  1. Thanks, I rarely look at the forum so I didn't have a feel for the fact that the topic comes up every few weeks. I also know that people get mad if you don't search first. I guess "most accounts watching" with the time frame of "any" isn't the right way to search for it.
  2. Well I tried the search and was surprised to not get any hits. Here is the question: What cache has the most accounts watching it? I found one (well, I found the lid and a pencil and since I'm a loser I counted it as a find) that had 15 accounts watching it. I'm sure there are some with more.
  3. Thank you, I'm going to go fix it now. You guys rock
  4. On one of my few TB's pages I want to have a list of places to visit like such: 1) place A 2) place B 3) place C etc. But when I do the page it doesn't put the carriage returns so it looks like this: 1) place A 2) place B 3) place C What do I need to do to get it to look nice? Do I need to put html codes in? If so, what is the html code for carriage return? Thanks in advance to all the gurus.
  5. That's pretty sad, really. My son has really loved some of the bugs but when it has been a little while bugs have to go back in a cache. I don't care if he had a tantrum. I would just put him in his room until he was done with the tantrum. Oh well, I guess not everyone deals with kids in the same way. Letting them keep a TB would be like looking the other way if they stuck a candybar in their pocket at the store IMHO.
  6. I just did a google search to see if there is a geocaching merit badge. It doesn't look like there is, but it seems like it could be a good thing...
  7. Good point, I hadn't thought of that....
  8. I signed up for where's george last week expecting some fun. But so far I have realized that I don't use cash that much. I was going to pay for gas with a $20 I registered then I realized, "I get 3% back if I use my credit card to pay for gas, I'm not giving that up." Then I realized "I get 1% back using my credit card for anything else, I'm not giving that up either." So basically I use cash maybe once a month so I probably won't be having lots of fun with tracking georges. Now here is a question, the top person on Where's george.com has 174,000 bills tracked. You have to spend the bills, not deposit them in the bank. That means at a minimum they have spent $174,000 in cash over the last several years. Even if my mortgage company started accepting payments in ones it would still take me 10 years to burn through that much cash! Seems awfully weird...
  9. Go to Hide and Seek a Cache on the main page, then scroll down until you see the input for Caches found by user name. Then try George Orwell. Then if the person seems to be a cacher in your area you can email them. I used this just the other day, but so far the person has not responded. I don't know why they would sign the paper log and even say that they took a TB but then not log either the cache or the bug on the website. It is annoying to all involved. I have to worry about my bug, and so far 2 cachers have gone there to get the bug and have been disappointed.
  10. I'm not trying to argue or be sarcastic, but I'm confused. Most of you expect the geocoins to become part of someone's collection? Aren't these trackable coins exactly like TBs in every way except for the form? Would you track them on the gc webpage same as a TB? If so, I would consider taking a geocoin and adding it to a collection stealing. Certainly if someone took a TB and kept it as part of their collection that would be stealing. So maybe I could use some more explanation of what the purpose of the coins is.
  11. I started geocaching about 2 months ago and have gotten interested in logging TBs. I have only found 10 so far but if I have a choice of finding a cache with a bug and one without a bug I go for the bug. There recently was an event cache and when I looked at it that morning there were about 30 bugs at the event!! Theoretically I could go there, write down all 30 numbers and log them, right? But that seems kind of weird. It is somewhat hard to find bugs and so to all of the sudden get 30 in that way doesn't quite seem right. Any thoughts on the matter? BTW if this is a repeat please go easy on me, I did search on this but didn't find anything.
  12. LOL at myself. I posted a similar suggestion as this just this morning and couldn't figure out why there weren't really any replies. How embarassing. My only excuse is I don't read the forum all that much. Just that it is very, very snowy here right now so I can't get out and find caches.
  13. That would be pretty dang cool, a cache that was a full sized Chevrolet!!!
  14. I guess your point is that then you would be able to see which ones you currently had because your screen name would show up against them. So technically you answered my "question." I guess what I was trying to say is it would be nice to have a section on the personal cache page (not 3 clicks away) that shows what bugs you are holding at the time.
  15. I have been thinking about the travel bug area on the my cache page. Right now it has travel bugs I own and travel bugs I've grabbed. I think it would be useful to have a third section called travel bugs in my possession. Maybe there is a place that clearly shows that right now but I haven't noticed it. The next part to that would be that the bugs in your possession are color coded by time. They would be green until you have had them a week then they turn yellow. After 2 weeks they turn red. That would give people a clue that they are keeping the bugs too long. Any comments? Knowing the way people post on this board I expect a few comments like "that would actually make people keep the bugs longer." If you do make a comment of that sort at least explain why you think this is true.
  16. I entirely agree on the rating system, mainly because of my desire to have a fun time finding caches when I travel anywhere. On a trip I have limited time and would want to hit the really fun, interesting caches. Here is an example: Suppose someone visited my house and only had time for one cache. There are 2 caches within walking distance. One is a nice cache in a very small park. The other is a nice cache in a beautiful little hollow. Since I live in the area I have hit them both and they were both worth going to. But for a visitor I would strongly recommend the second cache over the first. For a traveller who doesn't have a geocaching friend in the area ratings would be very useful. You can get a good idea of how fun the cache was by reading logs, but that also takes hours.
  17. Thank you this helps. So basically it would be helpful to carry a magnetic compass for when I get closer and move very slowly? That is kind of the idea I got from the first link. The second link didn't seem to work.
  18. I was putting hillbilly teeth (in original package of course) in for a while but nobody seemed to be taking them. I thought kids would think they are great.
  19. Funny how such a simple thing can create so much controversy. Actually the question was just what the r meant, not whether the people who use it are right or wrong.
  20. I have a Garmin GPS 12. On the page with Mr. Pointer there is also a BRG and a TRK number. I know that means bearing and track, but that is about all I know. My question arises because often Mr. Pointer doesn't move for a long time even when I turn around and head the opposite direction. But the BRG adjusts almost with every step. So I presume that if I learn what these mean it will help me find caches better/with less stumbling around for hours. Can anyone help? The user's manual didn't explain it very well, at least not so I could understand it.
  21. Hmm I was going to send a travel bug to Hawaii among other places, maybe I shouldn't... 75% have a travel bug in them!? I wish it was like that in Utah. There are only a few bugs around here and when I went to get one I found it wasn't really there
  22. My family is heading from Kaysville to Parowan (Southern Utah) this weekend. We will probably have time for only 1 (or 2 if I'm persuasive ) cache along the way. So obviously I want to make it a cool one, but that won't take tons of time. Any good suggestions in Provo or anywhere else along that route? Hopefully once we get to Parowan we can do some so any suggestions of which would be neatest in Parowan?
