  1. We were FTF on a cache 4 years 3 months and 15 days after published (GC113B1)
  2. An old tramline trail near to us, only a couple of miles in length, until recently used to have 2 good multis, now it has an additional 5 micro or "other" size caches.
  3. Phone a friend or PAF. Why? Doesn't your ego allow you to admit you couldn't find it and therefore post a DNF?
  4. A Dam-Busting DING! for that. There's a Canadian one still flying, which is why I said 'pretty much' unique. Over to you! Thank you, we have no idea where we picked up that bit of information, never mind remembered it! Anyway, a bit of a change now - the TV series "Shameless" is set on which fictional Manchester estate?
  5. It seems to be the same in the part of Cornwall we live - they are sprouting up like weeds and almost all are micros, it takes away the uniqueness of them in our opinion. Wow. Church micros are mostly micros. Who'd have thought it? At a wild guess I'd say they are placed near churches? From the church micro website - The cache can be as large as you like, the bigger the better.
  6. It seems to be the same in the part of Cornwall we live - they are sprouting up like weeds and almost all are micros, it takes away the uniqueness of them in our opinion.
  7. Drive by events where there is no need to stop sound great to us - no longer will we have to listen to the loudest cacher extolling the virtues of their latest 100+ film pots at the base of fence posts every .1of a mile trail or the latest D5 puzzle cache they've devised.
  8. If thread starters are snobs - then we are and proud of it too! Edited for duplication.
  9. There should be a digital souvenir for EVERY FTF the cacher gets - they can sit alongside the meaningless 31 days of August 2013 souvenirs.
  10. We live in the UK, so how come we cannot take part in the recent survey (USA residents only) BUT we are allowed to send money?
  11. Just wondering - what on earth is so special about a supermarket car park that it warrants a cache there? "When you go to hide a geocache, think of the reason you are bringing people to that spot. If the only reason is for the geocache, then find a better spot."
  12. We still think this feature is well overdue - in 2013 we wrote notes for 49 "ghost trackables" and we are not very prolific cachers with 185 finds during the year.
  13. So true - this from a cache series we visited recently "You should be able to see the next stile to cross when you enter each field - just keep following your GPS's until you reach No.7 - there is Livestock grazing in these fields for most of the year so please be wary and keep your Geohounds on Leads."
  14. That's exactly what we have done as the CO has not logged into the site since February 2009, the cache has a number of favourite points too, so if feasible we'll place a new cache in the area.
  15. A D2.5/T4 local cache - the owner has not logged into the site since February 2009. Cacher #1 04/04/2013 Didn't find it Searched high and low, No joy, I will be back! Cacher #2 05/04/2013 Didn't find it Had a fun scramble up the hill. The co-ords seemed to be about 10-15m from where the clue implied. Went with the clue and had a good look round, not finding anything matching it. Nice views from here, though... Cacher #3 14/04/2013 Didn't find it Couldn't find this one today, had a good poke around and nothing obvious to see. Nice little scramble up the hillside though. Cacher 414/04/2013 Didn't find it My partner searched about with cacher #3 for a while with no luck, steep climb and lose under foot, pretty spot Cacher #5 15/04/2013 Didn't find it Climbed the bank. Had a good search but no luck. Cacher #6 20/04/2013 Didn't find it I was with cacher #7 and really had a good long search but could not find, is it still there? Cacher #7 20/04/2013 Didn't find it Had a good search around the area with cacher #6 but couldn't find it Cacher #4 09/06/2013 Needs Maintenance any chance of a check up as 6 + did not finds Cacher #8 29/06/2013 Write note This was on the 'to do' list today but only noticed all the DNFs and NM logs as we parked up so DNA. Cacher #903/07/2013 Didn't find it We fancied the scramble so had a quick look despite all the DNFs. It isn't there. Cool place though. Cacher #10 24/07/2013 Found it Found the site but due to the DNF's didn't attempt the climb. Nice hiding spot though Cacher #11 10/08/2013Found it didn't like the steep climb but tftc Cacher #12 06/09/2013 Didn't find it We searched for it at the tower, but we coudn't find it Cacher #1304/11/2013 Found it Found the hidey hole with the odd square stone. Nothing there Cacher #1304/11/2013 Needs Maintenance Found the hidey hole with the odd square stone. Nothing there Cacher #1405/11/2013 Found it Clambered up and searched for cache. Removed stone by square white stone to reveal space for film canister size container and it was empty. Had a good look around, including climbing about halfway up inside but could not find any cache. I am claiming this because I do not fancy the scramble up and down again. Caccher #14 05/11/2013 Needs Maintenance See previous log
  16. we have several favourites, top of the list is the now archived "The Hypnotist" GC16V4N which was a very clever idea followed by the "Got a Light Boy? series and many of the earthcaches. Worst caches, for us, are any that are hidden purely because they are 528 feet from the previous cache. EDIT - after further discussion we also don't like caches hidden "just because there was space"
  17. Run a pocket query for caches with "stealth required" attribute then add those caches to our ignore list - simple!
  18. A recent log on a local cache that has been disabled for quite a while Found it 19/08/2013 Found but it is missing The "finder" has over 1400 smileys, so definitely not a mistake.
  19. Our remotest placed cache is an earthcache (GC2JPKQ) WHICH IS 50.9 miles from the next nearest cache. Our remotest find is a traditional cache (GC2H3G4) which currently is 206.1 miles from the next nearest cache, although when we found it was 393.5 miles from its nearest neighbour and 485.6 miles from the nearest cache in the same country.
  20. On our ignore list so far are - Puzzles that we'll never solve Wherigos, as we don't have the right GPS or a smartphone Any cache of any size that includes "extreme stealth required" or "a cache and dash" in the description Some local urban caches A local power trail of identical micros hidden purely because they are 528 feet from the last.
  21. A "power trail" in an area already containing many caches in interesting places, when the trail cache listing is exactly the same for all the caches and no attempt has been made to explain why this fence post/telegraph pole is so out of the ordinary apart from being 0.1 miles from the last one. "When you go to hide a geocache, think of the reason you are bringing people to that spot. If the only reason is for the geocache, then find a better spot." – briansnat
  22. Not a cache trail as much as a bike trail with caches is the "minerals tramway trail" which runs from Devoran on to Portreath in Cornwall(or vice versa!) including a 15 mile long multi cache (GC1D17R) A map of cycling routes in Cornwall (and elsewhere) is available to buy - see http://www.sustransshop.co.uk/products/6120-cornwall-cycle-map for more details.
  23. Reposted from Facebook Groups: Is anyone doing anything for GAGBs 10th anniversary on 1 & 2 June? have been asked by National Trust if we would be interested in doing some work with a bbq and camping? would be around SE Cornwall. Don't want to steal anyone's thunder if they are planning something.
