  1. f2 Sounds like the best option for now. I hadn't ever played with that. Thanks gang!!!
  2. In GSAK, I have a database open, and have my 'options' set for 'double click opens the off line browser'. Now for each cache, when I want to view the HTML offline page, I have to double click on each cache. Not only is this a slow process, but I end up with multi browser pages open, that then have to be closed, one by one. As I plan caching, I may sort the data base for a particular location, and then want to walk through the HTML offline browser pages, to view details and select which I want to persue. Then I 'mark' those of interest. So finally, my question is: Is it possible to scroll from cache to cache via the HTML off line browser only? without having to return to the database sptead sheet each time?
  3. Yea, been there and looked at that! Thanks!!! Still looking for a downloadable map of Baja that i can use with my gpsr. Ideas?
  4. Thanks for the links. I check them out. Hadn't known about UT (also a grad). Does anyone know anything about Fugawi?
  5. Hi Nick, Last saw you at Escapade. Tom Marlatt did a seminar on Geocaching that was very well attended. A year earlier, boondocking in MI I heard Marlatt talking about it and got interested enough to buy myself a Christmas present GPS in '04. There are a lot of SKPs getting involved.
  6. I'm planning on taking the RV to Baja this winter for a couple of weeks of touring and caching. I travel with laptop & tethered GPS, plus my Magellan Sportrak Topo. Normally I use DeLorme USA or DeLorme Topo to find my way but they have no coverage for Baja. MS Streets & Trips only major roads. Magellan no help for Baja mapping either. Soooo, what other source of mapping is available for my laptop for Baja that will have lots of detail roads and/or topo? Obviously, I would like the most for the lea$t. Ideal if it would work with my gps(s) but even a good computerized map would be good. TIA
  7. I recently upgraded to Version 4 and did as I saw suggested in this topic. That is, without removing GSAK 3.05, I downloaded V4 and just installed it. Now in my XP, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs: I have a line item for both V3.05 and V4. Anyone else see this? It seems to me that I should do a remove on 3.05. Any comments? (You bet I'll back up my data before I try it!)
  8. Check this topic if I copied the link correctly. Jeremy is considering a PQ modification for DNF. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=75347
  9. Amazing bunch adding their names, so please include me too!
  10. I could see how this could be useful. For me though, any cache that is not found and has a note has been, at least so far, a DNF. Assuming that you have made a log entry for all caches NOT found, a work-a-round for the DNF, is to go to your 'My Cash Page' and print out all you caching logs. Then for each DNF, go to the cache and marked it as 'watched", and keep these up to date in the future. Now a PQ can be generated for all 'watched' caches and you have a DNF list.
  11. Clyde, you're ahead of me again! 'Just did a quick search of my manual, and just as you predicted, on page 14, "As many as 200 waypoints can have a message assinged to it.....the Startrak will store up to 500 user waypoints in memory." Not really too big a deal. By the time I had found those 200, I'd be way overdue for a new PQ etc. Thanks again
  12. I'm not sure whether this is a GSAK or Magellan problem, but here goes. I have a Magellan SprotTrak Topo and when I try to download 500 waypints from my registered copy of GSAG to the gps, all 500 waypoints codes are accepted by the Sportrak, but most of the descriptions are missing. If I reduce the number of waypoints to 200, then all the codes plus descriptions are there. My memory usage at 200 points is 61% free. But much above that even though 'free memory' still show available, I lost most of the discriptions. Any ideas?
  13. Wow, you're right on the money!!! Did a check and it works!!! Previously I had done it the one by one way! Like any program/system, it helps to k now ALL of the options and parameters that are available in a PC search.... OK, How did you lear about the 'shift' click method? ie are there any other tricks that are helpful" Thanks!!!
  14. Well Clyde, I guess if the 'request' door is maybe open a crack... Since I have gsak databases for several different areas that I regularly visit (or will soon), I would like to request that the 'Centre Point' location be allowed to be different for each database. That makes advance planning easier for each area. TIA
  15. OK, how does gsak know my handle? I downloaded each of my finds (gpx) and gsak shows the correct ones as 'found' but does not list 'date found by me' even for caches I found 2 days ago. What am I missing? Help please
  16. Oh no, not cursing, just trying to learn how to do it. Thanks for you help!
  17. Hi Robert, You were the first to council me last Nov/Dec when I first started. TNX In answer to your question, I guess I just wanted to keep my own personal DB in GSAK for the 'record'. Just like there are a couple of hard dandies I attempted in AZ, that I want to remember and try again. Well, from your answer, I'll just have to mess around to get them. But while I have your attention, I have been playing with the 'preview' and get a listing. Then I can check all and download online wothoiur having to wait for the query to officially run. One problem: When i do that I can only get *.loc and not *.gpx. Anyway to change that?
  18. I'm also a brand new Premium member as of today and planning on going paperless. I have downloaded GSAK and plan on using it with a pda. But initial problem was to correctly construct a pocket query to download my 'found' caches. Although a newbie, being retired and having an RV, I have already cached in 6 states. So how do I properly construct the query to cover all the US for my 'founds' in one shot. (I already waisted my first 5 queries) TIA
  19. Thanks, I finally discovered the 'little' bar in the upper right corner. sorry for the bother, but I got it now... ;-))) Thanks Tom M
  20. newbie with 5 finds and cannot figure out site to log them in. help pls.
