Can someone show me a place on the net where I can upload this file and link it to the memorial plaque stash page? Dave... Dave Ulmer - Inventor of Geocaching Dave, Email me through gc.com or through pdxgeocaching.com. There's a chance we can put it up there. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Look for the little globe at the top of every page under the Groundspeak logo. Not very obvious, but that's where it's at. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  3. quote: Our club, the Northeast Ohio Geocachers, NeoGeocachers, have just completed voting on the "Best Caches in Northeast Ohio". The results will be up on our webpage in a few days. This will give out of towners a good hint as to where to go. This may be an option if you are traveling to other areas. Many of the regional websites are putting up lists of their favorites. I know the Chicago geocaching site does this. We do this in Portland, OR too. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  4. quote:Originally posted by JetSkier:What's up with Treasure at Thieves Isle? The web site says they gave 5 grand prizes for that one treasure! Anybody know anything about that? Apparently, the cache had multiple Grand Prize tickets in it by mistake. Magellan honored all five. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  5. The complete list of winners, and what they won can be found here. Look forward to getting my prize! "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  6. Maybe someone else will have better directions, and I can't tell if you are coming up I-5 from someplace south, or if you are coming from home in British Columbia. Assuming up means you are coming from the South, taking 211 might be best - I'm not real familiar with it. If you are coming south, I would get on I-205, and get off at 212/224 (Exit 12) and head east on 212/244, and then continue south on 224 when you get to the point where these two highways split (it's a right hand turn off of 212/224). I would then take a right on S. Springwater Rd, and then another right on S. Redland Rd. before taking a final left on Fellows Rd. Reverse your course out, and head back up 205 North till you get to I-84 east which will run you right through Troutdale. Hope that helps. Maybe someone else knows a better route? 7. quote: You'll have to let us know if you win any of the big prizes. Absolutely. I need to try calling my brother in law to see if UPS stopped by. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  8. That looks like the rock right after Box Car that sits smack in the middle of the river. It doesn't look like the rock on the left of Oak Springs. If I'm wrong and it is Oak Springs I can certainly understand the sitting at home. Personally, I like Husum Falls on the White Salmon. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  9. woohoo that means mine must be coming soon! Did it come us mail or ups? We moved right after I had sent in the ticket, and I didn't know our new address yet. I'm not too concerned as my bro in law lives at our old address, and we still seem to be getting all our bills. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? 10. quote: Any clue when the website will be back up? For some reason it went out today (service provider problem), but was back up at about 1:50pm. It's up now. Sorry! "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  11. Not really an organization, but mostly a place to promote and encourage caching in the area where it all started. Portland Geocaching "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  12. You are just the person pdxgeocaching.com was created for. Current lists of Portland caching events, links to local cacher hangouts, and some of our favorite caches. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  13. That supplementary page rocks. If you don't mind I'd like to link to it from somewhere on the pdxgeocaching page. Lots of good information for people that are on a layover. It sucks to spend lots of time at an airport (had a 5 hour lay over earlier this year at Phoenix - talk about mind numbing). "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  14. quote: If the cache is truly difficult, then it is a worthy competition. I get this one very much. I had a great sense of satisfaction when I finished fractal's Contact Cache first. Beyond that, I may occassionally work myself up to try and get one before others. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  15. To get the caches into your PDA is a little more involved, and can be handled in one of two ways. 1. Check the box for ebook format on the pocket query page, and download an ebook reader like Mobipocket that will translate the file into a readable format on your PDA. 2. (The better choice) Have the query delivered to you in GPX format, and then check out GPX Spinner. Using spinner and another program like Avantgo, or Plucker (the better choice), you can download cache pages into your PDA. Just do a little research on lil Devil's Spinner or Clayjar's Watcher in the forums - definitely makes the $30 worth it. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? 16. More Stuff!! Maybe because it's just to hot outside to go caching. Maybe because I prefer caching out of the city limits. Or maybe because I'm slightly obsessive. Anyway, you can now vote on caches in the gorge and around Mt. Hood (my favorite places to cache). So, log on and add your choices so others might benefit from your wisdom, insights and experiences. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  17. I keep a list of some of my all time favorites on my webpage, and sadly most of them are now archived. I should keep a more current personal list, but I would still put The Contact Cache somewhere near the top. On a different note some of the local Portland favorites are listed here. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot
  18. Put together a forum button for the portland webpage. It's mostly just a test, pending Jeremy's ok for using elements of the geocaching logo. Looks cool though. But that's Navdog's doing. 20. If you are still looking for some caches to hit, check out those recommended by local cachers at www.pdxgeocaching.com. This link in particular will list a few. 21. Great stuff bazzle! I'm still going to put together that link (just having more fun using and not creating right now). "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot www.pdxgeocaching.com
  22. Have any of you (Cachin Cin, Peppar, Uplink or the others whose names I've forgotten), received your GPS's yet? After finding it, did Magellan contact you? Excited and inquiring minds want to know (since I'll be getting one too ) "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot www.pdxgeocaching.com
  23. I was watching it, and now I'm looking at the Grand Prize tag for a new color SporTrak. Very exciting!!!! Here are the coordinates: N45 32.693 W122 22.480 "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S. Eliot www.pdxgeocaching.com
  24. quote: Sounds like you've got a great team of people working on it! Yep! They have been extremely helpful, and I am encouraged by their talents and insights. Added a forum - check it out. 25. I figured you were buried under that wonderful obsession of making us all happy and miserable with your events and puzzles. Happily, I'll continue to ignore my first draft, and work on the forum instead. "Where shall the world be found, where will the word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence." - T.S.
