  1. But isn't this almost the pot calling the kettle black? I know you no longer have any respect for El Diablo, but I don't understand how you can say anything about his alleged personal attacks and then you make comments such as this. Just curious.
  2. On the surface, yes, it appears that CO did overreact and archive a cache that he should not have. Although it appears to outside the guidelines for approval, it has been there, and appears if nothing else that it would be grandfathered in. And yes, it does appear to the outsider that it was done in spite. It also appears that TPTB will be reviewing the matter, but you have to give them time. I am unarchiving this cache until Groundspeak can review the situation and come to an agreement on this matter. I would respectfully request Team 360 contact us at contact (at) geocaching (dot) com with any information he feels will help us in our decision. Thank you. Nate Groundspeak, Inc. As El Diablo says,”The problem has been fixed.” As IV Warrior (and others) says, “the issue is still an open one.” In other words, the cache is unarchived, but who knows the final result. Surely no one expected this to be resolved in 24 hours. Remember, as has been brought up in so many threads, the vast majority of geocachers do not read the forums, so the vast majority will never even know about this current controversy. And positively or not, it will pass. We can only hope for positively. Personally, I think the biggest problem that has come from this is not the archiving of a cache, or the denying of one, because I firmly believe that will be resolved. What is the biggest problem is the total lack of respect I have seen in the several pages of posts here. Too many people who disagree with one another fail to respect the rights of others to have an opposite and opposing opinion. I can assure you, I disagree with some of you, but I don’t disagree with your right to hold that opinion. There is no one yesterday or today who lost my respect because of how they feel about this issue. But I will assure you, some respect has been lost in the way attacks on their fellow community members have passed. I truly hope this issue can be resolved to the overall satisfaction of everybody. In fact, I’m pretty sure that it can and will be. But, the loss of respect among each other is, in my opinion, the bigger issue. Hopefully, in any future disagreements, we can agree to disagree and still respect each others right to hold a different opinion. (my rather lengthy 2¢ worth)
  3. Thanks. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try them, not going to be too much time, but I'm going to try.
  4. Got it! When you run CMConvert, there is File Import Options. Take the 'check' out of Decode Hints by Default. No more decoded hints.
  5. Go here and download CacheMate Quick Start Guide. I can't remember, nor can I find right now, how to change the hints so they aren't encrypted, but either I will, or someone else soon enough will tell you how to fix that.
  6. You read his profile, right? That explains it!
  7. The owner warns "in BIG BOLD RED CAPITAL letters ... not to be specific about the location..." then threatens "to delete my log because my log entry is too vague?" Sorry, let him delete if he wants, you found it, you logged it, it's your find. If he deletes, just relog. See who tires first.
  8. Actually, you'll need a PDA (Palm type), a PPC or a laptop. PDA is probably the least expensive way to do it. If you go Palm, then get Cachemate (7$) for the Palm, and GSAK for your computer. There are other options, but I like this combo best. PPC, can't help you there. Oh yeah, become a premium member so you can download .gpx files.
  9. I don't know if Cachemate works on PPCs, but if you get a PDA, I would suggest you check it out. Very easy to use and you can update your logs in the field. One of the best $7 I've spent on this sport/game/activity/endeavor.
  10. ... Why check after one DNF if it one isn't enough to deter you. I don't think most people are deterred by one, often times even two.
  11. It seems to me this you have contradicted yourself.
  12. So you are saying that, to the cache owner, DNFs only acquire importance as they increase in number. I'm sure the third or fourth "guinea pig" that sought the cache after the initial DNF will find that thought comforting, and will feel most appreciated. Actually, yes, I am saying that. A DNF means one person hasn't found it. How many caches out there (that have been in place for a while) don't have a DNF on them. Most do. It's the repetitious ones I worry about. A single won't keep me from looking for one. Two consecutives, maybe. Three or more in a row, I'll probably wait awhile, hoping the owner will check up on it.
  13. So you are saying that, to the cache owner, DNFs only acquire importance as they increase in number. Do you go to the doctor after one sneeze?
  14. No. If I sneeze once, I'm OK, I'm not going to the doctor. If I can't stop sneezing, there might be a problem, so now it may be time to get a check up. One sneeze doesn't mean I'm contagious, not stopping means I may need to let people know they may want to keep away. I agree that people should ALWAYS log their DNFs, I just don't think the owner needs to go check after one.
  15. I'll see that and raise you $0.02.
  16. Not a prob. If AH or one of the other pro's don't get to it, I'll try it again more along the lines of what you want.
  17. I've got a Legend, have never used anything else, so I can't compare. But I will tell you that it's a great unit. But I will also say that whichever one you decide on, I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with it. I've heard nothing but good about both.
  18. What JeepCachr just said. GSAK does a great job with stuff like that. Just remember, you need to be a premium member to get the .gpx files.
  19. Add Cachemate to that and you've got a great combo.
  20. What is it then if you go with a proctologist? Wait! I know!

    Nextel Gps

I figured the same, but... from the Nextel web site
  22. Hmmm... Where can you get tickets, popcorn, and sodas that cheap at a theater? I might actually go if I could. As it is, movie theaters have priced themselves out of my life. And don't get me started on the prices at ballpark concessions......... It must have been a long time since I've been to the movies. I figured $30 would still get two admissions and popcorn and soda. Thank goodness for Blockbuster.
