  1. As I recall there has always been a 500 mile limitation. I have several regular trips that I had to break into segments. So on routes you have (had?) a 500 mile limit, 500 route point limit, and a 1000 cache limit. Yes, you are correct but you have always been able to move the start or finish point closer to each other. When I moved the start or finish point it still showed me over 500 miles. They still must be working on the problem
  2. Tried to do a create a route this morning. Still not working, can't save and if I go over 500 miles it does not show the correction. Getting there and thanks for working on the problem. Happy Holidays.
  3. We area also trying to create a route and unable to do so. We have made several routes PQ before but the only map that comes up is Seattle. Is there a problem? We are using the create a route tab.
  4. Diemanca & Stickman...thank you! That battery charger from Pocket Solutions looks pretty cool, we'll probably get one. Thanks! When we check the stored battery power levels on the PDA it shows good for "main battery" and 100% for "back-up battery." I would imagine this is the supercap battery you are referring to. Yesterday, the PDA's battery died...we plugged it into our car charger...it worked great for about an hour....then it froze, it wouldn't even turn off...we tried powering it down by removing the battery and replacing with our spare...this is when it defaulted to my original stated problem (displaying brand new out of the box setup display). I thank you all for any additional info you may offer. I am able to use a soldering iron, however...I would imagine my 60 year old eyes may have a difficult time with the presumably itty-bitty connectors supercap battery leads. Thanks again, Jim
  5. I purchased a spare battery for our HP-PDA iPaq 2215. Using the paperless handheld has been great...but having to return for a battery charge inspired me to purchase a spare battery. When I pull out one battery and replace it with the charged battery, the PDA defaults back to factory "brand new out of the box" displays. I lose all data. I have to return home and reload all related software. I would be better off to just recharge the PDA and wait...rather than destroying all that I had stored. Any ideas??? I thank you all in advance for any replies. Any/all suggestions will be graciously received. Jim
  6. When you have the list of waypoints displayed, press the Menu button. You can then select from various ways of finding waypoints (by nearest, by icon, by name, etc). Prime-Thanks for the quick response. Okay...I have GPS in hand. With all of my geocache waypoints listed, I press "Menu". Then, I press "Find by Name". Now, I select "H" (to display all the cache names on my GPS that begin with "H"...I press "enter" and my list now is displaying the caches that begin with "Q" and then "R". While entering these letters, just now, I went back and started with "A". It seems; "A", "B", and "C" will display all caches beginning with those letters. However, once I enter "D" and letters beyond it jumps ahead many letters. As I stated, if I enter "H" it will display the "Q" and "R" grouping. Any ideas? Maybe it is a software problem? It wasn't until I replied to your response that I realized at least A, B, and C were taking me to their caches. Again, I appreciate any input. Rookie, Jim You probably don't have any waypoints that start with that letter. I do...a bit ago I thought the same. So...I checked, and rechecked to make sure. Thank you for the input. I will keep prodding forward, maybe something will spark a thought. Who knows? Jim

  8. After downloading over 500 cache waypoints, the only way I can select a particular one is to scroll down the list...beep, beep and more beeps. I am hoping someone can tell me how to "select" one and have it appear, rather than scrolling down the list of GCxxxx's. We are using a Garmin Map 60CS. Thank you in advance for any reply. Jimnade
  9. Hi, We are newbies and really enjoying this new adventure. We want to go paperless and was wondering what the experts thoughts are on the HP iPaq 2215 Pocket PC. Is there anything we need to know before we purchase one. Any special software we will need to load. Thanks
