  1. I wish there was a way we could block our caches from people who only complain in the logs. Ok so the coords are off. Its a SEARCHING game. The whole point is to look for it. Most coords arent off by miles. How many of you go to ground zero and stay at ground zero and then blast the owner because OMG you had to actually LOOK for it. Ok so the log is wet. You know that stuff called paper most of us have in our cars? Does your religion forbid you to get an old receipt and fold it in half and replace a wet log? OK so the container is messed up. Is it there? Did you find it? Guess what you won! Thats all there is to this game. Look. find. win. Geocaching is not going to crash to the ground if someone doesnt sign a log. Geocaching is not going to crash to the ground if someone keeps your bug for more than a day or two. It is really THAT big a deal to just archive a cache until someone gets to it? MUST we complain and be rude? We have SOOOOOOO many rules forced upon us. Everywhere we go people force silly rules on us and get mad if you dont obey them. I had someone tell me once I was cheating because I didnt sign a log. No cheating would be if I didnt find it and said and did. Which I dont do but what if I did? Who would I be cheating but myself??? Its soooo silly to be so completely anal about a game! Honeslty people PLEASE lighten up. I am an insanely nice person. I am the kind of person who goes poor for making others rich. I have way too many animals and ive let way too many people live in my house and ive given money to people I prob shouldnt have. I hardly ever go geocaching without three bags with me. One that is full of great swag of all different shapes and sizes, one full of already made geocaches and one full of supplies... bags, paper, containers, labels, tape, rubber bands.... Can we PLEASE play nice? (I wont even go into detail about the psycho stalker I picked up last year through this game.) Please consider others feelings when you post. You can never be too nice. Use a smiley. And if we cant do that then can someone PLEASE make a block function because life is just way too short to have to deal with grouchy people. OK im done. :D :D
  2. No they come to an email set up just for them. They never did before. I always got them. :-(
  3. I'm not getting emails anymore alerting me of when someone finds my hides!!! How do I fix this??
  4. ok I know what travel bugs are and how they work. Im new but ive found 4-5 and ive recorded them all. I know what geocoins are. Ive found one, recorded it and sent it on its way. In the midst of my caching I have found a trackable that doesnt have the dog tags on it. Just a number and a geonote. I also saw a coin in a pouch with a number written on the pouch and instructions to log the number but it wasnt engraved. What are these and how do they get by without buying the dogtags and "official" coins?
  5. Are you allowed to have testers? Like before your cache gets published (or before you even put it in) can you email people in your area and ask them if they want to have a go at it first to see if its working and coords are right....? :-D Just a thought.
  6. When you are submitting a geocache and entering the coords there is a button that says "show on map". When I click that nothing happens. Is the button messed up or am I doing something wrong?? Seeing what I put on a map would be very helpful since Im new at this.
  7. Tiiim thank you for the motionx recommendation. Im going to try that one and add it to my list of gps apps.
  8. Ive had a couple of people say they hide with iphone. And today when I dropped a pin on it in google maps and zoomed in it was only off by 10-20 feet. I dont have a regular gps and I dont plan on getting one. :-( So I need to figure out a way to make my iphone work. I have the NEW one so maybe thats better than the old ones as far as accuracy.
  9. The co-ordinates are in decimal degrees. The site uses decimal minutes. Negative degrees are western hemisphere or the southern hemisphere. If you can not change the readings to the HDD MM.mmm format used by GC.com then your going to need something to convert, like fizzycalc, to convert the readings. I put those coods in my iphone and it set a waymark that was way on the other side of Lake Woodlands from me. WAH!
  10. Im thinking I should have posted this over at the iphone board. :-/ Sworry. I like the multiply idea, that might work. But now im worried that perfect mark is not going to work.....(which is where im getting my coords from) I wonder why I put it in my neighbors back yard. I pulled it up on google maps too and it put it in MY front yard closer to the door. Its actually on a tree right out by the road. Kinda like this one.... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...47-dec2923d0e75 which is also in someones front yard and what gave me the idea. Theirs is hidden in art in their yard and mine is too. My tree is not your normal looking tree.
  11. WELCOME! One of two things - either change your GPS's display, or change the cache page submission form. You can change the display on your GPS to be H DD MM.MMM which are hemisphere, degrees and decimal minutes), which is the standard for geocaching.com. Also, just above the coordinates for the cache, on the submission form, you can use the drop down to change the interface to "Decimal Degrees". Forget about the negative (that just means "West of 0 degrees and east of 180 degrees"). Also - just to be sure - have you read the cache submission guidelines? http://geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx I have read them and am on my way back through them a second time. Its actually a small tree right out near the road in front of my house. IDK why it put in the back yard of the house across the street. I use the Iphone app and it wont let me change the way the coords are entered.
  12. I saw a post the other day that some uses Perfect Mark to hide. I got it on my iphone (the only thing I use for geocaching). I hid my first cache today near my house and used perfect mark to get the center coords, listed as 30.131771 n -95.489525 w but ALAS i have no idea what that means or how to put it in the form you submit for a hide. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Honestly when I see people get upset over "religious" stuff THAT upsets me. Not because im the one who puts religious stuff in the caches (but I might) but because it IS a family sport and there are ALL KINDS of families! Its like youre saying only certain kinds of people can play and they can only play a certain way according to what make YOU happy or not. DUMB! People should be free to put what ever they want in the caches. What ever is a part of them what makes them happy. And we shouldnt feel paralyzed by rules and what is going to upset whoever. Personally Disney stuff offends me. I frickin hate, despise, abhor disney and all things related to it. I also despise McDonalds toys in caches (woo hoo you went all out on that one, cleaning the car out and leaving us your garbage?) but HEY, its what is an extension of them so .........oh well. I think its more important that we all have fun STAY POSITIVE and leave the griping and complaining somewhere else..............hey........I just had an idea for a cache. :-P
  14. If this is posted somewhere else I apologize. I am still a noob but a quite zealous one. I found a coin yesterday and logged that I had it. Today I dropped it into another cache but im unsure what to do now. I also found a TB today and dropped it again within the hour. Is it the same procedure for both? Do I some how attach them to their new caches or just wait till someone else finds them?
