  1. What a f'ing joke. Why not show some integrity and mind your own business for once?
  2. I just might be one of those Deputies. Here is the Emergency Response Geocoin two of us put together. Thanks to all that share in the Circle of Public Safety!!! We enjoy working with all of you!! saso792 Available through the forums at: Emergency Response Geocoin BE SAFE!! Just realized I never got around to thanking you for the Gold and Silver Coins!! They look great!!!! Nice addition to my collection of EMS memorabilia!
  3. He's well on his way.... What's wrong with this one (other than the grammar)? Isn't he saying "I found the cache and there were nettles all around it, too" ? It isn't obvious from what you have posted whether the cache is there or not. Sssshhhhhh! Don't spoil Criminal's fun. It helps him to cope with being the person he's become to try to belittle someone else for doing things the way they want. Besides, with all these people getting extra smilies, Crim will never win at geocaching! He found where it was, it was archived because it was missing. Sparky, get a life. Find something to amuse yourself besides trying to diss me in the forums. Thanks, but I've got one. And it doesn't revolve around sitting in front of a computer all day reading logs so I can attempt to show how superior I am over others just because they play this silly game by their own rules. I think you do a fine job of dissing yourself everytime you post in this thread. It just serves as a reminder as to why I quit posting in these forums, and why I won't post again for another 6 months or more. I haven't checked the stats, but I'd bet you have the majority of the posts in this thread, so who needs to get a life? Now, quit trying to tell other people how to play their game and go twist a tit.

  6. No, don't. Take the discussions and excuses regarding fake finds elsewhere. Thanks, Jamie I think you should enforce both ends of this Jamie. People should just post just the log itself, and leave their snide remarks and stupid smilies out of the post....COUGHCOUGHcriminalCOUGHCOUGH........
  7. What about when someone whines about how bad the forums are, then insults a poster for whining too much, then says that whining is the reason the forums are so bad? Do those people also contribute to how much you hate the forums? Yup. And you just helped prove my point.
  8. Perhaps the main reason I have not posted here since last November. Too much angst. I also stopped logging my finds online almost a year and a half ago. I cache for me, not for numbers. I don't set goals anymore for caching....that makes it sound too much like work. Work sucks. That's why I don't do it anymore either. My find count has more than tripled this year alone, although I couldn't tell you the actual number, as I really don't keep track of it anymore (I am guessing that it has tripled, judging from the notebook full of cache pages) . My find count is nobody's business but my own. If I have a DNF, I will let the owner know so they can check on it, or if I find another problem with it, I will let them know. Since I quit visiting the forums, caching has become fun again. It only took a couple of minutes this evening to remind me why I hate this place so much, and that's sad. And despite your insistence and misguided belief that your post was not maligning to anyone, it still does not help the situation at hand. One thing I've learned here in over 5,000 posts is that whiners tend to tick off more people than anyone else here. If you start whining about the forums not being "useful, relevent or inviting", or whining about threads turning nasty, you are adding fuel to the nasty fire. You are just asking for another dozen or so nasty posts aimed at you. Nuf sed. Buh bye.
  9. ROFLSHINPIMP!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Red....I haven't heard a "Ringbone" reference in ages!!!!
  10. Really? Gee, what a novel view of what a DNF is good for.....
  11. According to the people who are winning at geocaching, if you don't sign the log, you don't get a smiley.
  12. Corrected. Just messing with ya Sparky. Where ya been hiding? ROFL!!! I haven't heard the ol' "post count padding" jabs in a long time!!
  13. Remains a cache don't make. If you didn't sign the log (or find one, for that matter), then you didn't find the cache and don't get the smiley. I woulda thunk even a noob would know that signing the log is part of the game. .......or is it a contest to see who can get the most smilies? Seems that way for some. It's funny to read the logs by those with quadruple digit find counts and also to read back through the threads on here where even some in the top 5 have been proven time and time again to be falsifying smilies just to increase their numbers....and egos, I presume. Sad........
  14. Hey, calm down, I was just messing around. I didn't seriously bear any ill will towards you with that post. I'll admit that it did sound a bit nasty... But you can't say that you didn't imply that you took the photo (and thanks, photographer was the word I was looking for... don't know why I couldn't come up with it at the time.) Aaaa, no harm, no foul. Just being me! I can't believe it took a moderator two weeks to remove the pic and give me a spike on my warn meter for that. What has this site come to? ***** edited by moderator
  15. Liar! That picture is all over the net. You can't SERIOUSLY be the author... Here are some pictures from my latest cache, "Stone Valley." It's not approved yet, but if you want to check it out later, it's GCQ4DY. Ignoramus! What's with the flame? I was in Kansas when I found it on the net while downloading the coords for Lake Afton Cache. Don't recall ever saying I was the "author". (Incidentally, check your language use; author refers to written products. I believe the word you should have used was "photographer". Thanks, just the same.) Call me a liar, ya inarticulate.......never mind.
  16. This is perhaps the greatest caching view I've seen in Kansas. Found it on the way to Lake Afton Cache shown here. It doesn't get much greater than this: <image that had nothing to do with geocaching or the topic has been removed by moderator>
  17. Dug up? Didn't know buried caches were allowed......
  18. You had to push the turn signal in on my old Mercury Capri to get the horn to sound. For you youngsters, it wasn't a short circuit, it was designed that way. Wow, I'd almost forgotten about having to do that!
  19. Looks as though it got an inch or two above the bottom door seal...any water get inside? Not the safest of jack stand jobs, but I guess any port in a storm as it were.....
  20. I'd DNF it. You found what certainly appears to be, and probably was, the hiding spot. The charred remains very possible could have been the cache. But the bottom line was, you didn't find the cache, you didn't sign the log. It is still an adventure. It will still make an interesting log entry, but it isn't a find. Regarding the SBA: I would SBA it only if the hider is not active. If the hider is active, I'd send them an email (because not everyone reads the log entries) and let them have the option of replacing it or archiving it. I disagree. They found the cache, but due to circumstances beyond their control, were unable to sign the log (unless they could sign ashes). If you found a cache with a log book so wet you couldn't sign it, would that be a DNF for you? You found it, didn't you? Signing the log is not an all-out, devil-beat-all, necessity in claiming a smiley face, as has been noted several times throughout this post and others. Each situation is different, no black and white can cover it all. This is definitely worthy of a smiley.
  21. Forget the coffee cans. Just drink lots of coffee. Coffee always makes me jump higher.....
  22. Yeah, I suppose there would be instances like that. However, if it were frozen to the mountain, or too soggy, as thergleb said, it should still count. No, I wouldn't think that not being able (read "not wanting to go to the hassle) to reach it would be an acceptible thing. Sure, we all know each cache is different and each owner is different, and each of us plays by slightly different rules. No, I'm not a stickler for absolutely no questions asked give your firstborn if you don't sign the log type of rules. If you have the cache in hand (or in ice at your feet) and can't sign the log, you still found it and still get your smilie. If it's hanging 50 feet up the side of the cliff and you're too much of a Nancy-boy to go get it....no smilie for you!!
  23. Edit: remove extra smiley. As far as I'm concerned, they found this one. Hard to prove they did without a sig in the log book, but if they can successfully describe the location and container, I don't think the owner should reject the claim for a smiley. Yesterday, Sunshine and I went caching for the first time together. Our first hunt was for a micro in a small park. After about 20 minutes, I found the sliding lid of a Hide-A-Key in the grass about 10 feet from the object we figured the cache to be hidden on. I logged a DNF (after all, I didn't find the whole cache or sign the log) and emailed the owner with a description of the lid. I had a pretty good idea it was part of the cache container, because it just seems odd to find a Hide-A-Key lid in the middle of a park. Sure enough, the cache container was a Hide-A-Key, according to the owner. We never discussed me logging it as a find, and I won't. Like I said, I didn't find the hiding spot, I didn't find the cache (or at least all of it), and I didn't sign the log. Now, had I found the cache in the hiding spot and wasn't able to sign the log for one reason or another but could describe it to the owner, I would expect him to allow me a smiley on the cache page. Now I get to go back and hunt this one again once it is replaced. And from the logs on the page, I'm expecting a pretty tough hunt for it. That's what it's about for me, hunting, not smilies.
