaching, I love riding the Harley, and sometime I’m going to have to get back into scuba diving.
  11. It is kind of sad, though, that a single male has to worry about what people think about him as he is going about enjoying the day. Too bad pervs make life bad on the majority.
  12. My current avatar is simply a Harley Davidson Super Glide on the GC logo (which I guess needs to be changed). I don't get too creative on these type things, but would like to see a Harley in it. By the way, I'm a male, and use a Garmin Legend, and I guess you can understand my name, Harleycache. If you can get to it, Thanks in advance. If not, I'll try to do something different. (And to all those creative sorts out there, you have been doing some great work.)
  13. I recently logged a FDNF and all the other logs were basically saying it was an easy find. I haven't checked yet to see if anyone has found it since I was there, but I'll go back. If my G/F had been with me, she'd have probably found it -- she has a way with those. By the way, FDNF -- the opposite of FTF. Mine was the First Did Not Find.
  14. Currently, 71% viewing this forum are premium members, and 72% viewing all forums are. Do you think those who spend time on the forums are similar in numbers to those who don't? Ratio of premium to non- that is?
  15. Randy, do you use film or digital? What do you print your pictures on? Film photography costs bunches of bucks for film, developing and printing. Digital costs for printing. And if you do it yourself, there' the costs of the equipment. Photography was one of my more expensive hobby's.
  16. This version of GSAK ships with GPSBabe 1.2.3
  17. The check's in the mail. No. Really. It is. My email says so. Actually a small price to pay for a great program. Thanks Clyde.
  18. Instead of going to McDonald's and getting an adult? Happy Meal with a pedometer, my g/f and I use mine for just that. Tells us how far we've gone, current walking speed, top speed, average speed. Just doesn't tell me how many calories we've worked off.
  19. It is a free country, but lot's of men and women paid with their blood to make it that way. Remember, freedom isn't free! Thank a vet!
  20. Welcome to the addiction. You are right, we have ton's of great caches in the area (I'm right across the river from you). Like 95_Camaro_Couple said, check out Florida Caching. There have been a couple of local CITO events and a get together at a local restaurant recently. Both great ways to meet some local cachers. Once again, welcome
  21. Sorry, it was a joke that didn't make it. Street pharmacy = local crack dealer. Little zip locks they use for their "pharmaceuticals".
