  1. Sure are some nice looking rigs in this thread. Nice job on the thread, K-9!
  2. Yeah, I know. Wish you'd reminded me of that before I tried to rob that bank in my Jeep!
  3. Let me know if it sits very long. That one's not close by, but it's within my range. I've just started releasing TB's and I'd hate for one of mine to get stuck in roach motel masquerading as a bug hotel. Say...I just had an idea for a TB: Auntie Weasel's Magic Key. When you put it in a TB hotel, you have to take out all the other TB's in the cache. I could use a laminated Monopoly Get Out Of Jail Free card. Whaddya think? Would I be the most hated woman among geohoteliers everywhere, or what? Bwahahaha! Edited to add: I've just clicked on all the bugs in that cache, and they've all been put there within the last week or so by names I recognize. Maybe that's actually a really good, fast-moving hotel... Excellent idea for a TB!! Love it!! And thanks for the offer of help, I'll keep that in mind.
  4. I'd like to see a list of the top 10 furthest travelled bugs, those that have travelled in a traditional manner, from cache to cacher to cache to cacher. I have one that jumped from Kansas to Alaska to Massachusetts and is nearing 7,000 miles! Unfortunately, it just landed in a TB hotel with a couple dozen other TB's that has a take one/leave one rule. I fear it may be stuck for quite a while.
  5. Oh, I figured he ran out of hamster food!
  6. When you post in a forum that is open to the community, you are opening the discussion to all members of the community. I read the post, and decided I wanted to respond. I have read the screenshot version of what went on, and my opinion stands: the approver was well within the guidelines to not approve your vacation cache. I gave you suggestions on how to properly interact with approvers and people in general, as a way to help you when you have another problem like this. I pointed out that forum history shows slinging mud isn't a positive approach to having your cache reviewed. There have been cachers who have had their cache denied that have come to the forums and given intelligent, well-thought, positive discussions as to why they felt the cache should be approved, and in the end, some were reviewed by moderators and approved, others were still not approved. They accepted this and moved on. Then there are people like you who have to throw a fit, bashing anyone and everyone that disagrees with them. In general, those caches have never been approved, and those people won't get over it and move on. Learn some respect, some positive approaches, and don't treat the site as an anarchy against you. It's not all about you, you, you! You are no more special than anyone else, you have to follow guidelines like everyone else, and you will be treated as you act. If that isn't acceptible to you, and you have a problem following guidelines and the chain of command, then maybe this RASH isn't for you. No. No control issues at all. I have a legion of flying monkeys I could have unleashed on you, but I kept them all under control. Thanks for asking.
  7. Yeah, this and the manufacturing of robots!
  8. I thought I was.....hang on, let me re-read it......yup...I was talking about the same old boring tripe!
  9. <sighting target through scope>There you are, you typical random cacher!</sight> Yes, you spotted me, but please don't shoot. Even if I am "typical" and "random," I try to be proactive instead of negative and that's the only reason I even mentioned the slowness of the server, not to complain. Returning to the topic, I was trying to show my gratitude for Jeremy fixing the problem with the gc site's firewall. Yeah, I know you were.....it's always a big relief from panic when that first page of gc.com finally pops back into view after some downtime!!!
  10. Perhaps I should <link to quote removed by moderator> some of Sparky's more colourful comments from another Canadian caching forum. I'd get a severe warning if I did, though since they make MJDJ's profile like pretty tame. BTW - TPTB at The Sandbox cordially invite all of you to join in on the discussion already taking place at The Sandbox regarding this very topic. I wondered how long it would be before you felt obligated to bring that up again. Perhaps I should come back over there and give you something new to work with. That's getting rather stagnant. As for what I said there, I'm not ashamed of it. I said it in fun. I don't use that language here, because I respect this site and it's members (or at least most of them). I said it there because of the exact opposite. I have no respect for that site or it's members (none of them {see edit below*}). Point is, Team MJDJ needs to learn some lessons in social interaction. To date, I haven't witnessed anything from him on this site, or any other, that is even close to the level of respect that should be conveyed to another person. That entire rant was nothing short of redundant, irresponsible, disrespectful garbage aimed at the volunteer reviewer who is obviously working well within the guidelines by rejecting a vacation cache. This whole conversation is just a continuance of the last 1,000 "Waaaa, my cache wasn't approved, the approvers are picking on me" threads. So redundant and boring that it's making me sleepy. Nitey nite!! Don't let the sandfleas bite!! *EDIT: One change, there is one member of that site that I respect. He knows who he is. We've had a few decent email conversations lately. I apologize to him for my oversight.
  11. So, how are things over at the Sandbox? You been elected queen yet?
  12. From his profile: Dang, is that how you talk around your kids in Canada? My, what a lesson in life they must be learning.
  13. <sighting target through scope>There you are, you typical random cacher!</sight>
  14. Honestly, I get tired of reading thread after thread on the same dead horse topics, whether I agree with them or not. There are a lot of issues that have been crammed down people's throats here that I do agree with, and a lot that I don't agree with. Point is, why do people have to be constantly choked with the same words, agree or not? As far as I know, I've always been a straight shooter, and always will be. I'll speak my mind a few times, but I can only say so much on a subject. Same with anyone else. Some folks will try to burn an entire thesaurus on a subject, yet never say anything different. I'm not like that, and I don't like that type of arguing. Speak your mind, make your points, then shut up. Going on and on and on isn't getting anyone anywhere. Brainwashing isn't the proper way to gain an ally. If a person is weak enough to be brainwashed to your particular point of view, they are too weak to be a member of the team, IMO. That said, I'll step aside, hit the litter box on my way out, and find a cubby hole for a nap. Oh, and yeah, I don't always agree with you, but that's what keeps it real, right?
  15. Hmmm....sounds vaguely familiar......... ...Your remarks aren't "respectful" either, Sparky! ...and we never asked for comments from the American Contigent, this is a Canadian matter and it will be settled without guns, bombs, invasions or missions to discover WMD...that's how WE do things north of 49. ...thanks so much for your concern. Nothing disrepectful at all....just an all too familiar rant. Not surprising, considering. Oh, and, "ouch", that bomb and WMD thing hurt. Really. It did. Yeah. Uh huh. Please, I know a lot of Canadians, don't try to lump your comments and perceived abuses by the approvers together with them, it's not fair to them to be insulted that way. Here's a thought: Follow the advice already given, and wait for TPTB to contact you instead of coming in here and insulting your approver and stirring the pot. What do you think that's going to accomplish? Your reputation precedes you, and your abusive words don't add much polish to it. I don't see any reason to be disrespectful to the entire community (hint: everyone can read the Canadian forums, and everyone is allowed to post in the Canadian forums.....keep that in mind if you want a personal conversation). Seems like this is a weekly thing with someone, coming to the forums to gripe and moan about their cache not being approved. Pretty much anyone in the forums can recite the procedure by heart now, and pretty much anyone can tell you that most of the time (if not all of the time) there are details left out by the poor pitiful abused cacher, that when brought to light of day, pretty much put the nails in the coffin. Procede if you want. I don't think you have anything to lose, but I can guarantee you have absolutely nothing to gain. Knock yourself out, the popcorn is ready, and so are we.
  16. Not getting your 8 cents worth out of the site today? Sheesh, lighten up!
  17. Hmmm....sounds vaguely familiar.........
  18. All anyone is trying to do is help the game be more fun. Every last one of us has a different vision on what that is and every last one of us is entitled to say something about it. If nobody said jack then this game would still be a "stash hunt" and food would still be ok. Some people just don't get that an interplay of ideas means everyone is invited to the table. Not just your clone minded individuals. Those who would squelch ideas in any form either just don't get the big picture, or their own view of what's fun is that nobody should complain, whine, or provide constructive criticisms, and that's ok too. What I'm trying to say is that anyone involved in geocaching to makes a suggestion has their heart in the right place. People who complain their cache wasn't approved, well gimme a break already. Cache owners make this sport happen. They deserve a lot of credit for putting a cache out there for us to enjoy even if this site won't approve it for reasons that may be good, bad or specific to this sites own interests. When people from outside geocaching come in and demand we quit, then yeah I do get that they are trying to strangle geocaching and their hearts are not in the right place. I don't think he was complaining about the people who have a decently placed request, listen to the discussion, and accept the outcome. At least for me, I get mucho tired of the continual griping and moaning from the same people. Yeah, they are entitled to their opinions, but forcibly cramming them down everyone's throats everytime we turn around is a bit much. And you have to admit, there are handful that even start those threads only to stir the pot and try to gain some more attention.
  19. I don't want to remember how I felt when I first started caching. I had just lost my father, my two dogs, my job, my favorite pickup, my best friend, I had such terrible back problems I could hardly walk, and my wife was being tested for possible cancer. So, instead of shutting the $%^& up, you just dredged up a lot of terrible memories for me. Thanks. Thanks a lot. I still love you, man!!!!! Thanks....now I feel better!
  20. Hmmm....probably needs another boost from someone like Daimler/Chrysler again.... And to think, it was like this almost all the time before Jeremy fell victim to their "commercialization" of the site.

  22. That's the point of having the name visible to the approver. That way, they can cull the obvious jerk reports.
  23. Sissy, why not just start a second account on gc.com with a similar name and use that account to post to the forums, but keep your other account for caching? That wouldn't draw any heat as far as being accused of being a sock puppet, because it would be the only account you post with, and everyone would know it was you. It would just be an "alternate account".
