  1. Thank you SOOO much. We used the KML religiously for planning fun day trips for the family!
  2. Has anyone else has problems recently seeing caches on Google Earth with the KML link? I keep getting "Network KML Link Disabled." Any ideas? Thanks! -George
  3. Hi everyone! When we first started caching we got a few coins and put them out into circulation so we could watch them travel. Now, we are considering starting a collection for us to keep at home and enjoy. We have a few questions that we hope can be answered. 1) Do you activate the coins in your collection that you have no plan on putting out into caches and tracking? 2) If down the road we decide to trade a coin, assuming it has been activated if that is how it is done, can we transfer ownership to the new party via the GC website or will it always be listed as our coin? These are only the first two questions we have come up with but I'm sure there are more. If you have any tips or insight for newbies we would love to hear about it! Thanks! -George&Heather
  4. I just got a DeLorme PN-40 as an early Father's day present and it came with a coupon for a free 1 month premium membership to geocaching.com. I am already a member and was wondering if I could use the coupon to extend my current membership by a month. Has anyone done this or know if it is possible? Thanks! -George
  5. The TB graveyard became obsolete with the Unknown Location option. The coin can stay there until it resurfaces or you decide to find a way to re-release a copy. That makes sense. Thanks!
  6. I have a followup question. The same thing has recently happened to a GC of mine. As the owner, I went to grab it so I could move it to a TB graveyard but I don't have the GC tracking code since I don't have possession of the actual coin. How is this done? Is the GC destined to say unknown forever?
  7. Hello! Does anyone know specifically where we can buy Lock n Locks retail in Atlanta? I would like to get a few to place some caches. In the alternative, does anyone know specifically where to get ammo cans for a reasonable price? Thanks. -George and Heather
  8. Well, I know a lot of people are using the macro by looking through some profiles but I have a question hopefully someone can answer. My lone FTF does not show up in my generated statistics. I have the section included in the options but it doesn't appear in the final html output. Does the record in GSAK need to be specifically marked as a FTF? Does that need to be done on gc.com? Any one else have this issue? -George
  9. Wow....how totally inappropriate to place in a cache log.
  10. I checked the FAQ and links but couldn't find it. IDGAFAYK Any ideas?
  11. Hi all! My father recently introduced my wife and I to Geocaching and we totally have the fever! It has brought the family closer than ever and I have even lost a few pounds hiking around! The activity really has been great to us all. We even got a travel bug and are waiting to see who picks it up and where it goes! We have been looking into getting some geocoins to track as they travel around but they are little expensive for us. Ten to fifteen dollars isn't usually considered a lot but with both of us in graduate school every few dollars helps. Can someone let us know of some sites where the trackable coins are usually a little less expensive? Thanks! -George
  12. My wife and I have told a few friends about geocaching and they are pumped up to try it with us! We were hoping someone could recommend a good area to take a couple of friends for a daylong cahing trip near Atlanta (although we can drive a bit if necessary). Preferably wooded for some hiking exercise. Also...not Stone Mountain since we are going there this weekend already. Thanks!! -George and Heather
  13. That one looks great but we can't swing $450. Are there any particular features I need to look for in a unit to fit our needs? Thanks for the reply!

  15. Greetings all! I suppose as far as rookies go we are as newbie as they get. Here is my question…my father just introduced us to geocahing and we are totally psyched! We are interested in getting a GPS unit for caching that can also be used for driving and travel and such as well. We do not own a GPS unit now so we were hoping to get a multitasker that would handle duties for both. Any thoughts? Are there different attributes like memory or card slots that will determine what a unit can be used for? Also, keep in mind that we are both students so price is also a very important factor. Thanks to all very much!! George and Heather
