  1. But, you always need more techy stuff! BTW, spent two years in Taiwan back in the old Air Force days. Pretty cool place back then, would love to see what it's like now.
  2. harley, i love the new avatar. too kewl!!!! Thanks, still working on it, but getting closer. Didn't think I'd see Michigan with a Flamingo avatar. Those birds would freeze up there!
  3. It's actually not too much trouble to get Cachemate to tell you where the nearest cache is. If you've got a page open, go to Record, then Nearest Caches, and it will bring up the coords for that cache. Doesn't matter if that's not where you are, just enter what's on your GPS. Of course, your way works, but if you don't have the clipon, it's a great way. Paperless, the only way to go.
  4. Just uploaded one, seems to be working OK.
  5. After 40 years, I'm heading back to the Black Hills. Actually riding up. There's lots we've already got on the agenda, including visiting many of the places I haven't seen since I was a kid, but if time permits, I may try to find a cache or two. Any suggestions for some nice, but quick ones?
  6. I've been trying to come up with a new one for me. How does this one look?
  7. I'm pretty sure I'll be out. I'll have my cell phone with me, so I will be anticipating a Father's Day call from my son.
  8. I'm a geocaching addict. If I'm not caching, I'm at the forums. (Well, OK, so I do go to work. And sleep. And ride the Harley. But I do spend a lot of time on the forums.)
  9. $7 well spent, and it's a one time cost, and you keep getting updates on the software.
  10. Hey, I can handle the Häagen-Dasz, but the Swedish Bikini Team...
  11. Yeah man, I can be really resistant to change as well. But, I went to cachemate early on, and just recently added GSAK. You're right, they do rock!
  12. I have to disagree with you on that one, at least on the Legend. I first used back-tracking, to see how it worked, driving to and from work, and it worked like a charm. Subsequently used it on the highway, in the woods, on trails. It's managed to get me back each time.
  13. I saw that in Florida Today, online this afternoon, and wondered if they were geocachers. Paper said scavenger hunters.
  14. Can't think of any suggestion of what could be wrong, but I know I have used back track on my Legend many times, and it works like a charm. I'm sure someone will soon post some help though.
  15. I emailed Garmin once, got a very prompt response. Then I posted to the forums. It probably took an hour for the email from Garmin, forum responses were sooner. Answers from both sources were pretty much dead on.
  16. Been getting mine, including a one-timer I ordered this morning. Email w/i 5 minutes.
  17. Here's a similar example. Found, because it used to be there. (Edited somewhat to protect the guilty) June 5 by... Should have read the log. Looked around with no luck. [view this log on a separate page] May 13 by... looked and looked found area i thought it was in but no cache so i call a friend ... who had found it in the past. he meet me there and its gone. im loging it as a find since he told me i was right were i thought it was.
  18. I live in Florida, where our most elevation seems to be the landfills or the Beachside condominiums. Would a topo make sense for here? I guess since they show the swamps, rivers, etc. perhaps, but I'm not sure it would justify the cost, since Metroguide basically shows all that stuff. Opinions?
  19. I think you should do it the way you feel is right. That being said, if I look, and don't find, I log a DNF. When I go back (I eventually always do), if I find, I do an entirely new log entry - as a find. The old DNF stays. I had one that I logged as a DNF twice, even though the cache as it turns out had gone missing prior to my first DNF. But, I looked twice, I didn't find twice. When I did find it, the two DNF's stayed (Jan and April), and the find was logged in May. The whole history is there.
  20. OK, I've got a Garmin so don't know about the Lowrance, but since it did say "To edit waypoint position,"I thought it might work. Sorry.
