  1. No soul saving alien stories. Got it. And good idea about info in every seed pack. I'll do that. Thanks!
  2. So, I had an idea for a cache. I absolutely love monarch butterflies. I photographed and studied them since I was a kid. They are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat loss. I was thinking of placing a theme cache that would include info on the cache page about the butterflies, as well as butterfly themed swag in the cache - and milkweed seeds to be planted (but not as a requirement) in people's back yards if they'd like in order to give monarch larva a place to live and grow. Would this be seen as an agenda? As I said, you would not be required to take or plant the seeds. It'd basically be swag that people trade if they wished. There's also the added concern that milk weed is poisonous. But only if eaten - so should not be planted where cattle or other livestock graze. I reckon that could be a problem in and of itself. People with allergies might get the sneezes from the flowers, also. Maybe this cache would be more of a problem than I originally thought. What do you think?
  3. You put religious materials right up there with rattlesnakes, huh? Too funny!
  4. I literally -JUST- rehid a cache that didn't belong to me. Not even 2 hours ago. I've had it for a couple of days, rescued it from certain destruction. (Super-Hero theme plays) But really - the area where the cache had been was bulldozed, and the cache was sitting out in the open, with zero cover. Anyone who passed on the trail would have seen it. Didn't have my GPS at the time, was out for a walk and decided to see who had logged after me. (I'd found it previously.) Since I couldn't rehide and send coords, I brought it home and emailed the owner. He thanked me, gave me permission to rehide, and I just sent the new location. So yes...sometimes it can be okay, I s'pose.
  5. Yes. Every time I'm hunting one of those urban micros. Even if it's in a lamp skirt in a nearly deserted public parking lot. I always feel like I'm doing something wrong, and have to keep reminding myself that I'm not.
  6. Recently while caching in Indy, we came upon two very nice men riding their horses next to a lake. We had a good conversation and loved meeting the horses. Seemed like a very surreal occurrence. I live in the suburbs of Indianapolis. You don't often see people on horseback!
  7. Thank you.... Now divert auxillary power to the shields Scotty...here it comes Eh. That's okay with me. I couldn't help but post. The official quote of this thread should be: "There's only two things in this world I hate. People who are intolerant of other peoples' beliefs...and Christians!"
  8. I think the most offensive part of the whole debate is some of the replies in this thread. I'm a Christian and I've never pushed my beliefs on anyone. I don't consider myself better than anyone. I'm not of the opinion that those with different beliefs are more or less intelligent, enlightened etc, than myself. Yet the needless and childish bashing of my beliefs seems to be extremely accepted in this thread - as well as pretty much anywhere else. Seems that it's A-OKAY to believe whatever you'd like! (As long as you aren't a Christian. In which case, you're somehow naive, stupid and somewhat evil.) Don't want to be insulted? Don't insult others. Adults should already know this.
  9. Here's my first little set of sig items. I always leave them in a tiny plastic sealed bag with a Geocaching pin. When I run out of lil green worms, I have a batch of others that I made. They're green pipe cleaners stuck in a straw with a notecard attached. The notecard has a little story about a worm getting stuck in a straw printed on it.
  10. Geocaching: P*ssing you off one micro at a time! Geocaching: Does this look like poison ivy to you? Geocaching: Because the food at McDonalds is terrible - but we still adore the toys!
  11. Hmm. Don't know. I'm afraid to look! Srsly though: Some spare Zip Loc bags. Several tiny bags of sigs items A bag of nicer swag for trading (Jewelry, mostly) My journal. (Never go anywhere without it!) Camera 2 different knives Pens & a pencil Some spare log sheets Flashlight Spongebob (You heard me. ) Deep Woods OFF And several dried leaves and twigs that I've collected crawling through brush!
  12. Once, caching with my sister, we walked quite a ways in to some woods and came across this sitting oddly at the base of a tree: Doesn't look like much, but it was unsettling to say the least. Especially when combined with the odd assortment of other items scattered around in the little clearing. An old ripped up mattress, huge pad lock, chair and rope, and other things that seemed sinister given the circumstances we found them in. We high-tailed it outta there! That was one DNF I don't feel bad about!
  13. Oh, and the shoe trees (haha) reminded me of this tree we found. Yeah. We didn't understand it either.
  14. I haven't been caching long, so I don't have too many amazing pics. (Like the white deer. Wow. ) But I always have my camera. And I always keep my eyes peeled for good shots!
  15. Well, hey there Indianains! (Indianains? Yikes.) Another newb over here. 31 finds since the end of June. Most of my spare time consists of coming up with ideas for eventual hides, sorting nature pics from my hikes, hunting for swag and sig items to leave, bookmarking caches I'd like to find, and reading these forums! Good times, man. Good times. I've learned a lot so far. Some of the info is even useful outside of the game. For instance, did you know that the monetary value of a McDonalds toy rises the farther out in to the woods it's placed? I have a few you couldn't pay me to give up. I earned that junk! Okay. I'll stop being silly. Just wanted to post and say hi to the locals!
  16. I think religious items are okay, provided that it isn't geared towards converting people. I understand that people who leave things like this have their hearts in the right place - but no one likes to be preached at. I'm a Christian myself, and even I don't like having it shoved in my face. We're all entitled to our own beliefs. I left a stone with a cross etched in to it in the first cache I ever found. It was in a Civil War graveyard and seemed appropriate to me. The item also had value to me. The stone, however, didn't have a note attached to it plugging my religion. That is when it goes, in my opinion, over the line.
  17. I'm more of a stealth person. I do agree that sneaking around draws more attention, but if there are muggles about - I just walk on by and check back later. I don't agree with the 'heck, if they put the cache in a place where there are muggles, it is their problem if it gets muggled' attitude, because I'd assume that having to be stealthy was probably intended to be part of the fun. It also depends on the muggles in question. If it's in an area where muggles are sitting around, having a picnic etc - I'll come back. If they're just driving or walking briskly by - I might go for it. It all depends.
  18. That's pretty much what I thought. My reasoning behind it was - I thought if I hadn't really, really put a huge effort in to finding it, and just looked for a little while and decided "Eh. I'm moving on." that logging a DNF might concern the cache owner, or it might turn others off from looking for it. I know when I go to a cache page and see a few DNFs at the top of the log list, I'm less likely to put effort in to looking for it. Now, if I put a lot of effort in to finding it, and couldn't, I'd log it so that the owner and others know that there could be a problem. I now know that my logic is flawed. xD I will log all of my DNFs from now on!
  19. This is Kat (K) of KJ Kindred. I would have posted a reply much sooner - but for some reason, it wouldn't allow me to log in to the forums for the last few days. My partner and I have decided not to log on the team account any longer, and just to keep our individuals. After some thinking, it seems needless to log on both. We're keeping the account - but won't be logging it, and are only going to use it to place team caches when we're finally confident we could pull off our own hide. I appreciate the help, guys!
